Hi ... my pc is running Win98se & I have uptodate AV, spyremover & adremover. My spy remover keeps picking up a file with wildcard in its name called *.bat ... problem being it can't remove it, repair it or quarantine it. It seems to have the ability to keep writing a new file that I forget exact name of but partly called NGD ??? which my software CAN repair. Please can anyone help me get rid of *.bat (& maybe explain to me what it is ?)

.bat file are batch files...they allow you to write several instructions and have them carried out...it could be a bad thing... grin2.gif

I have no idea what you file is. You might want to try to reboot your computer into safe mode and delete it then...

Hey Thanks FB !!! I have an important update that Im hoping people might find helpful !!!!
I had a go myself .... Using DOS I went to the directory *.bat was identified in. Went through EVERY file & could only find 1 x .bat file. Called tmpdelis.bat ... went back to Windows, deleted tmpdelis.bat rerun spy remover & viola it was gone ! the file it re-writes NGD something was there, apparently tmpdelis.bat re-writes it whenever Windows loads. My spy program kicked the NGD file out & so BEWARE a file called "tmpdelis.bat" it appears to have a self defense mechanism that makes spy killers think its name is *.bat & it doesn't come up as a virus or advert program. Nasty little bastard eh !?!
Spread the word & if anyone knows anything else about tmpdelis.bat esp. how its xmitted or its origins plse let me know TA
