how come everyone on a paranormal website seems to be a sceptic all you seem to be interested in is debunking everything I mean come on can't you be open minded.

I think you would need to read all 322988 (As of this writing) to see that there ae three types of people.

1 Who question everything. 10%
2 Who Question nothing. 10%
3 Those who question things that are presented without evidence. 80%

point: Are there ghost? I don't know. I have never seen one. But enough people claim that there are ghost and that they have seen ghost, that I give it a possibility rating of 50/50. I would rather see one, than be one.

Is there intelligent life on other planets? I don't know. never been to another planet.
On this planet? Positively not.

You'll find that there is a wide spectrum of beliefs here. You just need to look for them.

Stillcrazy has a good point. I think that people have to be skeptical because of all the hoaxed stories out there. No-one wants to be labeled as gullible. Not saying that I try to discredit everything on here for the fact I do believe there is life on other planets, considering how vast the solar system is and I also believe in Ghosts b/c I have seen one when I was little, among other things I believe in. I strongly believe if I hadn't experienced various things when I was younger, I too would be skeptical about a lot of things. Would I believe that ghosts exist if I didn't infact see one with my own eyes? I really don't know. So to sum it all up, I think most people that have had strange experiences in their life would be more open and succumb more freely to the ideas of paranormal activity along with the other topics that this forum touches.

It's not that people want to discredit whats real, it's that they want to discredit the hoaxes out there that make the real occurences look like hoaxes also.

People are here looking for answers. If you truly want an answer thats the truth, then you have to discredit those that are hogwash

Belieiving everything on this site is a good way to get Burnside on your trail, but also is a bad way to figure out if the stuff is true. If you even care. Which most of us do. original.gif

We also don't want to be so open minded that our brains fall out! wacko.gif

its hard to take things as fact here on the world wide web,
ture there are people on UM that try to de-bunk everything, but i like those people the most, they might see something from a different point i didnt take in to consideration, they help me de bunk my own theories or they give me some info that may broden my interpratation.

Jack, please...

I hate how people confuse open-mindedness with being a blind believer. A skeptic isnt someone who is closed minded...
Curiosity
I'm open-minded, or at least on stillcrazy's scale about a 2.5. I knonw exactly what you guys mean about all those skeptics, the main ones being BurnSide, Disinterested, and Seraphina. They can get pretty annoying at times. cat.gif

Maybe people who "debunk" everything are just trying to make you think or look at in a different perspective. You can't believe most things that are on the net, tv, radio, magazines, or any kind of media. You can't even believe people who have pictures to prove it because it's so easy to fake thing nowadays with technology, so you can't blame them for questioning. Posting on UM forums doesn't mean you have to believe on all the "mysteries" because they are "unexplained." Maybe they are just trying to find a rational answer that is based on actual fact with proof and then maybe they'll believe.

Jack, you're right...if that's the case then do you still believe the world is flat and that there are no sexually transmitted diseases and do you still drink Coke from the early twentieth century when there was real cocaine in it. And you must also believe that the crop circles who were admitted to being made by those two English guys are actually authentic and they were lying, and you apparently also believe in everything that was PROVEN to be a hoax because I take it you are a true believer....so when someone tells you Gullible is not in the dictionary, do you believe that too? Because hey, I gotta ask, and not trying to be rude in any way, but if you took everything at face value, we would have no need for scientists and lawyers and archaelogists...You ask why? Because it's the skeptics who provide the truth in the end.
