I think the scariest movie i've seen is

Amityville

Whats yours....... ohmy.gif
emmy
Mary Poppins, that film is damn scary.

no truthfully, I'm a bit of a horror fan, but I can't actually think of one that I found that has really scared me.
Magikman
NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD

Scared the bejesus out of me. For the longest time I didn't associate ghosts with graveyards, only putrid, decaying, lumbering, flesh eating zombies. scared.gif screama.gif

Althalus
I don't think there has ever been a horror film that has made me scared.
Halo_Jones
I'v said this before but the scariest film I'v seen is "Salams Lot" wacko.gif
Loonboy

I agree with 'Salem's Lot - a damn fine and scary series for it's time...

but the scariest film for me has to be...

J A W S

And for anyone who says Jaws is not a horror - get real.

The Exorcist scared me because I never knew about
people being possessed by something so evil! And that
the representatives of the church might be powerless!
AND, after Poltergeist, I wanted to know if our house
was built on top of a burial ground too! unsure.gif
Mr-X
Very scary................. scared.gif

Memorable scene:
REGAN
Please! No!

MALE VOICE
Do it!

REGAN
Please no!

MALE VOICE
You bitch! Do it! Do it!

Chris races up the stairs and runs to Regan's room.

REGAN
No! Please! No!

Chris opens the door and sees objects rapidly flying around the room. We hear a last gasp scream from Regan untill Chris turns to Regan and covers her mouth with horror.

REGAN/DEMON
Let Jesus @#$% you!

Regan has the crucifix gripped in her hand and is plunging it into her bloodied vagina. There are fresh cuts all over her face, streaming with blood.

REGAN/DEMON
Let Jesus @#$% you! Let him @#$% you!!!

Chris runs over to Regan and tries to pry the crucifix from her hand. They struggle for the crucifix. Regan then grabs Chris' head and pushes it into her bloodied crotch.

REGAN/DEMON
Lick me! Lick me!

Chris' face emerges covered with Regan's blood. Regan slaps her mother and sends her flying to the floor. Chris screams in pain. Sharon and Willie race up the stairs.

SHARON
Chris?

The door closes by itself being held shut by a chair. They both bag on the door to help her. Chris looks up to see that Regan's wardrobe is moving toward her. Chris scurries out of the way. We turn back to Regan who is sitting with her back to us, but she has spun her head in a 180-degree angle, facing backward (Chris).
Chris looks up at her.

Karras is shocked to see an instant apparition of his mother, laying on the bed in place of Regan. It vanishes. He moves toward Regan, who is shivering and drenched with sweat.

REGAN/MRS. KARRAS
Dimi, why you did this to me?

Karras gets out a stehoscope and places it on Regan's chest.

REGAN/MRS. KARRAS
Please Dimi, I'm affraid.

KARRAS
You're not my mother.

REGAN/MRS. KARRAS
Dimi please!

Merrin re-enters the room.

MERRIN
What is it?

KARRAS
Her heart.

MERRIN
Can you give her something?

KARRAS
She'll go into coma.

Regan, in the voice of Karras' mother, speaks a few pleading phrases in Greek to Karras.

KARRAS
(shouting)
You're not my mother!!!

MERRIN
Don't listen.

REGAN/MRS. KARRAS
Why, Dimi?

Damien breaks into convulsive sobbing.

MERRIN
Damien.

REGAN/MRS. KARRAS
Dimmy, please!

MERRIN
Damien! Get out!

Damien arises from the bed. Merrin leads him out, and then re-enters the room himself. He sprinkles some holy water on Regan and kneels at her side. He holds her hand tightly.

MERRIN
Our Father, who art in heaven...

j6p
when I was a kid I went to the movies with a buddy and we saw "the body snatchers" bobby got sick half way through and left. I stayed and watched, heck it cost me a quarter to get in and that was 1/2 my weekly allowence.
I shouldn't have stayed.

Personally I did like the Exorcist. The ending was sad though, when the ship sank sad.gif
racerette
Event Horizon was scary for me unsure.gif
Phantom
2nd scariest - Salems Lot

No.1 Scary - The Exorcist, for sure... still can't see that film alone..

Usually I don't get scared from watching horror movies, althought the scene from The Ring where the girl comes out of the tv and goes for the photographer friend of the Main Character.
Tommy
As a 10 year old at a friends sleepover, the movie It was sooo scary!! scared.gif
reese2
I have to agree with you BC!! I just watched the RING last night, and it really scared me. The end when she comes out of the TV, was mortifying... I thought it was all over, and then that happens.. sad.gif

Reese
Alf
Hmm.. I'm surprized that nobody said The Thing. That was and still is the scariest movie I have ever seen. scared.gif
Phantom
Gee thanks Bloated Corpse and Reese... I won't have to waste time actually seeing that movie NOW I KNOW HOW IT ENDS.... dry.gif

Instead I can do serious stuff... like... bore myself to death.... mellow.gif

Alf... What thing? bounce.gif
Alf
laugh.gif @ Phantom

"The Thing" the movie. It's about a bunch of single-celled aliens that work together to make a big, slimy, shapeshifting alien. In my opinion, it's one of the best John Carpenter films.
Tommy
Yep Alf, The Thing is definitely in my Top 5 most scary! eek7.gif
The Council of Nine
The Omen Trilogy still rocks...It has that phycological element to it ......

"He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, freeman and slave, to receive a mark on (or in*) his right hand or on (or in*) his forehead, so that no-one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name. This calls for wisdom, if anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a person and it's number is 666." Rev 13:16-18

JoJoBinks
That corn field scene was the worse!

loganXman

wut about children of the corn. the first one. that was pretty scary to me when i was growing up.

and childs play, i know its a funny movie now, but when i was a kid i was afraid my toys would come to life.

and puppet masters. those lil' guys rocked. not scary but a good series.

and yes, the part in the ring when the girl comes out, that was the BEST part of the movie.
Tillghast
The movie Stephen King's IT was not scary but 2nd scrarist. For those who ahve no clue about I'm talking about...

The movie IT, directed by Tommy Lee Wallace, was about this evil monster clown that kills people.

The scareist part was when the little kid Georgie, clad in his little yellow rain-slicker, chases his little paper boat down the gutter, then it falls into the storm drain. Georgie( from now on refered to a G) look down it and is about to leave. All the sudden, he hears this voice " Hi, G!" It came for the drain.
Then this clown pops up the grate, he has red tufts of hair on his white body, with a red grease paint smile. " Arn't you going to HEllo?" the clown asks. G shakes his head "Im not supposed to talk to strangers, my dad says so." G says. the clown says " very wise of your daddy, very wise indeed, my name G, is Pennywise, the dancing clown, and you ARE G, so now we know eachother!" G says "I gata go!" the the clown says "GO, with out THIS?" The clown is holding G's paper boat! " There is a ballon to!" the clown said. " Do they float?" G asks. " OH, YES, they FLOAT, G" G reachs down the grate where the clown is to get his boat and ballon" And WHEN YOUR down HERE with ME, YOU will F L O A T to!" The clown grabs G's arm and changes, his eyes are yellow, his teeth are horribly sharp... Scary huh?
Allie
IT was a freaky movie. Killer clown, gotta love it. grin2.gif grin2.gif

IT the movie didn't come close to how scary the book was, probably the scariest book I've ever read, the movie was pretty lame in comparison.
DEAD-HEAD
I agree about the part in the ring where she comes through the TV. we re-watched it last night and even though we knew what to expect it still was pretty intense. I also watched the Blair witch project at an outside drive-in movie theater located in the woods. pretty freaky sasmokin.gif
Tommy
I saw Identity last night. ph34r.gif

I thought it was actually a pretty good story, with some juicy twists throughout. Not too keen on the ending though. As with all horror/thriller movies, it had a few heart in mouth moments. Of course I wasn't affected by these whatsoever. whistling.gif
Tillghast
Yes the book IT is scarier than the movie! I wish there was a clown emoticon!!!! I'll PM Saurman about that w00t.gif
Dowdy
I'm not usually scared easily but i am a huge horror fan

i laughed during the horror scenes in The Amityville Horror

Exorcist didn't scare me becasue i can do that 'spider walk' they she did down the stairs (but i can't rotate my head 360 tongue.gif )

I saw IT when i was 10 and that gave me a headache because it was so boaring

I like Hellraiser myself. Hellraiser: Bloodline was the best but the last two aren't really suited for a hellraiser film. Hellraiser: Inferno would of been suited for an X-Files type of mystery.

But the scariest film i've probably seen would be A Nightmare on Elm Street. Mainly because it was the first horror film i saw, i was 7 at the time. Even though it freaked me out, i wanted to see the others ph34r.gif
I love that film so much i bought the nightmare on elm street box set on e-bay a few days ago
Tillghast
Good Choice. Nightmare on Elm Street is a classic, like all the Friday the 13th movies. Dija know that Freddy and Jason will clash in August! the film is called Freddy vs. Jason How about we place a poll on who will win or will they both die?
Dowdy
I can't wait for that film to come out. I got the trailer about a month ago and it looks like it's going to be a great horror film

CAN'T WAIT!!!!!

Mine is ... amm ...

IT the movie didn't come close to how scary the book was, probably the scariest book I've ever read, the movie was pretty lame in comparison.

I saw IT and it was nowhere near as scary as other movies I've seen, but I still liked the idea of the story. So I did like the movie generally, but how it ended was a disappointment. One of the lamest things I've seen in an otherwise decent film.

I have been meaning to read the book, as I heard nothing but good things about how freaky it is, and I understand from others who have read it, that it explains just what IT is, where the film doesn't.
Halo_Jones
Homer ohmy.gif You've not read IT I'm shocked. it's one of the best books I'v read, and I'v read it 5 times. Now go out and buy or borrow a copy NOW. You won't be dissapointed. I love the way Stephen King writes in a childrens perspective, you really get to know the characters and grow to love them. This book made me laugh out loud in some places then literally gasp with horror in others. 10 out of 10 for me. grin2.gif
Homer
Halo, I was never into reading horror type books, although I do occasionally enjoy seeing the movies. Cujo was the only book I have read by Stephen King, and that is only because I'm not into horror books.
But, since you have twisted my arm grin2.gif , I will definately get the book.
Halo_Jones
Cool! cool.gif tongue.gif Let me know what you think when you've read it. grin2.gif

In either the book or the movie, Georgie's death was just something that stayed in my mind a long time.
Pennywise the Clown is the form that the evil creature in the movie uses the most. It makes it easier to lure unsuspecting children near. The creature can also assume a form that represents the victim's worst fear at the time. It also seems to have the power to create paranormal events that rational thinking adults cannot see. It uses this ability to further terrorize it's victims and start to unravel their sanity. The creature's domain is the sewers under Derry.
