oh no! i think i have an addiction to UM!! i even log on at school! i must log onto UM every day or i will just die! i need to go find a support group or a UM detox clinic.
porn is everywhere, no matter where you look. no amount of support group or clincis in the world could stop it. fact is its one of the biggest industries. im not into porn, and yes it does piss me off when they send me spam but if people want to watch porn on their own time, fine i dont care, just dont show it to me. and when i mean porn, i mean adult porn, no kiddie porn, thats just sick.
but yes i do see how it could get people into serious trouble if they log in at work.
people throw away money everyday in strip joints and casinos. some people are hooked on playing the lottery, and throw away their life savings on tickets. there are hundreds of things people are addicted to that could ultimatly ruin their lives. but thats just how things are. even if you get rid of all those things, people are going to find new addictions.

I do not currently have internet at home, I am always at work when I am on line. company filters do not allow porn, at least that is what I am told. I have never tried to access a porn site while at work, Wink Wink, I also never inhaled in my younger days either, LOL

SOOOO true. Porn is degrading, disturbing, I think it's illegal in some countries, and it's just plain SICK. I mean, for crying out loud, what kind of messed-up pervert wants to look at naked people doing...*shudder* I think porn addiction is real. If you type in the most random thing on Google you get porn. Whoever is putting it on the web is sick. I don't want to be filtering through that trash every time I go on Google. And not just the Internet. There's magazines, books, movies, there's a freaking porn channel for God's sake!

Also, if you're an anime fan, there's hentai, which is anime porn. Also disgusting. It's dirtying the name of anime, and when you go on lots of fansites there's hentai. I was looking for anime mp3's on google, and some of the links to "mp3" sites were to porn sites. There were these pop-ups advertising the sites with pics that made me feel like ripping my eyes out, plunging them into soapy water, and replacing them. The pop-ups took up the entire screen, you couldn't find the colse X, so you had to Ctrl+Alt+Delete to close the nasty things.

And child pornography is a whole different chew toy. It's just WRONG. I can understand perverted adults looking at adult porn, but child? I know there's pedifiles, but seriously...If you saw The Butterfly Effect, there was the guy who did child porn. And isn't it child abuse?

All in all, I think porn is for perverted, sex-crazed sickoes who aren't right in the head and may become rapists or somthing like that. I hope this "addiction source" is someday illegal.

Forgot to mention, about porn destroying lives, isn't it responsibe for a lot of divorces and break-ups?

WHOA! There are so damn many childish reply! Hell people can be addict to ANYTHING! My mom is addict to saving left over foods, some people are addict to buying car (which led to a lot of divcore too!), some are addict to cleaning (like my landlord!!!), some are addict to reading dopey romantic novel, some are addict to drugs, and some are addict to porn! So it is totally pointless to try ban porn espcially when we have some more serious problem such as drugs, cigarette, etc... I think we should just give warning to the people to let them know that it could lead to addict. Also I agree 100% with banning pop up since it is so annoying and could ruin computer and cleaning up website. I think Google should have a small box to click on to get rid of anything such as sex, voilence, profiancy, etc... and click on whatever they should get rid of documentary, pictures, or all. That is the way people could look something up without coming to pics they dont want to see.

Beside that it will be impossible to ban porn 100%. Also it is well known fact that at LEAST 80% men have SOME kind of porn (anything from softcore erotic novel to ladies in bikini magazine to hardcore pornography on internet) and around 40% to 70% (depend on which source you get it off) have some type. Women tend to be overlook because majority of them usually lean toward erotic novel more which could even be found in Romantic novel!). So it isnt like the moment person see one pic they will be addict immidately, it take a while to become addict. But many doesnt even become addict after years of looking at pornography once in a while (not like everyday! but still...). If all of you would have done your research and stop scream and run away from everything revolve around nudity or sexual, you would have seen BIG different between what bible thumper want you to believe and what is realistic. Hell may your teacher and father even watch porn once a week but you think they are a great and a gentleman! So do yourself and world a favor, go to your local community college and take one or two courses in some class such as sex studies, women studies, cultural anthropology, etc... and you will have better idea of what is realistic and what is a myth!

By the way I am NOT going against pornography because it has been around for thousannd of years and it is pretty much part of human natural and also because of the way everyone here basically talk like if someone just watch a 15 min of pornography video they will be addict for life and turn into a sadistic rapist or something. I think people are taking this a bit too far. Yes, porn can become addicting, as any pleasureable stimulant can be. And trying to keep it from minors is important. However, no matter how degrading I find it to participate in, provide, or create pornographic materials (with very few exceptions), it isn't going to go anywhere. Besides, when used in moderation, I do find some usefulness in pornography. For example, I would much rather someone gain sexual relief from porn then running off and having sex with some random person simply for the need to release their sexual frustration.

Also, when did hentai come to be seen as so disgusting? True, I have gone on anime art searches and found some pretty disturbing sexual images, but personally I'd rather have pornographic materials done through art rather than the physical degration of a human being into a sexual object. I find that having porn done through art increases the gap between reality and fantasy, which is important for a person to recognize when using porn for their pleasure.

Now, just to clarify: I do not watch, buy, or own any pornographic materials. I merely understand that it is a useless battle to fight, and that porn does have it's uses (as long as it is used in MODERATION).

Like some of the previous post said anything can become addictive in its own way, porn is no exception. Any addiction can destroy a life. Like the example of prohibition in the 20's a ban on porn would fail to accomplish anything except making it illegal. My wife and I have been known to watch a porn movie together on occasion and have even been in one if the truth is to be told. Taken in the right context I find nothing wrong with porn in moderation. Now if a member of a commited couple has to sneak around to watch porn then I see that as a problem.

And so far I am fine, hell I hardly really watch or look at pornography more than twice or maybe three time a month!
