As I have been viewing topics of government and questions regarding government I have noticed that some of the most sensitive and heavy topics have been erased or closed. Why is this? Is there some sort of censorship on this site? I thought that this would be the one place that I could go and find out what is really going on in the world and not what the news vomits at us. This has totally disturbed me and I feel even more paranoid now. I hope that someone can tell me why and if others have had the same problem. huh.gif

An interesting question Katie...One I've posed myself. Censorship it certainly appears to be...But it isn't. It is basically all about 'civility' and the way these debates quickly evolve into a slanging match between believers of certain viewpoints and those who don't believe the same. Each side claiming credibility and each side presenting what they believe to be the 'truth'.
Even the above statement somebody will take issue with.
In my opinion governments are by their very nature corrupt. We all know politicians lie to us and are busy lining their own pockets but what we are not often aware of...is to what extent that corruption festers and to what lengths individual members of government will go in order to ensure their protection from exposure.

It wasn't that long ago when authority refused to accept that crime had become 'organised'. When it was eventually realised it was too late...by then, crime had already become institutionalised and (without deep investigation) indistinguishable from legitimate banks and business. Today: Crime is corporate and responsible for those placed in government of the masses...Criminals run governments.
On boards such as this I'll get called a 'whacko' for my views (often am) and I will reply with 'ignorant twat' (never do) end of discussion (closed)'

There is absolutely no political censorship here, the only censorship we employ is that of uncivil behaviour.

I firmly believe that it should be possible to discuss an issue without resorting to personal attacks, name-calling and racist remarks, threads which degenerate into this can end up being closed. We don't delete threads as a rule, unless the whole topic is designed to be inflammatory.

The reason it happens more in this section is because the topics being discussed are very sensitive, and people are more likely to resort to uncivil behaviour when trying to argue their point.

But as I say, there is no political censorship. Nothing withheld, just a request for people discussing these issues to do it in a civil manner.

A prime example of the above, if 'ignorant twat' is the only thing you can come up with to put your point across then clearly the topic has ran it's course. If someone calls you a 'wacko' then report it to a moderator, don't respond with more of the same.

SaRuMaN: Didn't I just say all that...maybe no where near as well as you but, nevertheless the same point.
And regarding the quote you made...Well, that was just an example of the sort of thing that goes wrong. I've never called anybody an 'ignorant twat'...not even £$£&%*$

No, not all of it. There were still points that needed to be clarified.

4dplane,

Its best if you take up issues concerning moderators decisions concerning your thread with Saruman via the private messaging system, not publicly. The question addressed in this thread has been answered, so I'm going to go ahead and close this one down.
