If we say God is true, than the Devil must be as well.
And by saying that, then the battle between good and evil must of happen.
I`ve been reading up on the subject, but still can`t come to at least a reasonable
theory. Does anybody else have a clue on this?

Where do you suppose the Devil landed when he was thrown down to Earth?
And where is the pit that he remains chained up in for a 1,000 years at?
Janiel
it's nowhere, you know why?
because it was a fictional story...
like, for example...
Paul Bunyan; if he was soo tall, where did he live? in a giant house?
and where is that house? nowhere, because it didnt exist

I like to create theories and such and one of them works well for this (my friends call me the mad scientist). The theory is that chaos in only a illusion and there is only order, only complete knowledge of EVERY factor in the universe would allow one to see past the chaos and into the (insaneity) of pure order. Thus if god is all powerful and all knowing he would see the infinite order of creation and know the result of every action of his for enternity due to the infinite pattern.
So in short if there is an all powerful and all knowing god for one it would most likely be mad and second for there to be evil, god would have to be evil and if I remember correctly the devil was cast out of heaven for questioning god..... thus would the devil not be the side of good?

*NOTE* I'm agnostic

The Bermuda Triangle? Mel's Hole? North Pole? The Pyramids outline the edge of the Abyss? The Moon, Sun, Deep Space? That Trench in the ocean whatever it's called? Somewhere that's always been barren, even from ancient times?

I kinda agree with the pattern of order theory. Love Zelazny.

My husband and others saw the face of the devil in the clouds over the city, where we live.

Many people say that the city is cursed, because of the bubonic plaque and the witch trials.

As a believer in the Almighty; I believe that the Devil exists. I love the Almighty, but have witnessed the devil through other people.

As there are angels; there are demons.

I choose the Angels and the Almighty every time.

the devil isent even traped yet he hasent ben judged yet he still has a place in heaven
Angelofmercy
The devil exists only as the antithesis of goodness

I am a Christian (Catholic) and The entire story is Allegorical. IF the devil was "thrown to earth" then he must have come from the sky. But heaven isn't in the sky...

He's not chained up anywhere, he's alive and roaming about in the hearts and minds of every human on this planet. He's not a real person, with big horns and a pitchfork, he's the embodiment of all the nasty thoughts human beings come up with

For an example check out the thread on the barnyard animals in LA)

It is a FACT that Jesus walked the earth. It is also a FACT that he never said he was the son of God.

A fact? I disagree. But I suppose some people view "facts" differently.

My view of "fact" is there is NO proof of any God. The Bible is "not" fact, it's a man made book with a perception of what people thought God was and wanted.

I realize that just because there is no proof that a God(dess) exist, doesn't make it so - it means to me that no one can "define" what God(s) are, and what they think. That is why spirituality belongs to the individual and not to a group of people setting the "rules" because they think they know the truth.

That's my opinion anyway. Any of you read the Tao? If not, may I suggest you look into it? I think you'll find something quite sublime.

I am a Christian, yes the Bible is man made, written by man. Sorry Blazer. For a Christian though it is the word of God and a guide to live by.

If man did not write it, than who did? The books were authored by man and their perception of God and God's word - based presumably on the influence of God. I can show you other theological doctrines that were written by men, and the followers feel their writings are the "truth" and the bible is false.

For Christians it is a path, a doctrine to live by. I respect that. For someone like me, it is a book. I find no truth in it for me. It's not meant to be insulting in ANY way. I do not believe that any man can know the "True" word of any God. We have our perceptions and our spirituality. Based on our experiences, our own truths and opinions we choose the path we feel is right for us. For whatever reason, may it be a book, a thought, or lack thereof.

In the end however, all we have is man's word in what he THINKS is the truth. My view on it, anyway. wink2.gif You of course, are welcome to your own.

As far as the Devil is concerned, my opinion is that such a character does not exist. I feel it's used as a control mechanism. Now as far as the balance of "good" and "evil" - one concept cannot exist without the other. I call it the Tao.

That was a good theory, jenk! It made sense! Well, I think the devil exists, but, as Angelofmercy said, it exists in the minds and hearts of humans. I believe in God and Heaven, mainly because I hope that there is a place without all the corruption that is on Earth.

I may have posted about my theory of the devil b4 but here it goes again

God is good he rewards good lives with heaven,
Devil is bad, god punishes bad people by sending them to hell

so my question is this

Why would the devil do gods work for him? the devil and god dont like each other, so if someone upset god enough to go to hell, i rekon the devil would meet you with a bottle of bud and a deck chair!
