A kitten has used up its nine lives after getting trapped inside a washing machine.

Toreilles, a 15-month-old tabby, survived an entire one-hour wash cycle with water as hot as 40 degrees C.


Owner Debbie Sainsbury, 44, an education officer from Horfield, Bristol, said she was amazed the cat had survived.

She said: "He lost 40 per cent of his tongue and some teeth, he's got flickery eyes and a bit of a drunken walk.

"The water in those machines is very hot and there's lots of detergent which can't have done him any good."

The escapade happened last Sunday when Toreilles apparently settled down for a sleep among the clothes inside a neighbour's washing machine.

When the neighbour opened the door after the cycle and the cat fell out on to the floor.

I've heard of a cat in the dryer before, it was lucky to escape with burnt paws and bruises.

Poor cat, thats so sad that animals get hurt beacuse of our technology, whenever we have pets we must be more vigilent when it comes to things the can climb into or hide in. All they want is somewher to sleep or relax and look what happened to the poor cat because of that!

god kittens aren't very lucky are they, they really do need those nine lives don't they, stuff is always happening to the poor little guys, bless them

That's one thing in this world that really gets to me..animals getting hurt. I'm just glad she got out alive and in (relatively) good health.

I feel bad for the kitty. . . . .I'm glad it's alright. And that did have to hurt!

OMG!!! How awful!! The poor little thing... I hope the owner took the kitty to the vet after that !

I agree with Magican 100% I HATE it when animals get hurt, even more than myself getting hurt.

Poor little baby kitty. How hard is it to pay attention to stuff like this?!?! When you have a cat you have to know that it's going to try to hide in so many different places. When I go out to my parents house and I leave my windows down in the car I always make sure that no kitties are in or under my car before I start the engine to leave. If people would just take two seconds to check to make sure there new little kitten didn't sneak into the washer or dryer then things like this would happen. Poor little kitty.
