Hi,
I lived at Vishnu Springs for a while. I am pretty sure we were the last tenents and that it fell into ruin after that.
I am happy to share what I know.

Dale Kaczmarek runs the Ghost Research Society. I believe the website is
http://www.ghostresearch.net or it may be ghostresearch.org.

hello, my names is Jake, im not sure if this thread is even alive anymore but ill share what i know. i live very near to vishnu springs and it is in the timber behind my uncles house. the land that vishnu springs was built on was given to darius hicks by his father to start a farm on. darius discovered a spring on the tract that had quite the unusua, yet refreshing taste. the water was then tested and found to have 7 different minerals and was thought to be medicinal at the time. he began inviting friends and family to the site and later sold the water by the gallon for a few cents. people came from miles around hearing of the water, the town itself began construction in the late 1800's and contrary to popular belief, never finished. darius had read of the village of angkor, a village covered and preserved by vegetation coming from the Krishna river, the hindu god vishnu was the incarnation of the river and thus the spring was named vishnu springs. the town itself is only called vishnu. the town thrived on into the 1900's but as fate would have it. the town seemed to get to darius who shot himself in a nearby town called blandinsville because a black woman wanted him to claim her child publicly. the town has come to rest in the hands of many local proprieters although the fate is all the same... the town falls into dilapidated rest each time. the most recent restoration having been done by ira post. since then the college of Western Illinois University has inherited the village in a trust. on the circumstances that they turn it into a public park/wildlife refuge. as for your ghost hunt, good luck. many have tried yet the college wants no liability so noones is allowed on the premises. if your caught heavy penalties apply and they make no exceptions for anyone. we locals tend to keep a good eye on the place especially wen a strange car is seen sitting at the entrance. keep in mind... the police will be called if youre seen on the property.

Neither was dudleytown. It was an actual place with a supposed "curse" on it. It's a really creepy story.
http://www.prairieghosts.com/dudleytown.htmlI say "legend" because so much is blown out of proportion and based upon speculation as this site
http://www.legendofdudleytown.com/front.html explains. It was supposively one of the most haunted places on earth. . . but, like I said, a lot of it was blown out of proportion. Still, the stories make you think. .

Hey, my name is matt. I came upon this site. I live in Southern Illinois and am kinda familiar with Macomb. Wanted to go to college there, but working for the railroad kept me here. Do any of you guys have pictures of this place...since people can't go there? I am into Illinois history and it peaked my interest. Just was curious. Email me at Wags11@hotmail.com
