The Fates weren't demons to be exact- rather they were Greek/Roman Goddesses... also known as the Weird Sisters.

There were three of them:

Clothos: Who gathered the material for the Thread of Life- and spun it.

Lacheis: Who measured the Thread to be put into the Tapestry of Life.

Atropos: Who cut the Thread and put it into the Tapestry.

All in all- a very important responsibility in my opinon.
