Discovered in Russia last summer, the well-preserved legs of a mammoth have yielded living cells that could allow for a cloning project to bring the creature back.

"We consider these cells conditionally alive," says Vladimir Repin, who led the research team. "The inner structure of these cells is undamaged."

The team is reporting the discovery of subcutaneous cellular tissue containing living cells with intact nuclei.

so, why exactly do we want to bring back a creature that would consume so much food? what purpose would a mammoth serve in the modern world? oh yea, it might make money... duh.

maybe we should put more effort into keeping the species we have alive. wait! i know- let them be killed off one by one and then bring them back again so they will make money as a tourist attraction

It's kind of scary that we have the potential to bring back to life a species which has been extinct over 10,000 years

maybe as a source of food....ven at a young age they were supposed to be big.....

so then we can have a real life Jurassic Park!
or..Pleistocene Park?
