......kool... well...i dont get how to use the layers mostly... makes no sence to me at all....

I'm back....

So how exactly do you use the layers ??
Dancing_Dumplings
okie grin2.gif layers are basicly..well layers laugh.gif you have you background. which is locked so you cant move it. then you can add more layers on top of it. on each diffent layer you can add a diffrent object or drawing. like this...

the red square, the "A" and the "B" are on all diffrent layers. this is how it looks on your layers pallet, which allows you to see all the layers you have....

i know its kind of small, but you can see that each of the three layers has a diffrent element on it. layers are your friend...you love layers. it lets you edit one object with out harming the others.
say you wanted to erase the "A" normally when you erased the "a" it would cut into the red square. but since you have layers, click on the layer labed "a" and just erase whats there. and poof! its gone, but with out distroying the other elements of the picture.

try playing with the filters and such. they can be extra fun! thumbsup.gif most of the basic things you can learn by just screwing around with it. but there are more advanced things too. look em up on the net, since ps 8.0 is diffrent then yours. good luck grin2.gif that and its time for bed tongue.gif

wait one more thing laugh.gif when you save. if you are saving something that isnt finished, make sure you save it as a .psd which is the photoshop format. when you are all done with your art thing, then you can save it as a .jpeg.

.psd files are larger in size, but thats because they save all your layers and steps.

saving it as a .jpeg combines all your layers into one so its all on the background layer, so you cant go back and move layers around. they compact it all so its smaller in size.

so if your not finished, save it as a .psd, not as a .jpeg. i learned the hard way laugh.gif

ok now night laugh.gif ill probally be on tomorrow after cartoons or something grin2.gif
