It happens when they least expect it -- a crash, a feeling of being watched, a shimmer of a figure, loud noises, voices. "The only time I was ever scared was when we first moved in," said homeowner Jana Majors. "I was the only one here and I was taking down some wallpaper in the master bedroom. I had the overwhelming feeling that I was being watched and whoever was watching me didn't like what I was doing. I couldn't stay there. I left and spent the night at my mom's."Jana, her husband Keith, and their children Aaron and Ariel, have lived in the historic Cherokee Avenue home in Bartlesville called "Mancill House" since June 2003.The feeling of being watched was only the beginning. Soon they were hearing loud knocks on the bedroom doors and seeing a "heat shimmer" on the staircase. An overnight friend reported seeing a tall man with a beard in the dining room. At first the woman thought it was Keith, then she realized he was out of town.A former housekeeper experienced a strange dream related to the house."She said she had the most vivid dream she'd ever had," said Majors. "In the dream she was on a ladder cleaning windows, and moving from one window to the next. Each time, a drawer appeared to her and when she opened it, she saw an increasingly older set of clothes, like wedding attire. She said the older they got, the better condition they were."The woman was very agitated by the dream and Majors decided to investigate the house's history.
