This is one of a population of mysterious chimps that have been reported from Africa recently. These apes have come to be known as the bondo mystery apes. The hunter on the left is 5'10" and 175 lbs., so you can guess how big the chimp is. I personally HATE chimps thumbdown.gif, so for me to see this is quite a shock. anyway, what do you guys think?
SilverCougar
Uh.. why do you hate chimps?

I think they're disgusting. They eat monkeys, and they're hideous.
SilverCougar
Uh.. ok.

Guess that's good enough as any reason...

thats a pretty big chimp looks like a chimp on roids

Were in Africa was this taken? Thats one huge Chimp blink.gif . I have to admitt I don't really like chimps much either. I was fine with them until I learned some of their social activities (such as agressive males beating baby chimps to death dispite their mothers protests disgust.gif ), well actualy I only mind the crazy agressive males (who could dislike the cute baby chimps wub.gif ).
Cobalt Demon
I dont really like chimp either, I just think they look way too human but just hairer and uglier. But I dont want any harm or anything bad happen to them though.

However I LOVE Lemur tongue.gif esp the ringed tail lemur wub.gif
Janiel

anyways, thats a big chimp, but it looks kinda lifeless to me.
anyone else see that? huh.gif

-Edited-
Need i say more?

I think that would be because it's dead tongue.gif
Janiel
well, yea, thats what i was implying
Seraphina
I don't think it really needs implying huh.gif Do you think the hunters convinced it to walk into their shack, sit down between them, roll its head, and make a cheesy grin for the camera? huh.gif

On a sidenote, I do consider killing a chimp in much the same light I consider killing a human...much like I consider the practice in some places of Africa of EATING chimps, one step short of cannabilism.

laugh.gif laugh.gif Thats a stuffed toy! Behind the man of the right looks like a stuffed toy giraffe. We have just got a sneak preview of the new Toys R Us in Africa. grin2.gif

I honestly thought...anyway...

Okay on a serious note... Hunting and shooting these animals is barbaric and that photo is nothing but foul and sickening. disgust.gif
Seraphina
I agree....chimps are our closest relatives on the planet, and the fact that they're still hunted in some places of the world, with their numbers dwindling as it is, is absolutely horrific.

Panthera leo atrox
It could be an example of a Bondo/Bili ape (thought to maybe be a new chimpanzee subspecies), or it could just be a big chimpanzee! grin2.gif

What does that say about us since we are extremly closely related? The sad thing about humans is that we are able to do so much good and sadly so much evil. When I see a mother and child I feel a rush of protectivness while else were in the world men attack a school with mothers and children inside. How much better are we than the chimps I ask?

No, we are the worst things on the planet by FAR, but i've made peace with humanity a long time ago. I still hate chimps. I'm sure there's an animal out there that you're not too fond of. for some people it's spiders or snakes, but I've got chimps. Besides, the MAIN reason I hate them is because they have been known to take human babies and eat or severly injure them. Maybe I find them so repulsive becasue they are so human, I dont know. But I do know that I hate them with a passion.
TooFarGone
Thats a big chimp. If chimps can get that big, how big do you think a gorilla can get? Perhapes this may be a possible explaination for bigfoot?

This chimp is one of a small population of chimps that hvae been called the Bondo Mystery apes. they are unsually large, and elusive.
TooFarGone
Yes, but imagine a small population of gorillas that can grow to huge sizes. An awfull lot like what bigfoot has been described to look like.

Many animals do this....in fact, humans have been known to kill each other's babies too...in some parts of the world, it's a pretty common practice huh.gif

Chimps ARE a lot like people...so similar in fact that there are even some chimps I'd go so far as to describe as "nice" and some as "bad"...I remember reading Jane Goodall's book, in the Shadow of Man, and it was simply amazing the vast difference in personality between the various chimps.

Behaviour that can be ascribed to a few chimps certainly can't be ascribed to all of them...and I think "hating" all chimps is rather a sad way to look at the closest known relative of our species who, quite frankly, can teach us a great deal about where we came from.

Well, I guess I never looked at it that way... (but I still hate chimps)
By the way, I don't know of any people that EAT human babies. Besides, I'm sure there's something out there that you hate.
Seraphina
Well, I guess you've never heard of cannibals then....one thing's for sure, I've never heard of a chimp stealing and raping a human baby....people have been known to do so though.

Who said anything about chimps raping people? And about cannibalism, it's usually done for ritual purposes, not survival. And I already said that people were the worst things on earth, but that's not everyone of us that does something horrible.
And you never said what animal disgusted you. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
Seraphina
What animal disgusts me? Hmm...we do. We're the only animal that springs to mind that kill not only each other, but also other animals, for the twisted sport of it all....

You're own example if a good one...

QUOTE

Exactly...they do it to survive....there's a purpose behind it. It's not just ruthless slaughter, but a means of carrying on their species, just like every other animal on the planet.

It's us who go into the forest, kill them and their young, so we can sell their skulls, hands, and other body parts as collectors items.

Seraphina my dear, you've misinterpreted my message. I know that we shouldn't be killing them, and yes I hate poachers just as much as you do. I know that chimps are an important part of the world, and I respect them in that manner, I just don't like them. And even though they eat humans to survive, I guess the fact that something so human is eating a baby child is disgusting to me. Anyway, I don't wish all chimps were dead, and I don't want you to get the wrong ideas about me. I also don't want to get on your bad side. To make a long story short, chimps are valuable to the world but I don't like them. I hope we've reached an understanding...
Seraphina
Oh, I understand perfectly, don't worry about that tongue.gif I certainly didn't think you were implying anything of the sort....

I just find chimps fascinating...both as an insight into our past, and as an animal in their own right. If you're gonna hate something, then make it something nasty like...oh...a flea...oh! Or a cockroach! I wouldn't mind if you hated cockroaches tongue.gif

Aha! So you do hate something on this earth... wink2.gif I do find chimps intelligence fascinating and everything, but I'll tell you a secret, I only get disgusted by them when they kill other chimps or babies. This is when I get disgusted with people too! I also get disgusted by their sexual swellings, but that's another issue... whistling2.gif
Seraphina
Yes...I remember thinking to myself, why on earth evolution would curse female chimps and baboons with something not only utterly repulsive, but awkward and uncomfortable....

Jane Goodall confirmed to me the answer shortly after it occured to me though tongue.gif Imagine a forest...a sea of green....chimps are wanting to get over and make the new generation...

Big pink thing that's visible for miles around...

Many satisfied chimps that night tongue.gif

Satisfied chimps, another disgusting thought... blink.gif
Seraphina
Aww, you mean chimps aren't allowed to get any sugar? tongue.gif

Interestinly enough, chimp mating habits are rather close to our own....like us, chimps have been observed to pair off and sleep with each other at night (though they don't exactly limit themselves to the same individual when it comes to mating).

I don't believe there has ever been observed any instance of a chimp either mating with a family member (which many animals are known to do), or of a male physically forcing a female to cooperate sexually (in other words, there are no rape crisis centers for chimps) tongue.gif
