It's absolutely out of any realm of possibility that there are any gigantic winged fire breathing lizards flying around the world today.
If you believe otherwise please either show some evidence (fossil, photo, a carcass) and I will believe you.
If you've met one it's probably just a little bit of insanity kicking in.
We've discovered the fossils of creatures dating back millions of years before the dinosaurs and millions of years after. No dragons. Why? Because they don't, and never have, existed. Period.
PS. I love dragons and have since I was a young lad...I'd love to find out that they're real, but it's just not possible.
By the way, I'm very open-minded...I believe in the Loch Ness Monster and other undiscovered cryptids.

I think dragons were the representation of an evil, as heros would kill them then ask for the hand of fome one. In fact i believe it's just an other name for Devil, as it was scrilisous to say holy names.
I agree with u, with all the things u said.
Dragons are too big to escape from our vision, and if they existed in the past, some rest would have been found.

Moe thinks that dinosaurs are dragons. They were all killed a long time ago. Only a few remain but they like to hang out in murky lakes. Why you ask ? Becuase dumb people like to stare blankly at these lakes.
They like to pop out and go "boo" and scare the dumb people. This is how they get thier laughs. Even dinosaurs need to laugh.
No need to thank us.

That looks like a wax sculpture to me, the skin doesn't look layered like most animals.
As far as believing in dragons-I think some dinosaurs may resemble the modern image of a dragon, but I think dragons are just an exaggeration of those dinosaurs.

I quote from the man, SaRuMaN:
QUOTE
That photograph is of a 'baby dragon' that Allistair Mitchell claimed to have found in his garage, but is actually a clever hoax that he pulled of to promote a new book he was writing.
It fooled quite a lot of people, and was actually made by some of the people who were involved in the 'Walking With Dinosaurs' series.
QUOTE
Perhaps what people called "dragons" were actually a dinosaur at one time that went extinct later on
I tend to think that the idea of dragons stemmed from people finding dinosaur fossils and interpreting them as the remains of dragons. Whether the dragon myth came about due to this, or whether such finds simply contributed to it however remains a mystery.

Ok, I like to have evidence in my hands, (or on my screen, per say) of any plausible theory... I like the facts. But the one factor is making me say that there could POSSIBLY be an actual animal/reptilian that fits the dragon description is this.... There are historical references in all cultures that speak of a flying, scally beasty... Some say breath fire... If this dragon myth is just that, a myth and totally faulse, the why is there such a wide spread account of such creatures. I am not saying YES THERE ARE CERTIANLY DRAGONS... But what I am saying is there could possibly be a beasty that could someday be found that fills our dragon description... Dinosaurs where thought to be mythical until unearthed... The possiblility is there.. Don't you think??

I also believe the Etruscans did also.
Both, if I'm not mistaken, before the Chinese.

If you are talking about the mythical dragons, that are big and breath fire and stuff like that, then i dont think they exist.
But if your talking about the dragons like , komodo, as someone said, then they do exist.
BurnedMaskAJ
Nov 28 2004, 11:05 PM
the more i think about it i really doubt dragons exist now, but many centuries ago i don't know, i want to believe that they existed then but they could have (as somebody has said before) they could have dug up dinosaur bones and called it a dragon, or there could have been dragons but where would the skeletons be? they would have had to be dated in the last 5000 years (not saying exactly, just saying around or WAY far around there). Or they could have been talking about kamodo dragons. But it's anyone's opinion right (till it's scientificatly proven)?

I agree with the idea of dinosaur bones being found and thought to be dragons. If there was already a huge beast in a people's mythology, it would make sense they would draw from discovered gigantic bones as a model to look somewhat reptilian.
that is assuming that the people back then knew how to put the bones back together correctly...didn't it take archaeologists years to figure out how to put the bones together for just one?
