Hi every one out there. I am in grade 8 and doing an assignment on the Loch Ness monster and I am having trouble. I was wondering if anyone has any theories or information that would help me. Any links would help me.
Deimos
do a quick google search of Loch Ness Monster, that'll help wink2.gif
BTW, welcome to the Forums!!

Yes, Google or the search engine on this site .

Another handy hint to help out , If you look for the information yourself you'll save time , and you'll be able to focus better on your homework .

Thanx for your suggestions but I've already searched google and every thing but what I was after was not some big harvard professors theory, I'm after just a theory by a normal person. (not saying that all u proffessors out there are weird or anything but you get what I mean)
Canadian Rottweiler
Ok then. There are underwater channels and canals under loch ness.Which proves that nessie can get to other lakes, and can find ways to the ocean.Which also shows that other sea serpents can do the same.SO,nessie could be in okanogan(BC,Canada)and ogopogo(from BC) can be in Loch ness.Which means that there is more than one sea serpent.Who knows how fast they breed.Maybe they don't sleep,so they can travel much faster, many things can be a factor, but most are just theories. Here is a map showing the underwater channels and canals under Loch ness...

There seems to be a lot of common ground when it comes to these large aquatic cryptids from all over the world. From ancient history to modern day. I, personally am at a loss to identify even the class of the creature(s?). But, I lean towards either fish (giant eel) or mammal (eel-like whale).

Here are a few general links concerning Lake Monsters:

Good luck on your assignment.

No there aren't, the type of rock which makes up the walls of the Loch is too hard to have any channels form through it.

That map is also nothing to do with what you said.

One theory is that a very small group of large breeding mammals (not neccesarily monsters at all) have taken the Loch as their home. The only problem with this idea is the Loch doesn't possess and adequate food supply, so you can almost rule out the small group theory entirely.

What a bonnie assignment you've got yerself there, och aye.
I don't really know much information on the monster itself, but I can easily tell you that even Scottish people associate "up north" and the mention of the word "Loch" with the Loch Ness Monster, or Nessie as she is known ("loch" simply means "lake" and there are many in Scotland, with Loch Lomond, Loch Ness, Loch Tay and Loch Katrine, to name but a few). Webcams and such have been set up there for the obsessed and many photos have been taken on the surface and under the surface of the water of suspected anomalies, shadows, but nothing too conclusiveto my knowledge, has shown up.

Hope that helps, straight from the top of ma head (but all true!) thumbsup.gif
Good luck with the assignment! grin2.gif

Yes, and being fresh water, I would think that any underwater channels would make the Loch salt water, no?

Don't think ist salt water man, not sure though

Stimpy27. A good place to start would be the library. I know it may sound old fashioned but a book can be the best place to start. It also won't bambard you with pop up ads and useless links wink2.gif. Dan'o's pretty much linked you out anyway.

LOL! When I was in the fifth grade I made up a spy game and my friends and I had a great time with it until the teacher kept me in one recess for a very sincere and worried, "there are no Russian submarines in the sewer lagoon" lecture. <G> I still can't believe she actually thought that *I* thought there were! wacko.gif

Good luck on your project Stimpy! Let us know how you do?
