Deadly Nightshade

When I was younger, I had to have a major liver operation to remove a large cyst on my Liver. This was no ordinary cyst as it was caused by Hydatid Disease( not sure of the spelling). Anyway It was a life or death situation but the operation was absolutely necessary.
I was extremely poorly in hospital and I remember being prepped for the op. It was a several hour procedure but it took the surgeons longer than expected for they ran into complications.
I actually remember lifting out of my body during the operation and could see myself lying asleep on the operating table with all these tubes sticking out of me.
I also remember the doctors, nurses and the surgeon talking and heard that they were listening to classical music....
Anyway, all I could see thenafter was a bright light coming through a tunnel(thats the only way I can describe it). I went closer to this light but as I got very near, I saw an angelic being and she was singing so beautiful....It was truely a wonderful sight and because I could hear the angel singing , I thought that the angel was beckoning me toward it....but then the light started to grow distant....Then after a while I recovered from the anesthetic....I couldnt believe what I saw during that operation for it was so beautiful yet I felt very poorly after coming around.
I told the doctor what I saw and that I could hear them playing classical music....He was amazed....as that was exactly what they were listening to before they started to lose me.
They told my parents that I was very lucky to have survived as I had stopped breathing and they had to resusitate me.
The moral to this true story is that I do believe in a higher power for it was that higher power which told me that it wasnt my time to cross over to the other side.
I hope you read this Lethe as maybe you will get some hope and comfort from my story.

Thank you for sharing that wonderfull experience you had
I wish sometimes I could experience it too. I dont have a death wish, but I am deeply curious to see the other side. I have had Obe before..but I am not sure it these two experiences happens at the same place.
I was wondering if any of you have any idea. One of my friend was medicaly dead for 8 minutes. He woke up not remmebering a thing, he did not have any light or experience like you have described. This has shaken a lot of his beliefs, and now he has some doubts in the afterlife. I remember the sadness in his eyes when we told me his story. I am sure he his not the only one....so I was wondering if anyone had any idea why not all people see this light or remember anything when they die??
as for myself, I have a deep faith in life after death. Not only because of the experiences I had, but because I feel like I have always knowed. But this I undersand his my own belief and how I see life, so no preessure on anyone. But when my friend told me his story, I have to agree that I was baffled and the only thing I could think of was that either he did not remember, or that prehaps his spirit was not totally conscious of the body's death.....I dont know, but it his a bit disheartening.
what do you think?

Thankyou for your story, Deadly Nightshade and Anson Cail, my stepfather, the one who's dying, also does not believe in anything because he is convinced he ' died ' thirty years ago in a terrible car accident, and he ' saw ' and experienced only blackness, which he thinks is what death is, except perhaps being aware of it, and ' nothing ', I will pass on these stories, hoping he will find comnfort in them.

Yes
This is a great story and for those of us who are sceptical there is probable a deep seated wish to experience this.
The problem with these experiences is that even though i have no doubt that it happened to you.You would have been under anasthetic and other drugs at the time so it's possible what you experienced was down to this ?.
I want to believe and there is tons of evidence for near death experience but theres a little voice in my head that says "believe nothing til you see it yourself",i wish i wasn't like this i'd be much happier being able to take things on face value ...anyways i hope i dont experience it too soon.

Yes, well, obviously I was under anesthetic at the time as this experience was during a major Liver operation when I saw this light and vision.
But the doctors that I told later was shocked to hear I knew so much of what happened in theatre that day, for they were listening to classical music at the time, the number of surgeons which were in theatre at that time was even correct. I went through the whole procedure with them and they were astonished. They also confirmed to me that they had to resussitate me.....so therefore, I believe without any doubt whatsoever, that this experience did happen to me.
I hope that I have answered some of your questions Bogeyman???

I love reading NDE stories, they are so uplifting...
Deadly Nightshade, have you told your story on
NDERF? There are
tons of NDE stories there. It's so nice just reading them.
Thank you for sharing, Anson and Nightshade.

Thank you Nightshade and Anson for sharing your stories. I had my own experience of death but I don't remember anything during this. Maybe this will help you a little, Portal. I was in a bad motorcycle accident, died on the way to the hospital and remember nothing of it. But since I can't remember any of that day or anything again until a week later. I believe my experience is either a lost memory or that I am not worthy of a blessed afterlife and the darkness is just that, death.
I'd like to ask if anyone has ever had or heard of a bad NDE? I saw on TV once where people talked of a dark bad place.

Could they be getting a glimpse of hell?
