Territorial control over Canada is part of Washington's geopolitical and military agenda as formulated in April 2002 by Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld. "Binational integration" of military command structures is also contemplated alongside a major revamping in the areas of immigration, law enforcement and intelligence.
At this critical juncture in our history and in anticipation of the visit of George W. Bush to Canada on November 30th, an understanding of these issues is central to the articulation of a coherent anti-war and civil rights movement.
The purpose of this detailed report is to encourage discussion and debate in Canada and Quebec, as well as in the US. Kindly circulate this article widely. The Summary can be forwarded by email with a hyperlink to the complete text.

Well, one of my best pals is a Canadian (and I have relatives who live in Toronto), and I always kid with him about how the US should conquer the english counties and annex them

... didn't think though that they are seriously thinking about doing so

Hogwash. Never happen. The Canadians will never allow it. Civil war, terrorism, guirilla warfare, skirmishes, etc will follow in the following years.
Gah, can you imagine what the French Canadians will do? They'll go absolutely ape****.
No one likes being conquered. Even if the government allows them to do so, the people really don't like it.
If it is true, whats next for these Rome wannabes? England? Germany? Australia? The Australian prime minister may be Bush's little whipping boy, but I can tell you one thing; the Aussie people aint goin' down without a fight
Bloody American government already had military and even nuclear installations on our land...we're not happy about that.

After some thought...
The likelihood of something of this magnitude happening is almost a billion to one.
They'll need to call a referendum (sp?) first to get the people to vote. And in any circumstance (no matter the country) it'll either be 100% against or at least 90%.
Now, hypothetically speaking, if the US decided for some strange reason to invade Canada it will be total global chaos. People will begin taking sides. I can see the UK getting involved and I have a feeling Blair would be pressured by the people into helping the Canadians. Australia will back the UK and the EU and UN will want to have a piece of America also. Russia will probably remain fence-sitters and China will watch with glee. We're talking WW3.
Wont happen. Ever. Will never get that far. Ever.
Also, think about it. What reason would the US have to invade Canada? If it was an invasion what would their reason be? Chemical weapons? Genecide? Too many mooses? Not enough mooses? Too many French?
Heh, anyone here see "Canadian Bacon"?

I really don't see that happening in the near (or any) future. I would think that the american government has enough on its plate right now without annexing very large and powerful nations like Canada. On the other hand, perhaps Canada should annex the US and take control of our government. They could slap us around a bit and tell us to mind our own business or something; and to leave little counties half way around the world alone and stop bullying them. Just a thought.

Well now I've heard it all. Who comes up with this stuff?

What gain would there possibly be in invading a peaceful neighbor who's also one of our strongest allies? Not to mention we cross each others' borders with impunity share cultures and so on..
I'd think if we were ever going to invade a neighbor it would be Mexico. They all end up here eventually anyway..Might as well make it legal..

The thing is, joining the Canadian army with the US army isnt so far fetched. It'll start small, like NORAD... then the starwars program, and soon you'll have a Joint military controled by the country with the most influence, which in this case is the US. That scares me, cuz Im joining the Canadian reserves... I have no wish to be controled by the US.

This is the funniest thing I have ever read. It could never happen unless the Canadian people democratically voted to join the US as equal partners. This will never happen at least not in our lifetime.
Canada and the US mostly enjoy a good relationship that few other countries have. We have a long history of peace between us with an open door policy between the two countries. No American president would be foolish enough to jeopardize that relationship.

Anyone here heared of Manifest Destiny? It was made in the 1800's but some Americans still belive it now.
What it is, is America's Destiny is to controle All of North America. It was a US gov Policy awhile ago and im sure its still in there some were.
And Bush is stupid enough to act on it.

i don't believe it will happen, at least not in the next 10 years.
if it were to happen it would, as others have said, start other countries taking sides, the ol' "if they take canada, then they're coming for us next"
there would be resitance groups, everywhere, all funded out of quebec, by the french government.
it would be ugly.
although, i'll bet any canuck in the military would love to be part of the u.s. force, as our military is in shambles. maybe stewie can give us his take.
jon stewart was once asked, "what do you think of canada?"
he said, "i don't" then added, "unless we run out of water, and then we'll be coming up there to take what we want"
he was of course joking, but that is a scenario i do believe may happen, as the u.s gets overcrowded and runs out of natural resources, they will be looking north, and if they allready have a foothold, with some military coop group, it'll make things that much easier.

THe problem is that once you join, you're marked as having done training. The US has a more aggressive standing in the world, just look at Iraq. Even if you quit the army, you'll still be able to be reactivated. Canadas reserves right now are voluntairly sent to action, but in the US, its obligatory, just like full time. If the forces united, I'd end up having to quit to avoid serving in Iraq probably... and if anything big happens, I risk a greater chance of being reactivated even after I quit.

Very true Boff. Our services deactivate units based on financial reasons with little care for tradition. I seriously doubt the US would annex Canada, though our military units may begin to work closer together, sharing equipment and intel. In truth the US had better integration with S. Korea, Japan,an Germany than Canada.
