dontgetit.gif Where does the universe stop? If its some sort of circle or something.. whats beyond it? I mean, Its not like there a giant brick wall.. and if there is what is beyond that? dontgetit.gif

dontgetit.gif If god created us, or for some people.. if we came from evolution, who created god? and who created whatever created god? if we came from evolution, how did we get here? where did space and everything come from? where did the first thing made come from? dontgetit.gif

All I can say is, I don't really know.

Some people say the Universe is constantly expanding and eventually could potentially reach maximum expansion and start colapsing back into itself. But this means there has to be something outside for it to expand like this. There is a theory that the universe loops into itself, its infinity. Another theory is our universe simply bubbled off another, which bubbled off another, and this sequence lasts forever.

If God created us this means that something had to have created God and so forth. These answers can't be easily answered. Some say that God is an everlasting being, and he just was. Others say the big bang theory created the universe. But some say this can not account for the billions of galaxies or, the amount of particles needed to make the universe. But then you have to think what was before the big bang, and could God have started it? Other theorys claim that we are not reality, and we live in a "Dream World," and we essentially, are not really here. Like the matrix maybe?

There is a 'Brane-Storm' theory which, challenges part of the big bang theory.
"But instead of a universe springing forth in a violent instant from an infinitely small point of infinite density, the new view argues that our universe was created when two parallel "membranes" collided cataclysmically after evolving slowly in five-dimensional space over an exceedingly long period of time.

These membranes, or "branes" as theorists call them, would have floated like sheets of paper through a fifth dimension that even scientists admit they find hard to picture intuitively. (Our conventional view of 3-D physical space, along with time, make up the four known dimensions.)"

Its frustrating. We may never be able to find out for sure.

Where does the universe stop?

It dosent, the universe is all that there is. It is expanding (the bulk of what we can observe)

Some things, we will never know. We can argue all we want about it, debate till we're blue... but answers to these questions dont seem to be available

I'd suggest reading through a search on "Universe" (threads with universe in title)

And browsing the spirituality and skepticism board for more on god

I don;t know about the first one, but God is said to have always been in existence. Since we are limited in our time (Not immortal) We can't understand how God always was

Some things just are not meant to figure out. That first question resembles 90% like my question at another site. Basically exact words. What strange coincidence. Anyway I hearing something about a force field dividing up dimensions. Those stars that look blue and twinkly are so far that light takes almost 210 million years to reach. And from where those stars stand that's not even one percent of the size of the universe. My point is there is no end. I know stars exist, but do the stars that they say that are 93848326283943030384485238904093845 miles away? Taking light 210 million years? (That's about the closest I can get in miles. I didn't just make that number up.) Man says this is true, but do you think something that size really exist? Or is those said to be stars are just a Floating virtual image or force field that nothing can ever reach. Because if what man says is right, then the our sun which is over 100,000 times the size of the earth is 100 times smaller than a virus, compared to one of those twinkly blue stars. Which I personally think is too huge and far away for man to predict their size and the size of the universe. I can't say where the universe ends but I don't think what you can see is the beginning or the end, if you get my drift. Some questions just can't be answered.

I heard the same as Diebytheflyguy. That the Universe expands. I don't know we can ever really find out where and if it ends.

If you are a believer in God as I am, he tells us not too lean on our on understanding. Meaning we dont have all the anwsers and dont let scientisits with there theorys convice you that he did not create us and the world.

If I sounded like one of the extreme anabaptists sorry.

Heres what I believe.

The entire universe is an infinetly regressing and progressing event that has been going round and round in time forever. You cant see the whole universe because the farther you get away the more detail thats lost.

I base this belief on the way the universe really works.

First:
Galaxies(made mostly of stars and planets) orbit something but noone knows what it is cause it doesnt have a name yet because it hasnt been discovered.
stars orbit the centers of galaxies, most planets orbit stars, moons orbit planets, but you never hear about anything orbiting moons do you?

Second:
Protons and Neutrons make up the nucleous of an atom, Electrons orbit the nucleous of an atom. Atoms make up all matter, including Galaxies, Stars, Planets, and everything with solid shape, but what makes up the smaller particles that make up atoms? Noone knows because it hasnt been discovered yet.

Whenever you ask the question, how big is the universe? remember that on the other end of the spectrum the question being asked is...how small is the universe?

I've asked myself this since I was little. I've found it best now not to think about it as it drives me crazy wanting an answer. wacko.gif

I think the simplest example of what the edge of the universe might be (the theory that when you go in a straight line, eventually you'll return to your starting point) would be, well, imagine the Earth, before planes and space shuttles. There was basically 2 dimensions of travel. If you walk around the earth (or swim, if need be), eventually you'll return to your starting point. The universe is theorised to be similar to this, but on a WAAAAY more complex scale.

I have asked myself that question myself also. No one really knows, and if someone out does know, and ppl think he or she is crazy, come to us, we will most definately believe you. thumbsup.gif

omg, I love you. I've often pondered life for HOURS on end.

The main thing I've found is that there are LOTS of endless loops.

1) Who created god? Who created the creator of god? Who created the creator of the creator of god? ...etc

2) when you move a part of your body, where does your brain get that signal from? What sends the signal to send the signal? What sends the signal to send the signal to send the signal?

The other thing I've often wondered is if we're but a partical in a larger being, if this is true, then we have hit another infinite loop:
-->Is that person inside another object? Is that object inside another object?

Anybody remember the child's story about the woman who ate a fly?

[EDIT]
One other thing I forgot to mention on a smaller scale was the fact that I believe we came from Mars... or another planet.

--> How was Stonehenge and such built if we didn't have proper technology
--> Easter Island head things
--> Pyramid
--> Sphynx

simple, WE didn't have the tools. The original erathlings did. I think we just invaded, or something crazy like that. It sounds far fetched, but it answers a LOT of questions.

From what I have read most of the ideas on this page tend to think that the universe is only in the 3 dimensions but theoretical physics states that there are many more then that. Let me try something, It has to do with containment the waters in the cup the cup is in your hand your in the house the house is in the yard bla,bla bla the planets in the solar system its in the galaxy , is a cluster in mega cluster then all objects we can see in the universe now thats the law of the 3 dimensional universe Now what contains the black? The law states that it to must be contained to be of natural law so if it is not contained then it is supernatural then.

Oh the the topic of god I think that god is not a slave of the same laws of physics as we are and time as we know it has no effect on god.because god occupies our three dimension as well as many more at the same time. So If this is to be some what true then time ,space, death ar all irrelevant. To give what im saying a picture we are like fish and are stuck living in our watery universe and can not go into the other parts of the universe like the air, but god as a being can see and occupy both realms of them, this what its like to be god( kinda).
thats my 2 cents original.gif

a quick look at the average human.
1) he is made of a diverse amount of cells
2) he has veins that connect all of his body together and supply the body with blood
3) he has organs that keep his body in order

a quick look at the average city
1) it has a diverse population of people
2) roads connect people to their workplaces and an economy is formed
3) it has authority figures that maintain order

a quick look at the average country
1) it has a HUGELY diverse population of people
2) roads connect cities to supply(food, water, materials for making bigger cities).
3) it has a higher form of authority

a quick look at the planet earth
1) it has 6 billion(rough estimate) people from a near to infinate variety of backgrounds
2) roads, ships, and airplanes connect supply with demand.
3) it has yet another higher form of authority(the U.N.,NATO, various world agencies).

They share some very similar basic working principles. probly could have written that better but im kinda tired right now.
