I liked Event Horizon.
Even the first RE movie wasn't that bad. Apocalypse lowered my opinion of him, but he didn't direct it..
When AVP came out, i felt the same way about him since then as we all do about Uwe Boll...
Ugh.

I liked the first half or RE2... then it got stupid.... actually most of it was stupid. Especially stupid was the part Jill was walking through the police station shooting prisoners and nobody pulled a gun on her.

I guess they're the only ones who want to sign on to make the movie-based game.
At least Anderson or Boll didn't get their hands on Silent Hill.

Oh,right anime, that's where I heard of it.Well,I suppose you have to know the series(I guess it's a series?) to know the film.Is it worth watching if you don't know the storyline?
Talon
Jul 7 2005, 11:37 PM
The series lasts 26 eps, the movie ends it all (acting like another 3 eps). No point in watching the movie if you haven't seen the series. Don't get me wrong, its visually stunning, but it wont make any sense.
The series is one of the hall mark aniume series. Its actually really old now, but its still got most anime fans as its fan base,
Its very dark though. Starts of a action mecha story with some happpyness..... then gets really really dark....... and the end of the movie makes me want to kill myself (seriously, I have to watch oh my goddess right afterwards to take away the temptation).
Its actually one of the only Dark animes I can stand. Although it took me ages to actually get into it.
Still, its an anime classic.

I hope Anderson doesn't get the director's rights, but good news is Weta is doing special effects.

The only way I can see of stopping him is to turn him into a deaf, blind mute or to imprison him. I don't want to be sadistic, but sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind.

We already went through this about 2 pages back, as burnside said, all the main predators died as did the aliens, but at the end there were more predators, but the alien had implanted it's seed in the predators body and erupted from it. Basically, nobody won, and nobody ever will

No matter how awful that film was, I was still curious about what an alien that came from a predator would look like, maybe it would be different.
nick_fury
Jul 9 2005, 09:58 PM
doubt it, they come from eggs, and are only in the body for a few hours, probably not enough for them to be able to adapt or vary based on their host
Mr Ed
Jul 9 2005, 10:00 PM
Well, judging from the other alien films, which I don't know if you have seen, the alien build would be different. In Alien 3 the aliens came from cows, those guy were very small and very fast, they also looked quite different from the classic aliens.
This is why I think they would have made the predator based aliens look different.

Cows? The Alien 3 alien came from a dog
Talon
Jul 9 2005, 10:05 PM
The action figure range also based itself on the idea that different hosts will influence the alien's DNA and thus appearance. Hence we had Scorpion aliens, Gorilla Aliens, Snake Aliens, Crab Aliens, Bull Aliens etc etc
Mr Ed
Jul 9 2005, 10:09 PM
In Alien 3 they came from cows. They two prison inmates had a dead cow/bull and they hooked it up in the carving place. They kept complaining about the stench and talked about how they had no idea how the beast died.
Then, after they left, an alien shot out from the dead bulls stomach.
I wonder if we are talking about the same film. I am 90% sure this happened in Alien 3 as I watched it the other day. I could be wrong though, I suppose.

Dude I have Alien 3 on DVD, I;ve seen it a dozen times.
There is only two Aliens.
First Alien comes from a prisoner's dog
Second Alien is a Queen which comes from Ripley in the last minute.
There is no cow involved, you're thinking of something else.

"A large dog owned by one of the prisoners stays by the crashed lifeboat, barking at something inside.... in another part of the complex a very sick dog will shortly be put out of his misery....I must give kudos here for showing that the form of the alien depends on the host. Bursting forth from a
dog created a smaller creature that runs on all fours much of the time."

The first alien comes out of a bull type animal. An 11 year old animal called Babe.

Maybe the special edition is different.

"Dog chest burster is totally replaced with the original Ox chest burster. "

Jul 9 2005, 10:22 PM

Ah yes, that would be it. Problem solved.
Well still, the point stands. If it was different whether it came from an ox or a dog, it would possibly be different if it came from a predator.

Maybe to many people complained about a dog dying, I know for me its death scene was the most disturbing part of the movie.
The site says there are a few new scenes, including one where they capture it and come guy lets it go thinking its a god or something. - "Golic setting it free, thinking he was a servant of the beast." That never happened in the original.
I have the Alien Saga box set, which one do you have?

Very interesting, yeah in the SE one, he does this as he thinks the alien is a fire dragon that wants to be his master. He lets it go and it bites his head off.
QUOTE

Not any of the box sets, not sure why. I have all of the special edition ones. I also have AVP, but I craftily traded that to nick fury for Platoon.
Maybe soon I will sit down and watch the theatrical versions, there are probably quite a few differences.

I have played the games(they are quite popular here),and there are different species of aliens, depending on the host it is born from.
There is the normal drone, the predalien, and a thing called praetorian, which is supposed to be some kind of evolved alien with armor plating(and it is bigger than the other ones). The predalien is slower but stronger than the simple drone.I think there is also a smaller, faster version, but I forgot the name.
Talon
Jul 9 2005, 10:37 PM
Found the reason for the change
"In the original filmed version of _ALIEN^3_ the alien came from a cow, not
a dog (the entire movie was filmed before they decided to change the "host"
to a dog) Since the alien didn't act like a cow (ie: this alien was more
aggressive, however, a cow would be considered less aggressive than a
human) nor did the film makers originally base the alien's actions on those
of a dog, this works against the DNA theory. The "cow" scene is also
supported by the novel by Alan Dean Foster [page 58]."

Mr Ed
Jul 9 2005, 10:38 PM
Ah very interesting. Yeah, when I heard about the dog I thought they may have done that to create a similarity between the species' attributes.
Thanks for answering the question once and for all snake.
