I can't be the only person who does this. When writing a story, I find that it helps if I listen to the proper music while I work on it. I find songs that fit the overall theme of whatever it is I'm working on, I burn myself a cd, and I listen to it as much as possible until I've finished the story. For instance, the soundtrack to A Man, A Donkey, and a Dream is a lot of Chevelle, Peter Gabriel, and Snow Patrol.

Does anyone else do something like this? If so, what sort of music do you listen to while writing? Or, am I just a wierdo?

Anyhow I don't think its weird to write whilst listening to music...I am doing it now. When I was at Uni I used to study listening to music. For me music is inspirational anyway so it makes sense to combine the two.

music while working helps me concentrate better maybe its just the ADD meds, but i think it does im doing it now music or movies helps a lot

You're right bud! It helps a lot. For now in my super-secret project I'm listening "Drive Far Away" by Deftones, Akira Yamaoka and Led Zeppelin (I've got a fight scene with "Rock and Roll").


Another thing I do is giving indications on where do songs start and finish. Just small parenthesys like [1] or [1*], indicating before what song it is. It' kinda neat!!

I can write either way, most of the time though when listening to music I am forced to sing... -glares- Yesh, sing...

Though when typing mind you, I listen to things lik Coheed and Cambria, Jet, The Offspring, AFI, The Rasmus...Pretty much things I can listen to, and sing to at the same time...
