I don't think the "earth" will end before humans (in the sense of blowing up with us still on it) we will kill ourselves out before the sun does whatever suns do. Most species only exist for a certain amount of time (cockroaches being the exception) and with the way the human race is selfishly killing the planet..i give it another 500 years and humans will be no more. Maybe a similar species will emerge about a million years later, if the sun is still doing its thing

I agree but I also am siding with the fact that the Ice Age might occur and beat humans to starting of hate and jealousy.

I'm going with Ice Age. When I was in H.S I had a friend whos brother is a scientist and he has been saying for 25 years that the ice age is comming again. the winters seem colder in the north and we have alot of rain. .... Seems like the weather is flipping though. The south changing to northern weather and the north changing to southern weather....

I think it will happen a few billion years from now when the Andromeda galexy collides with ours. Radiation from the supermassive black hole in the center of Andromeda will sterilize the planet.

I live in Texas and the winters here seem to be getting warmer and warmer, the cold air not lasting near as long. I've lived in Texas for 9 years and the weather here is the strangest I've ever seen.

One day it snowed nearly a foot and the next day it was 70 degrees Farenheit!!!

Everyone in Texas knows one thing, you can't predict the weather, the weathermen even say it.

But 9 years ago, the seasons were steady, there was never these drastic ups and downs. There a lot of things that can cause these drastic changes, but the Earth's temperature is steadily heating up due to global warming....

Then again, if Bush does stay in power, you're right, WW3 and lots of happy roaches, it'll be the end of dinosaurs all over again, except with a manmade asteroid.

I think that one way or another the Earth will be destroyed by the Human Race.

We will either blow our selves to kingdom come or we will pollute the atmosphere so badly that everthing will die - including us.

I have lived in Texas for 40 years and it has been like this before. Problem is most people only remeber 2 maybe 4 years back. If you look at the average temp and average number of under 40 for the last 60 years, you will find that Texas weather follows cycles in three different areas(West Texas, North & East Texas, and Central & South Texas). These cycle have shown winters with less than 10 days of under 40 deg and summers with less than 10 days of over 95 deg weather. Actual weather patterns have been known to last centuries.

Anyway it will be the sun that gives earth life that will take it away. Will humans be here then, thats another poll....

In the most positive of cases humanity will simply, slowly, disappear. Not in a great massive bloodshed, but little by little. For that event to start we need a important turning point in the history,not a revolution (we have seen too many of these) but an evolution, an evolution will mean the end of mankind as we know it and we will see the birth of a new more global humanity. In the worst of cases we will be our own downfall.

Ice ages never destroyed earth, in fact it "cleanses" it of the first "coating" of dirt much like a scrub treatment in a spa. Meteorites are usually stoped by the moon (if we're lucky by jupiter). Other natural events may create some pretty destructive effects on the human civilation but it wouldn't consume earth...Of course an interplanetary impact would be quite impressive, it would take 4 days for an object the size of mars to finish it's contact with earth, could you imaging the 4 days of having to moons and the panic that that would create...amazing...but rare.

A nuclear war would be the biggest tragedy in history, that why Einstein said in he's later years: "if I knew what would happened I would of become a clock repairman". A unstoppable nuclear war, as seen in Dr. Strangelove, is in part created by man but also by machine, the dooms day device, this would again create an Oroboro effect.

The appocalisp wouldn't mean the end of humanity, it would mean the end of the world as we know it, according to the bible all the "faithful" christians will go to heaven and all the rest will stay on hellish earth (note: heaven must be quite empty). This is one of the less likely events that would create a "end of time" scenario. Same for the alien invasion the scientific babble i could spew would be endless on this subject but let this be said:"not likely".

A large asteroid is headed towards earth, lucky us the moon blocks it's path. A few days late the moon has some weird reaction to the impact, slowly moving closer it's slowly crackling. First small debrie but as the days goes by the objects gets bigger and then at day 8 the almost splited moon has entered earths atmosphere, 2 and a haft day later moon has made physical contact with earth creating the most massive shockwave ever. All that was standing is now rubble.

I believe that the world could end by one of those options, a real possibility. But I belive that if it doesn't, the world will not last forever it will slowly dissolve because of our human needs and how everyday we destruct the world little by little, but that would happen for probably thousands or millions of years.

I would guess asteroids, polution, or possibly cessation of water in the far future.

Most likely none of us will be around for any of these events for us to witness them, most likely?

i agree with what was said above me on the 1st page, earth will end when we collide with andromeda, and even by the time that event comes up we may have allready vary well have the technology to survive that, we've been on the planet for thousands of years and we've only bettered our lives, i dont see why in the future we wont better them even more, better medicine, better technologies, despite what everyone says about war killing us, i believe eventually humanity will lead to peace, and esspecially once something that major (global destruction)would come into play everyone would work together despite differences, because reguardless how much you hate someone, when it comes down to your own life, you'll do anything to save it

You know the supposed 10th planet after Neptune that was said to be destroyed and some of it's debris still travels it's original path and some debris flew out of the solar system and some traveled closer into our solar system...well, what if it did happen to Earth one day, just KABOOM!!! femme there's pluto after neptune and that would be one erratic orbit for a planetoid to swing beyond pluto and still be able to make it back as close to the sun as we are. There was some speculation about an extra planet but anything big enough to be called a planet in a region after pluto would simply drift off on it's own.

No, I didn't mean after Pluto, I meant the orbit of a tenth planet between Neptune and Pluto....the orbits from Mercury to Neptune are "normal" and then it seems to skip an orbit where the supposed tenth planet used to be and then there's Pluto.

Also, as far as the Earth's end, I think the sun will grow into a Red Giant, and it's growth before that will cause all the moisture to dry up off earth, causing a Venus-like environment...unlivable. And then the Red Giant will engulf planets, starting with our little Mercury.

How do you believe Earth will end?

The questioner is not clear in his mind about the concept of Earth and what exactly he wants to know. Earth is planet, a huge sphere of matter on which there are so many living beings. All the answers may be correct in different sense.

The planet earth will end in the last only when sun will swallow it. There may be a great destruction due to third world nuclear war soon. But living beings will survive. After that an astroid may collide then life of man may end but some living beings may still survive. If any heavenly body colloids with earth then it will be end of life on earth. It may not be very soon.

A question should be such that it should have only one specific answer to avoid unnecessary confusion.

I think that the end of the world is more likely to happen by scientific accident. Somebody could create an uncontrollable black hole or a super-virus. The black hole would, of course, consume all of earth. The virus may be so strong that it kills all things biological until there is nothing living on the face of the earth. Both of these things can happen in the near future. All it takes is one irresponsible scientist with ambition.

I love to play chess game but i am very surprise to play this software which is far beyond my imagination.I installed it and play.For the beinginning, i keep losing to this software but i learn my mistakes.And finally i find it's weak area.And i win this game.So i think this must be the bug of this software.I keep playing on this area and i win again but after the 3th times,this software learn his mistake and change his move.This time i lose again,and i find other way to win it but ,he keep on improving and i no more can win it.

And you will not kill your parents. Your statement sounds like we will eventually kill our creators. Sure there are cases of children killing their parents, but there are far more cases where this scenario has not occurred.

here is what i think will happen.

The year is 2012, china has become a superpower. China is waiting for the right time to strike and take taiwan over. The time is right and China decides to attack, The UN decides to take action to stop China. Russia says that the UN is a "western" group and decides that it is no longer going to take it, Invades Europe. A coalition to stop the chinease. the russia and china sends there nukes, the west sends theres. BOOM the human race is gone.

The only problem with that is that the countries in the 3rd world countries might survive.

New Viruses: AIDS, and HIV are one of the worst Viruses, Some day. We mine create a new type of virus or nature could create a new virus into our systems. Almost every year, New viruses are being Discovered, Hell, We haven't found a cure for AIDS and HIV.

Nuclear War/Nuclear Winter: There mine be a Nuclear War that mine happen in the next few years or anytime. Most of Humanity will be destoried by nukes, and after the war is over. There will be a Nuclear Winter, People will have to dig into the ground to survive the cold and New viruses and Discreses will come from the Radical. After about 50 years or so, when the Radical levels start to go down. About 95% of Mankind will be destoried by the new viruses, New Discesses, and Nuclear Radical.

Comets, Asteriods: One day a huge Rock will be coming to hit us all. But people say this: "Why don't we just shoot the damn rock with nukes?" Well it costs so much money to get a rocket into space.

Insanity: More and more people are becoming insane, Hell. I know a handfull of people who has got insane. My GrandFather been insane after WW2, He got shot in the head and lived, and that bullet scewed up his whole brain, and now he's got insane. People are going insane when they see UFOs or seeing a person jumping off a cliff and surviving it, and then later they try it and they nearly die and lived to be insane!

Robotic Tech: People say like what if I-Robot, or Terminator really does happens? Well it could happen if the Goverment is stupid and give Robots A.I.
