We've been having some strange stuff going on for a while now, and its just increasing and getting worse. I've been looking everywhere for information on how to STOP this.
It started simple, the TV in our bedroom would turn itself off. Then ... days later, it added on to its list of tricks. We blamed this on a neighbor with a good remote, or mabye power surges. We just turned it on (or off) as we needed and went about life...
Then, the radio in our bathroom started. This one is harder to explain away. Its a battery powered bathtub cd player and radio. It turns itself on and off, but mostly on.. as we have stopped turning it on ourselves. We've changed the batteries thinking mabye that would help, but it didnt. Its not always on the same station when it turns on, and neither my husband or I have changed the station. We do have kids, but this bathroom is on an upper floor of our house, and the kids NEVER use it (its forbidden territory). You cant even get to it without walking by our bedroom door, so we'd see the kids if they were going in there.
The turning on and off only happens at night, and most often around 3 am. The radio turned on last night, while my husband and I were in the shower. Neither of us was even close enough to touch it, much less turn it on.
We have parrots, and they have been.... agitated. Thats the best way I can explain it. For example, one of them launched herself at me... with the intention of hurting me badly. I had to wrap her in a towel and return her to her cage, locking her in to stop the attack. Now, she's my husbands bird and doesnt much care for me, but that was way worse than ever before.
Last week my husband had to get stitches in his lip because my parrot bit him. She's NEVER done anything like that before.. and she remains agitated.
We have our birds seen by a vet OFTEN, and they are all in good health. We did have one get ill out of the blue, right after a vet appointment where it was healthy as a horse, and it nearly died on us. Medication has cleared it up and she's back to normal. I'd like to blame that on something odd in the house, but the fact is parrots can do that ... they get sick fast when they do get sick.
Our dog has taken to howling, which he has never done without a siren before. You know, when the siren goes by the house all the neighborhood dogs howl, he was like that. Now, he just howls out of the blue. He's 8 years old, and has never done it before this week.
Its just getting worse, happening more often, and affecting the birds more and more. The birds seem to feel this more than anyone, and all of them have been very agitated and annoyed for days now.
Anyone have any idea how to stop this? Or even what it is???

How long have you been living in this house? Do you have any teen daughters? many times a teen daughter in the house can cause things to happen. Something to do with turmoil and hormones.
Iv'e noticed in my experience that an awful lot of things go bump in the night at 3 am.

We've been here about five years now. No, I do have a teenage son... but no daughters.
I think I'd sleep through the "bumps" in the night, except they wake me. The tv is loud, and the radio has pulled me out of sleep a few times.
My husband is a lifetime insomniac, never sleeps more than a few hours a night max, and he's been awake for a LOT of it. His annoyance at the tv turning off or on on him is getting huge, he even stood at our window with his remote determined to shut off someone else's tv since they were shutting off ours with a remote..... thats before the radio started its games.
Oh, and I have a question... I dont follow this stuff, but of course I've been reading while waiting for someone to tell me Im just nuts.. and whats this about orbs?
The reason I ask is that I took some photos of my husband and his bird just last night, and I ended up not liking them enough to use because they had "spots" in them.... they are still on my digital camera though.
I just want this to stop, not keep getting bigger and uglier.

Well, I've had my TV turn on and off. It does creep me out. mostly because I'm alone when it happens. And I hate that feeling. Almost like something bad is going to happen and no one will be there for you.
I have been having my computer turn off and on. I don't know if anyone else has had this. But that can get old also.
As for the radio, I would blame it on a ghost or some sort of ghostly adnormal frequency. But most likely just a ghost. I don't know what else to say, I've heard so many similar ones...
I have a parakeet and a cockateal. They tend to flip out around the same time I get the chills. Or just for no reason go crazy.

I'not sure about the orbs. I don't understand them as well as others on this site do. There are many people here who could tell you about them. You could post you pictures here and let others look at them and let you know what they think.
The problems in the house could be supernatural. What we did when I was a kid was call a minister to come and pray with us. My mom is a born again christian and she prays everyday. seems to work.

Well, now Im curious and Im looking through my camera. I have photos on there from before this stuff in the house started, up to last night.
Its a pretty good camera, and takes some great shots, and I admit I was pretty ticked off at the spots. I liked the pictures otherwise.
I guess the best I can do is look through, find the ones with spots (i've found one so far) and let someone here who knows what the heck they are looking for look at them.

At our house when I was a kid every morning at 3 am our furniture would flip over and our tv would turn on and off. We would also hear voices and see shadow people walking around.
Animals do react to things we can't see. It may be the reason why they are acting so strange.
Do you know the history of the house? I know that abuse of children could cause this to happen. Violent death. Anyone playing with a ouija board?
Is there anything new going on in your family causing excess stress? have you noticed changes in anybody who lives in the house?

I've read a few articles on orbs and from what I have read there are alot of things that can go wrong with the camera ie.. dust, rain, water spots etc... Hopefully someone here can help you with that.

This is a simple verification of the presence of the after life. Was the house used when you bought it or was it new in the neighborhood? There might also be the chance that there is someone taring to get your attention to warn you before something happens in the future. The best thing to do is to turn down the volumes on all of the radios and TV's when done using them because there might be using them for there own pleasures! Allow it to run, but you may turn the volume down. This case has came up before.
I hope this imformation helps you!!

Sounds scary.
I personally would move, but I am chicken that way.
As for the orbs, my take on it is dust or moisture illuminated by the flash. I have never seen an orb that wasn't caught when the picture was taken without a flash.
If you have ever seen sunlight streaming through a window on a sunny day you noticed that there is a lot more dust in your house than you ever thought. If you notice you can see dust particles floating about when they are illuminated by the sunlight, but not when they are in the shade. Same thing, in my opinion.
There are some folks here that see picures taken that have an "orb" in them and will swear on a stack of bibles that they are proof of ghosts, but I don't buy it.
As for electronics going on and off, it is hard to say without actually being there. I am a big believer in occams razor, so my first guess would be a faulty tv or a neighbor with a remote on a similar frequency that just happens to catch at certain times more than others...As for the shower radio it could be anything including a on/off switch that is faulty from getting wet.
Those are my first guesses, but as I said without actually seeing it happen there is no way that anyone here is going to be able to help much. There are folks that specialize in finding out if you have ghostly activity or if it is something more down to earth...
I don't know what to tell you other than I am sorry that you are going through this and hope it works out for you...

We do have some major stress going on, but it has been going on for a couple years now. My husband was injured at work and we've been fighting for proper health care since then.
If my furniture starts flipping over, Im flipping moving.
The bathroom radio just came on again, like right as I am typing this, Im going to go turn it off.
We know the man who owned it before us tore down the original house and built our house on the foundation of the old one. The one before was 100 years old, and falling apart. We live in an old mining town, and our house bumps up against where the train track used to run... its a big empty field for 10 blocks now. Most of the houses here are either rebuilt on the foundations of an old one, or they are 100 years old or more.
Im adding attachments, of some of the pics with spots. Im also adding the photo taken right after one of them, because I dont see how it could be dust but NOT on the photo taken right after. The one that has me kind of flipping out (after looking) is of Char, our most recent arrival parrot. He's been with us a month now. The photo taken right after was mabye 40 seconds later, as he walked to a different spot on the bed.
Another one that made me think (as Im suddenly finding myself reading up on "orbs") was the one of Dayo and Char both on the swing wet. I didnt use a flash to take that one, as we had plenty of natural light from the windows. But, there is a spot in it that I nearly missed, just above the cage ... it kinda looks like its on the wall, but I looked at the wall just now and theres nothing there.
The one of my husband and his parrot, I have the photo just after and its spot free too.
Ok, so whats going on?

Well, if your house is built on a foundation that old your best bet may be to go to the library and try to find some history on your area. Jeez, an old mining town and old train tracks, can you imagine how many lives may have been lost there.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Our house is only around 30 years old. But as being in PA, and being right near the Brandywine battle field. You know some deaths happened around here.
As for the pictures, they seem more like a flash. I'm not really into orbs...Because I don't see how a camera can pick them up and not a human.

On my opinion *bows humbly*...
The photos posted showed no signs of an orb. An orb is something that you can actually see with your own eyes while taking a pic, and it's nothing like the spots on the pics, which are clearly reflections of the camera lense. To picture how an orb would look like, imagine a rope that has a burning rag at its end (only it's white light, not yellow or reddish) and you spin this rope around. Picture it without the rope, and somewhat slower. The movement is also random. Elliptic, orbiting around an area (notice: orbiting), but not a perfect cirle.
The events with TV/radio could be explainable too without having to think there "are ghosts in the house". I'm not saying that 100% it's like this and "no, there are no ghosts you silly", I'm just saying that they could be explainable. There's a whole bunch of reasons why a TV can go off by itself, and another bunch of why a radio can go on by itself. (I won't even begin to explain what a computer can start doing by itself!)
I remember something that happened last year. At 3.20 a.m. (I checked the time, you'll see why) our smoke detector went on. We woke up, checked, no fire. Went back to sleep. An hour later, exactly one hour later, at 4.20 a.m. it went on again, without a reason. I just tapped it, it stopped, never went on again.
Weird, huh?

I lived in a very old building for a couple of years while I was in college. There was always spooky stuff going on in that house. There was definitely something electrically wrong with that place. I don't know if they were power surges or what but we had a similar problem. Lights, radios and tv would turn off and on like crazy. We even went to unplugging stuff so it would not turn on in the middle of the night. That kept things from turning on but not from turing off obviously. After a couple of months the house started to vibrate on its foundation, almost to the point of shaking. WE would ask our neighbors if they felt it and they always said no. It was really creepy because we never could explain the phenomenon and we eventually moved.
Bless your house,
Take a large bowl of salt and sprinkle a pinch or two over the exterior doorways and windowsills of your home. Make certain you get each and every one.
Choose the room that has the strongest negative feel to it. Light a white candle. In a large fire proof bowl combine the following:
1 tablespoon powdered garlic,1 tablespoon peppermint, 1 tablespoon ground clove, 1 tablespoon dried/powdered thistle, handful or two of sweetgrass, sage or dried oak leaves
Carefully light the mixture so that it smolders, giving off an aromatic smoke. Leaving the candle lit, carry the bowl in to each room and repeat the following:
In the name of the Eternal Lady and Lord I bid thee part.
I consecrate and clear this space.
Let nothing but joy linger here.
When you have done each room, return to the first, set the bowl beside the candle and wait for the remaining mixture to burn out. Take the ash outside and sprinkle it over the grass/flowerbed/etc, thereby returning it to the Mother.
Start keeping a log of events, note dates, times , what you were doing, etc. see if there is a pattern of the activity. Keep us updated, my prayers are with you.

Now that, is something that I would only do if I saw a sworm of ghosts stabbing eachother while I'm taking a shower.
Well smallpackage...lucky you it's not happening in your house. And with a name like smallpackage....er...never mind.
