Two cloned kittens will make their first-ever public appearance at the Cat Fanciers' Association Cat Show in Madison Square Garden this weekend, according to a Local 6 News report.

The cloned kittens, Tabouli and Baba Ganoosh, will be on display in a special container but will not be available for handling at the pet show.

Both kittens, bred by Genetic Savings & Clone, are almost identical to each other and the original cat, named Tahini, Local 6 News reported.

Genetic Savings & Clone offers customers a chance to replace their deceased pet for $50,000. The company also charges about $300 to store pet's genetic material, according to a report.

Company officials said customers should not expect their pet to be resurrected but they can expect physical and even behavioral resemblances.

Five customers are paying $50,000 each to clone cats that have since departed, according to the report.

The show will take place Saturday and Sunday.

See, why would we want to genetically engineer cute cats when we've got them naturally! original.gif

Can the cloned kittys do anything special? Like stay little itty bitty kittys forever? Id pay alot for one of those.

cats really dont serve a purpose other then being cute. I mean, at least a dog responds to its own name.

Why waste resources cloning cats, when there are scientests out there trying to bring back mammoths and tazmanian tigers? but they are really cute.
Zoologist_Ringwraith
That would be good bringing back mammoths. original.gif
TooFarGone
Yes it would. It would be cool, going out on snowmobile, and almost hitting a mammoth.

nope, don't see your point, we are at the top of the food chain cause we work together and are intelligent, but we're partial to cats because thye are cute, without us they would all be eaten and dead because they dont serve a purpose ane are low on the food chain. we keep their species alive.

by cloning them, for instance grin2.gif

actully, no they wouldnt. LOW on the food chain would be grass. and some people, do to the fact we are high enough on the food chain to sustain ourselves on any food you can imagine, choose to cease the mass murder of livestock.
I choose life over my pallette

I see your point, and agree somewhat, but at the same time I disagree. I very well could be mistaken. But I am willing to bet, that cats have been around longer then humans. The cats you see in houses today very well could be the ancestors of the sabertoothe tiger.
Lots of people dont even domesticate their cats, they just drop them off on their property to kill mice/rats/snakes etc. The reason they do this is because cats are excellent hunters. With their perfect eye site, Razor sharp claws, instinct to be stealthy, and instinct from millenia to hunt.
Your common house cat could survive on its own for years. As opposed to your common dog which would have to hunt in packs to survive. I Think very few dogs could hunt alone. Some of the few that could would be pitbulls, shar pei's, Rotweillers <- maybe.

And off topic.. Havent you seen that movie cats?? With millions of cats that attack people in that house.. heheh.. Cats are evil!
TooFarGone
Yeah, but i think focusing on cloaning cats is a waste of time.
