erm not really i think the tv series was bad enough written . good to watch bad plot
Stellar
Im not sure what stargate you're talking about... havent heard of any stargate that was moved to france... and I'd like to know more about the one you're talking about, such as what it looks like, how big it is, why it is called a stargate, has anyone tried to activate it... etc.

However, the Peruvian stargate is thought to have been found. I posted a thread here about it about a month ago actually... legend says that gods came through there and back... and basically a blue shimmering waterlike thing opened up in it, like you see in StarGate SG-1... and legend also has it that some priest or something managed to escape through it when the territory was invaded... he used a circular object and pushed it against the stone wall and thats what opens it up... the circular area is actually visible on the stargate, but the key is yet to be found. Thats about all I know on the peruvian stargate though.

all science-fiction and mythology tongue.gif
Stellar
Well, not necessairly... the Peruvian stargate is very real... It's been found... (unless the archeologists have made a mistake and this is only a fake)... the history and its use, however, that is mythology.
Talon
Thats what i mean, i doubt anyone disappeared into a watery wall and vanished.

It's different from the one you are talking about (the peruvian stargate). it's more like StarGate SG-1. It was burried under the sand in some desert. StarGate the movie and StarGate SG-1 the TV show were made after this discovery. So, it's was discovered long time ago!
What do you think?

Fun tongue.gif But unrealistic.... for now.... god knows what technology they'll have one day thumbsup.gif

Well, I cant say I've heard of it... I want to read about it... but each time I search for anything with "Stargate" in it, Stargate SG-1 fansites popup :@

I'd have to say, though, that it is possible that something called a stargate has been found in the desert...

Actually, since Stargate SG-1 is a factually based science fiction show/movie... It's based on actual finds and assumes that the legend behind it is true (and it also adds a bit of poetic licence)... I've been wondering why they went with an egyptian link to the stargate instead of some mayan or whatever... maybe the stargate you're talking about exists and has been found in some desert and thats the stargate that the series is based on, not the peruvian sg find...

About the only poetic licence I find it has added is having the Gods be alien parasitical beings intent on enslaving the rest of the Galaxy. Thats about the only part of the plot which is not based on actual archeological finds and legends.
Talon
Considering thats the whole thread of the story thats one hell of poetic licence tongue.gif laugh.gif

September 1996

A huge mysterious door-like structure has recently been discovered in the Hayu Marca mountain region of Southern Peru. Hayu Marca, 35 kilometres from the city of Puno has long been revered by local indians as the "City of the Gods", and has never been fully explored because of the rugged mountain terrain. Although no actual city has ever been discovered, many of the rock formations of the region resemble buildings and artificial structures. The door, or the "Puerta de Hayu Marca" (Gate of the gods/spirits) has been at some time in the distant past carved out of a natural rock face and in all measures exactly seven meters in height by seven meters in width with a smaller alcove in the center at the base, which measures in at just under two meters in height. Jose Luis Delgado Mamani stumbled across the structure while trekking through the surrounding foothills trying to familiarize himself with the area as his job is as a guide for mountaineering tourists.
"When I saw the structure for the first time, I almost passed out..." said Mamani in an interview with the local press. "I have dreamed of such a construction repeatedly over the years, but in the dream the path to the door was paved with pink marble, and with pink marble statues lining either side of the path. In the dream, I also saw that the smaller door was open and there was a brilliant blue light coming from what looked like a shimmering tunnel. I have commented to my family many times about these dreams, and so when I finally gazed upon the doorway, it was like a revelation from God... How do you make order of such a strange occurrence?"

ARCHAEOLOGICAL AUTHORITIES
After discovering the door earlier this year (1996), Mamani contacted archaeological authorities in Puno, La Paz and Lima, and within a short time the area was besieged with archaeologists and Inca historians. It turned out that the native indians of the region had a legend that spoke of "A gateway to the lands of the gods", and in that legend it was said that in times long past, great heroes had gone to join their gods and passed through the gate for a glorious new life of immortality, and on rare occasions those men returned for a short time with their gods to "inspect all the lands in the kingdom" through the gate. Another legend tells of the time when the Spanish Conquistadors arrived in Peru, and looted gold and precious stones from the Inca tribes - and one Incan priest of the temple of the seven rays named Aramu Maru fled from his temple with a sacred golden disk known as "The key of the gods of the seven rays", and hid in the mountains of Hayu Marca. He eventually came upon the doorway which was being watched by shamen priests.
He showed them the key of the gods and a ritual was performed with the conclusion of a magical occurrence initiated by the golden disk which opened the portal, and according to the legend blue light did emanate from a tunnel inside. The priest Aramu Maru handed the golden disk to the shamen and then passed through the portal "never to be seen again". Archaeologists have observed a small hand sized circular depression on the right hand side of the small entranceway, and have theorized that this is where a small disk could be placed and held by the rock.

VISIONS OF STARS

According to some individuals who have laid their hands on the small door, a feeling of energy flowing has been commented on, as well as strange experiences such as visions of stars, columns of fire and the sounds of unusual rhythmic music. Others have said that they have perceived tunnels on the interior of the structure, though nobody as yet has found a gap that would illustrate the door opening, on the contrary the professional opinion is that there is no actual door, for the frame and the entranceway and the back of the alcove are all carved from the same rock. It is interesting to note that the structure undeniably resembles the gate of the sun at Tiahuanaco and five other archaeological sites which link together by imaginary straight lines, a cross with the lines crossing each other exactly at the point where the plateau and lake of Titicaca is located.

Just search for "Stargate Peruvian".
Stellar
He said he wasnt talking about the peruvian stargate.
aquatus1
How odd. My father is from Peru, and I have visited frequently. I have gone to see the stones of Ica, the lines of Nazca, Macchu Picchu, Titicaca, and various other locations, and have heard quite literally hundreds of stories regarding my Quetchuan ancestors.

Neither my father nor I ever heard anything about any sort of Stargate that transported people anywhere. That picture you have there is real, of course, but it is exactly the same as several other dozen ceremonial doors throughout the Inca territory. It is a bit larger than normal, but not by a great deal.
Stellar
I (like the other guy) expected more from a stargate... maybe people are just thinking wishfully that they found the stargate, but its not actually the stargate?

I'm not sure. And I've a feeling I'll be to busy being dead to see it =(

Most my curiousity stems from feeling. What would it feel like going through one... what would liquid wall feel like when touched...

is a stargate even possible to movie? when someone says stargate i think of like hellboy or other movies with the big circle with electicty around it... i mean how can you move something like that... and if it were to be moved to france wouldnt it be known, why would it be a mystery?

We'll all be dead tongue.gif ... dontgetit.gif

Its one thing I worry about death the most, not knowing what the world I leave behind will look like.
nethuns
its not that imposible. theres a new buzz-phrase sweeping physics: QUANTUM ENTANGLEMENT. it could bring about blisteringly fast computers, ultra-secure communications, and star trek-style teleporters! basicaly what it is all about changeing the matter of objects. they reckon this could explain tellepathy and a number of other paranormal events.

If you use google - try something like
+Stargate -"SG-1" -"sg-1" -"sg1" -"SG1"
as the search phrase.
