It's not easy being a billionaire, and with the world mired in an economic slump, it has gotten even tougher, Forbes business magazine said on Thursday. The net worth of the 476 billionaires on Forbes' annual list of the world's wealthiest people totaled $1.4 trillion, a drop of $141 billion from last year. Bill Gates, 47, the chairman and co-founder of software giant Microsoft Corp., is still the richest person on the planet, with a fortune of nearly $41 billion.

$41 Billion dollars makes the price of almost anything seem like pocket money. If you had that sort of money to spend, what would you spend it on ?

Feb 28 2003, 04:34 PM
If I had 41Billion, I would purchase my own private island in the south pacific. Of course I would also have a store and recreation facilities built, and be served by chicks in bikinis

Wow! That's alot of cheese.
I'd buy 2 ounces of californium-252, but if they decided not to sell me that, then i would build an exact replica of Vlad Tepes's castle.

id buy a quaint house, set up an account that insures an inflation adjusted income of $50,000 a year for the rest of my life and provides for health/life/property insurance, then i would donate the rest to charity.

Mar 1 2003, 02:11 AM
Homer I think you should buy Newzealand . It's a great little island in the pacific and the chickies are allready here
If I had all that money , I would start up scholaships for hard working low income earners , put a substantial amount into biodiversification studies , ecological Improvements and save my self a couple of Billion to travel the world looking for trinkets to put into Museums for public displays and education.
Yeah, then after I bought new lighting for our kitchen I'd buy a new muffler for my car.
I don't need one but I'd buy it anyway. Thats why my baby loves me so much, I'm just a wild and crazy guy.

then I'd get the blades sharpened on my mower.
With 41 bn dollars I would.....
Steal some revolutionary piece of technology form IBM, create a company called "Microhard", pay all the top lawyers in the world to lie for me, and make another cool 41 bn dollars in 20 years!!!
However seriously with 41 bn dollars I would:-
Go back home to Gibraltar, and create the most advanced/futuristic hospital in the world, with the best doctors and researchers in the world, with the newest developed technology, with airlift facilities, as well as any other amenity which would further enhance the environment and quality of care for the patient. I would also install myself as one of the physios in the hospital. Once I start raking in the money, I'll open even more splinter facilities in impoverished countries, where medical care will be free, so that all children may receive vaccines. Then after I receive the Nobel prize for peace, and medicine I will retire to the Galician mountains in Spain, where I will build a farm and work the land till, well until the end.
No....No wait, I would buy new mower. A 52 inch cut John Deere mulching mower then with the money I had left over I would buy my Baby a new mop with a handle so's she don't have to get down on her hands and knees and scrub the barn floor anymore. I do know what the ladies like

Kismit,
I like your idea about New Zealand, and that it already has the chicks. I also have no doubt you’re one New Zealander who I would enjoy to have show me around. But I don’t really need all those chicks. All I need, and all I want, is my darlin’, and the only way I would go to NZ, or any other island, is if she comes with me

Mar 3 2003, 01:43 PM
Wow Homey,
that sounds like an offer no woman could resist!
Homer
Mar 3 2003, 01:47 PM

I hope she wouldn’t resist. All I need to do now is come up with $41 billion

You wouldn't need $41 Billion, Homey!
(you could always get a smaller island)
The Council of Nine
Mar 3 2003, 02:13 PM
I would build a school in every country (yes every single one..!)
A simple test before hand would split the "people" (no restrictions) into the correct classes.
The only requirement would be a willingness to learn.
Any money left I would buy a house in NZ somwhere (remote).
Can I have my money now please...?

KC,
You’re right, and it’s not the size of the island that matters, but who you’re sharing the island with.

I agree with what everyone says and when I asked my friends what they would do with $41 Billion it took a long time for one friend to answer. This person is not much of a friend

she broke me and my x up....

....anyways she said she would buy three hummer h2's, five mustangs, seven mercedes, and some other car. Then she would buy four mansions, one in Michigan, one in New York, one in Florida and one in Australia. To get to her houses she would buy a private jet of hers named Christy (obviously her name) then she would buy this guy, who doesnt like her, a new car because his is in the shop now, then she would buy the Cayman Islands and make it a mango and turtle farm (which they do have) because she loves mangos and turtles. I know you think this person is very selfish, I do too, and the list till goes on...

....but I am not gonig to finish it.

If I had 41 billion I would bu a huge Island and start research on the most powerful sciences of the universe....Gravity control,Atomic research for unlimited peaceful power,a food replication devise to feed the world free of charge and 4th weapons of unimaginable power to keep all leaders and greedy creeps of this world from stoppig me or taking the first three things... I can't be bought or bribed and I would'nt hesitate one billionth of a second to vaporize an entire continent if the first three were threated for a second no debates no mercy!!!! And don't think I would'nt perfect a Force field to stop any space weapons or crap the US or GB or Russia has right now That would be in there too......And no absolute power would not corrupt me or make me think I'm some God..just a concerned HUMAN!

[COLOR=blue][SIZE=7][FONT=Impact] probably fund some medical research, most likely into the cancer that killed my mom as its rare apparently and under researched. then probably AIDS. I would also like to fund some sort of animal program to help endangered species and gives them guns so they can shoot back. Oh yes and shoes, well come on.....
Homer
