Hey, Forgive the off topic-ness.... I was just wondering if anyone out there likes to cross stitch? If ya do, wanna share some patterns?

(I know, someof you are are thinking... Gaaa! How lame can you get, but I have to admit, my Great-Grandma taught me how to C.S. ages ago... And now Its stuck as a favorite pastime. Please forgive!)

Hey! Nothing lame about cross-stitch. You can find some really amazing patterns. About a year ago I stitched a 2 foot tall picture of a wizard on a cliff with the cosmos swirling around him. Pretty damn cool if I do say so myself. Took me forever though. original.gif

Hi im enigmatic soul and, other than the paranormal and jigsaw puzzles, i am addicted to cross stitching.

If you too are suffering from this addiction please feel free to say hi below.

Also what are you working on at the moment?

I cross stitch.

I made a thread enquiring about other stitchers before i saw this one.

Im addicted to it. Its addictive.

I knit and do jigsaw puzzles as well.

Now how sad is that?

At 31 im also going grey and because of that and all of the above combined, my son has recently started calling me granny laugh.gif

Charming! Bless him.

I just figure im practising for early retirement or something.

I used to do a hell of a lot of cross-stitching, it drove my husband crazy lol.

I agree it is addictive, I haven't done it for about four years now. I used to find it really relaxing and it can be very artistic.

Sounds very cool. I've done plenty of embroidery myself, and have a 4 x 6 foot medieval style silk tapestry that I designed and have been working on for... oh... five years on and off now.

When I was really young, probably between 5 and 8, I used to cross-stitch sometimes because my mom would do it a lot so I wanted to try. She got me a little beginners one with the print already on a fabric or w/e and the little Xs in the squares so I knew exactly what to do and I would sit around and make them sometimes. I don't do that anymore though, I think that it's a hobby that women enjoy a little more than guys, but maybe I'm wrong. Hope that doesn't sound too sexist. Just a conclusion I've come to based on observations. wink2.gif but yeah I think I remember I made a little dragon once original.gif

I've always loved doing needle work. I really dig cross stitch, but found that I rarely like how it turns out looking... from a decorators standpoint, it's too "country" looking for my tastes. What I do really enjoy is embroidery and many years ago I learned creweling. Creweling remains my favorite today and I still love to make crewelworked pillow covers for friends as gifts.

This is a picture of what Creweling looks like, this is not my work however, I have yet to take a picture of one of my finished projects! grin2.gif
