Ok.I just watched a bit of the shipping news,staring Kevin Spacey, Jullianne Moore, and Judi Dench. I'ma newfoundlander, and I thought that this was one of the most stereotypical representations of us ever. So, let me clear some things up.
1. We dont all wear big wool sweaters and caps.
2. It isn't always cold, foggy and raining.
3. We dont have irish accents. The only people with a good Newfoundland accent, was the guy who worked at the newspaper: and he is a Newfoundlander.
4. If it was as cold as it was in that movie, then Kevin Spacey would NEVER had survived that night at sea.

To end off my rant, dont judge us because of what you hear, or by seeing crappy movies such as this.

I'd love to go to Newfoundland, the maritimes is the only area in Canada that I haven't visited.

I don't think too many people buy the Canadian stereotypes anymore. But I could be wrong.

Dot, dont. And Subtemperate, dont say things like that until you know the truths behind it. Disinterested, you'd be suprised about the steryotypes. Even people in Nova Scotia have steryotypes against us.

Just saw the movie on Sunday. Sorry to those who liked this movie, but I found it unimaginably horrible. Not to mention it makes you want to kill yourself because of the depressing atmosphere.

It was about a girl growing up on Cape Breton Island....very bleak and dark and tragic.

Ahh, Cape Breton seems like a nice place, but i onlydrove through it this summer.
