You're very lucky Chin to have just stopped using your inhaler...however for some people, myself included, it's not about just a regular inhaler...but about regualted steroids...allergy pills etc etc...since I was born it's just about keeping my heart rate low...even getting emotional causes me to breath badly, but I rarely use the rescue inhaler anymore...just the daily meds to keep my asthma regulated. I've started on the nebulizer around the time I could walk and through most of all my school years, I would have to wake up 10 minutes early every morning just to take all my medicine. Now I'm 20 and thanks to technology and combinations of medicines, I've got it down to a steroid and inhaler a day...1 minute and I'm set all day. Sad thing is, if I didn't get my medicine from Canada, I would have to pay a good $200 a month for my medicines here in America. I've tried to slowly ween myself off...and stop completely too...it doesn't matter. I always end up in the hospital either way.
As far as just the right veggies or not....I'm quite sure it's true they can help anything. I know the one thing that always worked with my asthma was weed. I don't reccommend it, I don't smoke it because it's illegal, but it helped and prevented breathing problems. As far as a proper veggie diet, I'm sure if it was a diet based on keeping acids in the body low or regulating any problem/disease with the body, it would take much more of a specific diet plan aside from just having the right veggies or not. But I bet they do help tremendously.
Hi, I'll be glad when we can discover a practical cure for asthma. You mentioned weed, I've heard that making tea out of just the roots of hemp plants(without toxicity) help to cure asthma, or at least relieve it. You mentioned allergies as well, mine have gone away...
The reason for my allergies going away I believe is because I moved from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada to Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada. Where I live now I think the air is much more clean, and there are probably many other contributing factors...
I think the inhaler I used to use had steroids in it as well. I really didn't like the idea of taking steroids, which was one of the reasons why I basically decided I was going to stop using it.
If stopping taking medication is going to lead you into the hospital, then it obviously isn't good to do that as you've learnt. But I think it's possible to make your body and lungs able to work better and more effectively, and heal the cause of the problem in the first place, even while still taking medication. Eventually it may be possible to get off the medication as well.
Even things like meditation and breathing excercises may help such a condition. Something like Qigong, which is an ancient art of healing.

Hey this thread has scared the pants off of me....i've always had trouble with acid stomach so i spose i'm very acidic......what should i be eating in my diet to change things round ????????
Thanks
Hi, I'm wondering what you mean here.... I'm assuming that you have heart burn all of the time, or severe heartburn? I can't imagine what else it might mean to have acid stomach.
Heartburn can be caused by several things. I imagine the most common cause of severe heartburn would be ulcers or eroded parts of the stomach, etc, from acid. As people have written here, alot of the foods we eat are acidic, like white bread, chocolate bars, meat, etc.
So if you have a very acidic stomach it would make sense to reverse that with things that are non acidic, such as vegetable juices..
The way to get rid of heartburn is to drink cabbage juice. I can guarantee that if you have really bad heartburn all of the time and drink cabbage juice, it would go away. For my Dad, he had severe heartburn in his chest and stomach accompanied with pain. I diagnosed him as having ulcers and found a way to heal them. I found out that cabbage juice does that. After the very first drink within seconds his heartburn went away. Over time the ulcers were healed, no more pain or heartburn....
Here's a link to a site that suggests cabbages are excellent for getting rid of ulcers because cabbage has an amino acid in it that stengthens the lining of the stomach and provides blood flow to it.

Honey is also mentioned as a healer of the stomach lining, along with unripe plantains.....
