The sitings are within walking distance (not even a mile away) from my house. While I haven't noticed anything or heard anything from my neighbors, this area is in development, so we still have lots of forest and country as well as small suburban areas. It doesn't really surprise me that a large feline can hide around here, heck, sometimes emus escape from local farms and completely disappear into the forests. I'm going to keep an eye out and maybe set up a camera.

This was attached to my mailbox. It's suddenly very quiet around here, except for passing vehicles, because my neighbors aren't letting their pets or children outside, which is kind of pleasant because they're very noisy people. (I'm beginning to hope they never catch this animal.)

Fascinating! Kudos to you for trying to get a photograph of it! I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be a wandering male looking for a new territory.
