Full Version: New Debate Judges Needed
Unexplained Mysteries Discussion Forums > Archive > Forum Archives > Debates Season Two
Saru
I'm looking for another couple of forum members who would be interested in judging some of the debates in this section of the board.

If you'd like to know more about debate judging first, read through this thread which describes how the whole debate judging system works.

Please make sure that you really would like to do this before volunteering, in particular i'm looking for members who visit the forum on a regular basis and have a keen interest in the debating. Do not volunteer however if you don't plan on being around for extended periods of time.

If you're interested, please post to this thread to let me know. Those picked will be based on who i feel would be most suitable for the job.

Thanks thumbsup.gif
Subtemperate
I'd like to put my hand up. I sit here for long periods, so maybe I could do something constructive with my time....

Ive done debating, grading of work etc.....

Thanks Subtemperate, i've added you to the 'Debate Judges' group. thumbsup.gif

Feel free to jump in on any of the debates that are ready for judging on the debates board, the one's that need to be judged have [Being Judged] in their subheading. Also let me know if you have any questions or come across any problems.

Anyone else want to give this a shot ?

I believe i'm a quite fair person when it comes to listening/reading debates...i may have my independent point of view but that would not affect my judging of two debate topics...i'm all for fair is fair even if i dont agree with the side...i'll throw my hat in the ring Saruman... i feel like i need to contribute to this forum for my absence the past few months, i'd be honored...quick question...best someone can get is a 40 correct? 10 on each area?

Just a note:
It has crossed my attention that three of the current debate judges, Reece, loonboy and Falco Rex, haven't been on the site in quite some time. Should they still be debate judges even though they don't seem to be participating in the site anymore?

That's correct. Debaters are judged out of 10 points each for style, countering, persuasivness and relevancy to the topic. Which makes 40. Then either myself or Saruman averages the three debate judges scores for the debaters and gets an average score out of 40.

I believe that they should be kept as judges unless we are certain that they can no longer participate on this site or until another 2 or 3 months have passed without any contact with them!
We should just get a whole bunch of new judges but keep the old ones in case they come back!

Thanks Fearfulone, i've added you to the debate judges group. thumbsup.gif

I don't know about Falco, but Reese and Loonboy do still come here, Reese is currently away for a period of time but should be back.

Ok thank you to both Subtemperate and Fearfulone who are the latest additions to the debate judges.

I'm going to close this thread now, as i think we should have enough judges for the time being. I'll post another thread like this again in the future if we have need of any more.
