ok mom just ran in here bout 5 mins ago telling me there was a story on the news about some flying object with 3 cigar shaped things attached to its sides. she said that skeptics think its just a meteor or something. ive tried to look for it on the sites of stations who reported it, but no luck anyone hear bout this today? maybe its not up because it was just reported, not sure though. wish she had just yelled at me to get in there to see it

Sounds like Rods to me, insects caught in photos travelling very fast so their bodies are elongated by the motion causing them to look long and stretched, like a cigar.

OK, if we are willing to suspend reality enough to believe in cigar-shaped UFO's, why wouldn't "Rods" be accepted into this suspended reality? There are pictures and films of both so why would one belief be more plausible than the other?

Maybe because UFOs do exist? UFOs, by definition, do exist. By definition, they also can be something as simple as a plane. Maybe the cigar shaped UFO was a boeing seen from the side... one of the ones with the reflective material which would kind of block out the wings from a distance. It would look small and cigar shaped...
