This castle is chiefly known as a romantic folly supposedly reproducing a small medieval Welsh chieftans stronghold built in the 1870s for the 3rd marquess of bute to a design by William Burges and possessing the most remarkable interior decoration. However , it was built upon the remains of a 13th century castle built in two stages....

One of the legends are that the young son of Dame Griffiths, fell into a bottomless pool of dark water within the precints and was never seen again...His mother was unconsolable and soon died from her grief. Her ghost relentlessly continues to wander about the castle and its surrounding woods.

Believe me , I used to live in Wales near where this Castle is and it is a truely remarkable sight...It is like a fairytale to view.. Its the type of castle I would love to marry someday in.
