Teacher cuts students' ears

DHAKA, Bangladesh (AP) -- A teacher in northern Bangladesh cut the ears of 17 students with scissors to discipline them, news reports said Thursday.

Abdul Majid Sardar, a teacher at a Muslim school in Bogra district, said he was angry with his students because they had stopped reciting Islamic verses when he stepped out of the classroom for a stroll, the Prothom Alo and Bhorer Kagoj newspapers reported.

Two of the students -- aged six and nine -- needed stitches, while 15 others received first aid, the reports said.

The school's head stopped Sardar after hearing the students' screams. Relatives of the schoolchildren also rushed in, and beat the teacher with sticks, the papers said.

Sardar was fired, the reports said. It wasn't immediately clear what further action he could face.

I think I would have opted to get sent to the principals office. Unless the principal was going to cut something off too, then I think I would opt for homeschooling...

I like that the relatives of the kids went in and beat the teacher with sticks.

Hell, if that teacher was at my high school...he'd be in for a big surprise. Me and a bunch of classmates would have knocked him out cold...and then throw books and chairs at him

I've seen a classmate in elementary thrown to a wall for not paying attention in phys. ed. class (gym class). Teacher was sent to the office... fortunately for him, he was just a substitute teacher.

I think we should cut his ears completly off, seems like the only fitting punishment to me!

When I was a kid, paddling was allowed in schools. At the old high school my aunt went to a student was paddled so severely that the seat end of her pants were torn apart.

Given new meaning to "Board of Education".

I always love reading about a good stick beating.

Well, I would've done the same thing that the Blue guy up there did except while they were all beating him in the head i would tell everyone to stand back and then I would throw a bologna at him. Or a spoon. Stupid guy.
