They fly off in a helicopter and it doesnt give a clip whether its a good or bad movie it just ends.

They just fly off? Bah.

hahaha it's a MUSICAL!??
Shakezulah
has everyone here seen House of the Dead? that was one of the worst movies i have ever seen. i dont know how that can be called a zombie movie.
ChrisC098
Well the mall is attacked by a biker gang so they have to leave.
BurnSide
Sorry, didn't see it HD. Don't really want too.

I remember the biker gang. I was a little upset the biker gang wasn't in the remake to be honest.
Shakezulah
good BS. dont see it EVER!!!

that part of Dawn where the biker gang attacked was so gay. but it was kinda funny tho seeing how they all died.
ChrisC098
I liked it but hey to each his own.

Edit: The bikers
JennRose
Yeah, The Incredibly Strange etc. was billed as the "first monster musical ever made".

YES! the biker gang!! I haven't seen that one since I was like 15.
BurnSide
I guess it wouldn't have seened right putting a biker gang into Dawn remake. I mean, the whole world is pretty much destroyed by these fast crazy zombies, a biker gang crusing around attacking people and looting wouldn't stay alive for very long.
ChrisC098
Yeah especially todays bike gangs. Theyr just a bunch of wimps. tongue.gif
BurnSide
haha yeah, good call on that man. laugh.gif I don't think it would matter. I mean okay, i'm looking forward to the next good zombie rampage myself, but with SLOW zombies moaning at me. I don't wanna have to face of with a city full of these beasts. A biker gang wont last long, no one will!
neo cloud 8900
i have both the new and old dawn of the dead movies. the new is a lot better than the old
BurnSide
Why do you think that? Give us a reason. original.gif
ChrisC098
I have to say I like the old one better but im biased. Lots of good memorys too that movie. Nestalgia laugh.gif

I Love zombie movies...

I always have, although I have no idea why... I was reading years ago about how movie monsters have always been a response to the greatest fears of the audience at that time. I do not recall the entire list of monsters versus what kind of fear inspired them, but I do recall a few examples.

In the 50's and early 60's after all of the nuclear weapons that had been tested and the fears of all out nuclear war, the movie monsters were always a result of radiation...Giant mutated Spiders or ants(not to be confused with giant mutated aunts), Godzilla and the gang...those types of monsters.

In the 80's when Aids made its horrible debut, all of a sudden ax murderers were always killing kids during or after having sex, which happened so often that it became a cliche of horror flicks...

Zombie movies however(According to this article) were a response to the mindless consumerism and over consumption that America started to experience in the late 60's. Television had become very common, as did the advertising to go along with it, and the entire country got swept up in mindlessly watching television and then buying the products advertised on television. The fear was that people no longer were thinking for themselves, they were just doing what the television told them to do(Be it propaganda or marketing)...kind of like slowly plodding around in search of brains(Perhaps the reason the zombies always go for brains is that they have a desire for the thoughts of others as they have none of their own...).

I don't know if that actually is the case, but I thought that the concept was good...

Zombie movies are great, and I doubt there is one out that I haven't seen. My favorite so far is 28 days and Night of the Living Dead.
BurnSide
I didn't know that about horror movies. But it makes sense.
Shaun of the Dead touched on the fact that zombies represented the mindless millions.

Why do you like 28 Days? I didn't find it all that great really. It started off good, but half way through and once they hit the military base it went downhill fast. A good representation of the human nature though.
ChrisC098
Most of the zombie movies represent the imperfection of men as it may be put. Especially the end of Night.

I liked 28 days for a couple of reasons. It wasn't the first, but I think the best at making the zombies quick moving, absolutely rabid creatures, rather than the slowly plodding zombies of earlier flicks. Not that slow moving zombies don't have their own slow building terror, but really the slow moving zombie are like "mummies' in that if you are physically capable of a brisk walk, you don't have to worry about them at all...

"Oh look, a group of zombies is coming at us...oh the horror...let me turn around and walk away from them as if I were in a hurry and I will be OK....If I get far enough ahead of them I should be able to stop off and pick up a few groceries on the way home before I have to board up the windows..."

I do like the original ending of 28 days better than the ending that played in the American theaters. Americans tend like like happy endings, hence the ending that we got...

I think that the movie did get too involved with the military base and the wackos there, but it does speak about how some people tend to take advantage of a situation when things go bad...
BurnSide
Agreed. The 'alternate' ending was far better i would have prefered that. I'm not one for the happy endings myself, which is why i liked the remake of Dawn so much. The ending was, simply, that they landed in a new area and get attacked by the zombies, meaning they're everywhere and the world has been destroyed.
I was clinging onto the hope that the world had been destroyed in 28 Days, but then that gave us the endings where all the infected died off and they were saved by a jet or whatever, lame. laugh.gif

Again, agreed with the slow zombies not being particularly scary anymore, especially compared to the super fast super vicious ones from the more recent films. However the slow and stupid will always have a special place in my heart. Unkillable terror slowly plodding your way has it's effects.
ChrisC098
What happens in the alternat ending?
JennRose
The main guy dies from his injuries in an abandoned hospital...geez, I think that's how that went. I rented the DVD a fews months ago, and the alt ending was an extra feature.

I thought it was a great psychological horror, rather than supernatural. It was terrifying bc it seemed somehow pretty plausible.
BurnSide
Because it was about viruses and diseases, not the undead. When you die, you stay dead, but the prospect of something like 'RAGE' is frighteningly real.
ChrisC098
Yeah and I like how hippies destroy the world. laugh.gif
neo cloud 8900
the new dawn is better than the old because it has more action, more gore, and an ok story line. but the original does go deeper into the human nature aspect of the situation.

i thought the new version of dawn of dead was terrible...

cool.gif

BurnSide
Dude, you think everything is terrible.
I don't think there IS anything you like is there???
MK ULTRA
The new dawn of the dead was cool, and im ashamed to say I prefer it to the original???
I feel kinda guilty about this, cos the original is a classic, creepier, darker, more intelligent, than the new one. But nearly all the zombies are just dudes covered in blue facepaint! And ive seen it so many times now it just seems too long and slow. sad.gif (But its still bloody good!)
I think i've just become part of the MTV generation and need quick hits,OH GOD! crying.gif When will i mature? crying.gif

My top 10 Zombie flicks of all time at the mo at the top of my head!

10-Shaun of the dead
9-City of the living dead
8-Night of the living dead and remake.
7-The living dead at Manchester Morgue
6-The Beyond
5-Evil dead 1,2 and 3
4-Zombie Flesh eaters
3-Dawn of the dead
2-Day of the dead
1-Dawn of the dead remake

BurnSide
Whoa, slow down there.

All the Evil Dead movies don't have one single zombie. There is nothing remotely zombie about those movies. The bodies are demonically posessed by witchcraft, not reanimated corpses.

I would really like to find this movie. Just to say that I've seen it. grin2.gif
BurnSide
Me too. I haven't seen it.

Apparently, it's a musical. I think i missed out a couple of descriptive words in the title. laugh.gif

I LOVE Shaun of the Dead - totally rules, although I didn't realise it got released outside of the UK?

Ams original.gif
BurnSide
Yeah it came out in the States/Canada about 2 months ago, way after the UK release hit the cinema.

Can't wait to buy it on DVD. grin2.gif
ames2787
If you get the same DVD as us then you will be a big fan as it is packed with extras!

I really didn't expect something like that to have been released Stateside though, glad to hear it was though - was it successful or anything?

Did you ever see the TV programme Spaced? If you didn't I seriously urge you to get hold of the DVDs, if you loved Shaun of the Dead you will love Spaced!

Ames original.gif
BurnSide
It was extremely successful. One of the movies of the year! Why didn't you expect it to get out of Europe?
dazdillinjah
The GREATEST Zombie Movie EVER MADE was 'Apocalypse Now' everything since has tried hard to cash in off that one & even tho NOTLD & DOTD were average 'Apocolypse Now' was/is the VERY BEST. Im so surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet & were on page 6 ??? Mind ya alot of people would never guess it was a Zombie flik from the Title .... If ya havent seen it GO GET IT & then put a comment about it here wink2.gif ... there were many Zombie fliks that totally sucked some of which have been named BUT one of the surprises of BAD Zombie fliks was 007's 'Live & Let Die' (Roger Moores FIRST turn as BOND)
ames2787
Well because, firstly it's more of a cult film I would have thought, then of course most British films don't make out of Britain, some make into Europe, but few make it into America especially, that's all original.gif
BurnSide
Well, this one was especially good.
And it was better because it was set in London, kinda like 28 Days too.

Sorry daz, never seen Apoc Now, infact i was unaware it was a zombie movie!
ames2787
It could really be set anywhere in Britain cos the features of London aren't really that important to the film I guess.

I still reccommend spaced!!!
BurnSide
I'll look into it.

I think Shuan would have worked in any major city in England, but it had to be a city and London worked best because, well, you don't really get Pubs like The Winchester outside of London. They're classics. original.gif
ames2787
I live in the second city - and I think that would have been funny because of the accents!

You probably do get pubs called the Winchester outside of London though, they have all kinds of crazy names all over the place, specially those ones that are trying to go for the cockney pub feel.

Spaced you can get on region 2 DVD, which if you have a multi region player you'll be able to get, and I'm not sure about its availability outside of the UK, but it's so brilliant you have to get hold of it somehow!

Ames original.gif
BurnSide
I'm sure it's downloadable.
ames2787
But that my friend, is very naughty!

Plus it would take a while as there is like 20-30 hours of it
BurnSide
I have a fast computer. tongue.gif
I don't see any other way of checking it out. Unless you wanna send it to me as a christmas present!
ames2787
It would still be region 2, in which case u could just buy it... duh... tongue.gif
Arsenik
On the subject of Shaun of the Dead, who here nominates it to be a classic?

B-Side !!!! Man, I HIGHLY recommend you see this !!!! This is the ONE that started ALL of them off ... Its Highly recommended & acclaimed, had an impact on the Movie scene equal ONLY with say Exorcist or perhaps Space Odyssey. IF you like Zombie fliks this one will give ya nightmares. As I say if this one wasn't made we may not have had ANY of the subsequent ones
BurnSide
Definately one of the better zombie movies of the decade. I dunno, maybe it'll become classic given another 10-15 years.
ames2787
Moi!

"Who died and made you f***ing king of the zombies?"
Boo_ Boi
I think 28 days later is not really a zombie movie sure they look like zombies but I think it was a Disease wacko.gif
