i hope this topic is sufficient for the conspiacy forum-if it is, there is alot of potential in it to be a big thread as the topic is so vast- the unusual facts and symbols in "The wizard of Oz" is enough to be a seperate thread and an interesting one but my favorite is,and i believe i have mentioned it here but,in the kids movie "Ants" with woody allen the storyline concerns a sinister plan by the "soldier" ants who,in order to push an agenda, recruit an "outside" threat consisting of locust which attack the "colony" creating a situation in which the soldiers are forced o supercede the queens authority in order to "protect the colony" and using the famous"helegian" process of creating a crisis in order to offer a "solution" the soldiers are able to get what they want until they are discovered by woody allens character- im interested in hearing about what others have picked up on- "The Manchurian Candidate" has alot to offer im sure but i havent seen it yet - it seems to me like a majority of movies released today include vast amounts of symbolism with some overflowing with layers of possible translations like "The wizard of Oz"-
anyone who has seen "The Manchurian Candidate" or "The Chronicles of Riddick" or an animae called "Cowboy Beebop" please fill me in cuz i hear they are full of symbolism and i have not seen them
Blood Angel
Current conspiracy related movies YOU SHOULD watch. All of these are heavily steeped in illuminati symbolism, and government agendas.

Sum of all fears
Revelation
Conspiracy Theory
MK ULTRA
Cowboy Beebop was kinda boring I thought,Ghost in the shell had alot more shady Government ideas in it,,,,, Come to think of it nearly all Manga cartoons have a shady Government organisation with a warning of a post apocalyptic future.

A Jewish mate of mine is convinced Independence Day is about the overthrow of America by the Jews.I just thought he was being a bit rascist.
The white house being blown up,Jeff Goldbloom and proud Jewish father solving how to wipe out the alien threat,Will Smith fighting for the white man,etc...God that film was awful. huh.gif

this analysis of "The Wizard of Oz" is one of the best i have found it is from one of my favorite forums hosted by a Goro Adachi who writes an awesome blog and wrote the book "The Time Rivers" which is very interesting-his blog is an analysis of astronomical alignments above giza and certain places in the u.s. and an esoteric evaluation of certain public events or "rituals"(the most recent being the olympic opening cerimony) as well as a comparisson to nostradamus and the bible-here is the wizard info and a link to the "Etemenanki" website and forum-

I told Goro I would do this and I’m keeping my word. Seeing the ‘wheat spiral’ at theOlympic closing ceremony and seeing Genesis tumble to earth not long afterwards it’sjust too damn in symbolism to let go by. First let me say this is strictly my interpretationand observations of a very intriguing film. It goes beyond the normal “fantasy” aspect. Asyou read along you may or may not agree as to why I say this.

The film has many aspects that derive from L.Frank Baum’s interest in Theosophy
(see http://www.blessedquietness.com/journal/ho...e/wizardoz.htm) that Madame Helena Blavatsky initiated that inspired Germany’s Thule Society and Alistair Crowley inEngland. Crowley was the founder of the O.T.O. also known as the Ordo Templi Orientis. I find this interesting when speculating that the dog in the film called ‘Toto’ has a name that can also be viewed as an acronym - T.O.T.O. or The Ordo Templi Orientis.

Another interesting fact is that the ‘L’ initial in Frank Baum’s name can be looked at as a title - EL - the hebrew word for ‘God’. This would be in keeping with the Theosophy concept of recognizing the “god within yourself”. Curiously enough, another famous writer who supposedly (I cannot find any hard substantiation) briefly flirted with the Theosophical/O.T.O. belief (see http://www.holysmoke.org/sdhok/history.htm)
was L. Ron Hubbard and he also had the first initial ‘L’. Keep in mind that these are just speculative observances and there is no way to claim any proof to them as fact!!

Now going further into the movie area we can notice some interesting points in keeping on the subject of names. The uncredited director who finished up the film had the unusual name of King Vidor which can mean the ‘King of the Light of Life’. Coming from the French/Latin base of Vie meaning life and d’or meaning of gold. Gold is precious because of its natural resemblance to the golden sun’s light. The producer was named Mervyn LeRoy. Again from a french/Latin base LeRoy translates the King and Mervyn can be split into Mer which means sea and vyn which is another spelling of ‘vine’ - a branch of life. Therefore, we have the name ‘King of the Life of the Sea’. Sounds a little Merovingian doesn’t it? Two men prominently involved in the production with ‘King’ in their names? Strange odds. For what it’s worth the other directors had prominent, royal-sounding names as well.
(see http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0032138/fullcredits).

Getting more into the film it should be noted that the premiere for the film was August 12th,1939 - only 20 days before the start of WWII !!!
(see http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Hills/6396/timeline.htm)
With all the above known let’s now have a look at the symbolisms in the film.

The film opens with a greyish, cloudy sky and the background singers making ‘blowing wind’sounds. The “Winds of War”??? Then at the end of the opening credits a dedication appears for all those who are “young in heart”. This goes a lot deeper than what the reader understands on the surface. The term essentially signifys regressing mentally to childhood in order to leave the disturbing, stressful experiences of adulthood temporarily. This also means temporarily understanding from a child’s point-of-view which lessens the probability of seeing the deeper meaning. See the rock and accept that it’s there, but don’t look under it.

The movie takes place in what appears to be an economic recession (most think it’s the Great Depression-era, but the symbolism analysis negates this.). The first scene (as are the first few minutes of the film) is in black & white (symbolic of a simple world - black and white - good and bad - rich and poor, etc.) and has Dorothy (research that name for some fun!) running back home to save her dog Toto from nasty Miss Gulch. She arrives at the farm and we see she has good, friendly relations with the 3 farmhands as in when she falls into the pigs’ pen they rush over to help her.

She then goes about singing ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ which she describes where bluebirds fly. A rainbow is made of water. Also, the song ‘The White Cliffs of Dover’ mentions bluebirds flying as well
(see http://www.elyrics4u.com/t/the_white_cliff...kate_smith.htm). Was Dorothy singing about England which is located over the water?

Miss Gulch ominously makes her appearance and demands custody of the dog, Toto, in order to take him to the sheriff to be destroyed as he’s a danger to the community. Miss Gulch obviously represents government as she’s a well-known name in the town it seems. The underlying symbolism here is the history of The O.T.O. facing persecution in various countries in the early 20th century because of its supposed heretical practices.
Nazi Germany was notorious for hunting down organizations such as the Freemasons et al. to counter any influence they may have had with the public outside of the governing body at the time.

*As a side note, there is a rocking chair visible in the bedroom in the background. In the Mel Gibson film ‘The Patriot’ he’s obsessed with building the perfect rocking chair. Strangely enough at the beginning of that film he has just completed a chair and is weighing it saying “9 pounds - 11 ounces. That’s perfect!” The film name - the numbers. Something to think about. Also, the British troops advancing thru the cornfields. I’ll write
about cornfields another time (right Goro? Smile ).

Miss Gulch further reinforces herself as a symbol of authority by daring them to “go against the law”. Auntie Em mentions to Miss Gulch that she’s wanted to express her opinion of Gulch for 23 years, but can’t. The magic 23 number makes an appearance. This shows the futility the average person feels when confronting “the system”. I noticed Judy Garland’s pronounciation of “Auntie Em” appeared to sound like ‘N.E.M.’ There is
a Crowley connection to this (see 11th paragraph at
http://www.mystic-mysteries-magic.com/trad...orencefarr.htm). You just can’t make this stuff up!

Toto is taken, but secretly escapes. An allusion to the O.T.O. surviving the hardships? Dorothy and Toto run away from the farm. We see them crossing a “pyramid-style” wooden bridge. Dorothy sees a carnival wagon and approaches. Here she meets Professor Marvel who claims to have esoteric powers as it is written on his wagon that he is “acclaimed by the Crowned Heads of Europe” or Royal Families if you will. Dorothy unknowingly calls him on his reputation and he invites her into his wagon to see what the ‘crystal ball’ says. He states it is the same ball “that was used by the priests of Isis and Osiris” and puts on an arabic turban. The Egyptology/Masonic connection is too obvious what with the ball, its story, the turban, the skulls on the wall and the inverted pentagram that appears to Dorothy’s left side. He checks her belongings when she’s not looking. On the obvious, he appears a charlatan. His wagon also mentions he is a juggler, performs ‘slight of hand’ (he’d make a good banker wouldn’t he?!? Remember this!) and is a balloon enthusiast. What, you may ask, does it have to do with his magician persona? That is answered at the end of the film. In any event, he fakes “seeing” an incident at her home which sends her running back to the farm in a windstorm that suddenly starts up.

The Professor remarks to his horse, Sylvester, about the approaching storm. Funnily enough he loses his “learned” accent here and goes so far to reveal his social standing by remarking about the storm “using the local peasant dialect”. ‘Peasant’. What an interesting choice of word to use? By the way, is anyone aware of the fact that Sylvester was the name of two popes? In this case Sylvester labors for Professor Marvel. Hmm????

When Dorothy and Toto arrive home the family and farmhands have taken shelter in the cellar. There is a tornado approaching on the horizon. The tornado is a metaphor for war as it ominous, violent, sudden and mercilessly fast-moving destruction. All who are caught up in its path are helpless. This is revealing. First, we have people in the recession living peacefully, then the tornado (war) approaches, everyone hides in the cellar (avoiding the issue - isolationism) and Dorothy deals face-on with the problem. As we will see - Dorothy is a symbolic metaphor for the U.S.A.!

She is struck on the head by a flung open window and knocked unconscious. When she awakes the house is up in the tornado and she sees various figures. There’s a woman in a rocking chair knitting and then two men go by rowing a boat. These would seem symbols of industry and maritime power as in Merchant Marines. Miss Gulch appears on a bicycle and then transforms into a witch on a broom. One almost gets the impression she is trying to beat Dorothy to some place. This will make sense later on.

The house lands with a thud (coming down like the recent Gemini crash film as one astute Etemenanki reader noticed) and then the real meanings of the film begin. Dorothy cautiously makes her way to the front door and opens it to find a brilliant technicolor world she walks out into. Notice here that Dorothy has red hair and wears a blue and white dress. Red, white and blue. She’s U.S.A.! She also goes on to remark to Toto that
they must be over the rainbow. Brought over the rainbow (water - ocean) by the tornado
(war).

Glinda, the Good Witch of the North appears in a sphere (remember to keep in mind Professor Marvel’s enthusiasm for balloons) and congratulates Dorothy on killing the Wicked Witch of the East. Then she announces all is safe and that the Munchkins can come out of hiding. They honor Dorothy with a parade, town honors, etc. The Wicked Witch appears and threatens all. She tries to retrieve the Ruby (rubies = money) Slippers only to lose them to Dorothy. More threats and then she leaves. Dorothy is told to “follow the yellow brick road” to Emerald City to seek help from the great and powerful Wizard of Oz.

Now let’s look at this again reading the symbolism. First, the witches are all representative of power symbols representing countries. Glinda, a Good Witch with a British accent is England. Dorothy with her colors is the U.S.A. and is the Good Witch of the South (after all only witches can wear and use the ruby slippers). The Wicked Witch of the East represents World War I Germany that was soundly defeated when the U.S. entered the conflict (symbolised by Dorothy neutralising the Wicked Witch of the East)and the Wicked Witch of the West represents the resurgence and threatening persona of Germany again - the Third Reich.

The Ruby Slippers represent wealth and power. The Eastern Witch losing them to Dorothy symbolises Germany losing its wealth/economy after World War I and vice-versa for the U.S. in terms of its newfound industrial capacity and world power role. The Wicked Witch of the West wanting them seems to be Germany’s claim (the 3rd Reich) to what it was owed and cheated out of by the Treaty of Versailles. This scene was a battle over financial power.

When we look at the Munchkins they are obviously ‘little people’ which is the term coined for average citizens. These average citizens have a distinct European look to them and some speak with British accents to differentiate the geographic location. In other words, to subconsciously affirm that Dorothy isn’t in Kansas anymore - she’s across the pond in Europe. When they celebrate Dorothy’s “triumph” it is, in effect, Europe celebrating the end of the First World War. The Munchkin army that parades looks more like a non-violent army with the gold and emerald (Emerald City - the capitol) colors of Oz. This makes them seem as an occupying army in the land of the former ruler - the Wicked Witch of the East. The Brits and Yanks in post-WWI Germany.

During the celebrations we see babies waking up out of cracking eggshells. Death is over and now life begins anew. Another affirmation to the ‘finished war’ theory. Then we see three Munchkin males dance and sing. A slightly disturbing visual is noticed here. Two of them wear similiar criss-cross patterned shirts while the third wears a blue shirt with what appears to be a hand holding a knife upright!!! As if this wasn’t subtly threatening enough the Munchkins then sing such double entendre lines to Dorothy as “From now on you’ll be history” and “you’ll be a bust, be a bust, be a bust in the Hall of Fame”. “You’ll be history” as in ‘you’re a goner’ or “you’ll be a bust” as in ‘a failure’? Was a message being sent to the U.S. way back then and by who?

So, after the Wicked Witch of the West comes and goes Dorothy is referred to the Wizard for answers. She is told to “follow the yellow brick road” from the start point of the Golden Ratio Spiral that is in the middle of the village. The other part of the spiral is a blood-red color. How encouraging! Money and blood are eternally inter-twined. This is the exact same colored spiral that Goro noticed was used at the Athens Olympics’ closing ceremony. Here it is the centerpoint of the Land of Oz. Oddly enough this would somehow translate to a European village being the beginning or centerpoint of something (Rennes-le-Chateau anyone??). The yellow bricks are obviously bricks of gold so the “follow the yellow brick road” translates to “follow the money”.

At this point so far we see a metaphoric tale about the U.S. in economic recession (see http://landru.i-link-2.net/monques/montimeline.html), getting caught up in a war (tornado), going across the ocean (over the rainbow), halting the German Kaiser (Wicked Witch of the East), liberating the European people (Munchkins), receiving financial gain (Ruby Slippers), seeing and being threatened by a new German empire (Wicked Witch of the West) and being told where to go to get help (follow the money). Interesting!

Now it gets even better!!

Dorothy follows the yellow brick road to a 5-Way intersection. Sort of pentagram-shaped. This area is surrounded by cornfields (again with the cornfields - right, Goro? Wink ). The largest farm fields in Europe were actually the vast fields of the Soviet Union! The Scarecrow it seems could represent Russia. Note how the crows are hanging around the fields. The Scarecrow is unable to defend his territory much the same as the Russians
were unable to at the start of the war. Dorothy becomes friends with the Scarecrow who ‘desires a brain’. Would this be the same as the U.S. and Russia negotiating ‘behind-the-scenes’ deals as Russia tried to advance technologically? They both have to see the Wizard and this will become apparent why shortly.

Off they go down the yellow brick road where the Scarecrow uses his brain (without knowing it) to trick the trees into giving up their apples. Apples are symbolic of knowledge. Both countries did become more knowledgeable about technology, economics, etc. in the years between both world wars.

Keeping this in mind, they conveniently then happen upon the Tin Man rusted solid. Looked at another way he is a ‘steel worker’ and, thus, representative of industrialization, as he needs oil to function which is shown by Dorothy oiling him free from his rusted state. He says he wants a heart. Interesting as industry is quite heartless. Note that Dorothy maintains possession of the oil can. The U.S. will control the oil.

As the Tin Man carries an axe he is therefore armed and it can be viewed that he represents offensive technology.

Through all this the Witch is hiding and keeping tabs on the group much the same way Germany was watching the powers around her. From the roof of a house by the road she tosses a fireball at the Scarecrow closely missing him. Much the same as Germany raced into Poland. Even though Germany and Russia previously agreed on the action and split the country between them this placed the German threat closely on Russia’s doorstep. The Russians sensed trouble as the Scarecrow remarked “It’ll get darker before it gets lighter”. A black bird can be seen flying around too as a dark omen.

On they go until they meet with the Lion who is (way too obviously) the United Kingdom! Claiming courage and royalty he puts up a tough front scaring everyone. England did try to maintain its power image after WWI. He is very quickly debunked and is actually afraid to confront. Sounds a lot like Neville Chamberlain.

They emerge from the forest to see the Emerald City of OZ in the distance. All seems on track except that the Witch is watching (note the eagle statue behind her) once more and covers the road with a field of poppies. This is very interesting as poppy flowers are the flowers of rememberance for allied soldiers who died in WWI Europe. As they race across the fields two of them get suddenly fatigued and drop to fall asleep. The two are Dorothy and the Lion. Well, well!! The Lion is The U.K. and Dorothy is the U.S., but the red, white and blue that Dorothy wears can also stand in here for another country that uses those colors - FRANCE!!!!! Picture this...the U.K. and France becoming incapacitated ina field growing poppies?!?! Can anyone say “DUNKIRK”!!! Flanders Field is in Belgium and very close to Dunkirk Beach!!! Hmmm.....??????
(see http://www.dailypast.com/graphics/photos/dunkirk-map.jpg
http://www.wsu.edu:8080/~wldciv/world_civ_..._2/mccrae.html)

The two remaining awake (Scarecrow and Tin Man/ Russia and her military) suddenly realize they’re all alone and yell for help. Glinda, the Good Witch of the North appears in the sky and causes snow to fall to wake up (as in nations waking up to the cold reality of the situation) Dorothy and the Lion (and Toto). Glinda, being British and royal in appearance assumes the historic role of the British government ordering the evacuation of British and French forces at Dunkirk. To top it off the Tin Man suddenly is rusted again and offers more symbolism to us.

On one level, he represents military technology that has suddenly become useless as it was after Dunkirk. Britain and France took a severe beating and Russia suddenly felt extremely vunerable. On the flip side, notice when the camera first shows the recently rusted-again Tin Man. He looks like a saluting military statue erected in a field of poppies. More reinforcement of Flander’s Field and, thusly, Dunkirk!!

He is freed up again by Dorothy oiling him and so she reverts back to her U.S.A. persona (a nation awoken, remember?) oiling up the ‘war machine’. The Witch then departs to write a sky warning. On her broom one would think she relies heavily on airpower! Thecurious thing is that just before she leaves one of her loyal flying monkeys (is ‘monkey’ a double-entendre substitute term like ‘little people’ is for average citizens?) hands her something that looks like a golden bag. It’s anybody’s guess what is going on here, but symbolically he is handing the gold to her. What gold? Whose gold? From where? A territory just pillaged perhaps? Like Poland? Draw your own conclusions.

If you’re not looking at this film in a whole new light then now is the time to keep reading on.....

On the move again the four finally arrive where the yellow brick road stops - at the main doors of the Emerald City of OZ. Strangely, if one looks right down on the edge of the road before the doors a large circle and wavey line are seen. They appear to be a type of ‘Sun and Moon’ symbolism.

Emeralds are valuable gems. Therefore the Emerald City is worth LOTS of money and it is green in color as well. The inhabitants worship the ‘Great and Powerful OZ’. OZ isshort for Osiris - the green-faced god. So, it can be safely said it is a city that is wealthy and worships Osiris without knowing it (because they seem to have no idea what OZ really means)!

Dorothy and Co. try to gain access to the city to see the Wizard for help (nations looking for financial backing?) only to be denied. When they reveal that Dorothy has the Ruby Slippers they finally gain entrance. This can be construed as offering financial collateral in exchange for the bigger loans being sought or ‘money will only see money’.

They are then ‘readied’ for their big meeting. First they are driven in a wagon being pulled by ‘the horse of a different color’.

(see http://www.berksarch.co.uk/Uffingtonwhitehorse.html
http://itotd.com/index.alt?ArticleID=259
http://www.wordwizard.com/clubhouse/foundd...1.asp?Num=6284)

This refers to a geographic wonder in England that is close to another symbolic site -Dragon Hill. This is interesting as the financial heart of England (and much of the world) is the City of London district within Metropolitan London itself that is symbolized by a red dragon!!! Coincidental? You decide, but there’s more. Keep in mind the wagon (OZ taxi) driver speaks with a heavy Cockney accent.

The wagon drops the foursome off at their “beauty’ salons. Note here how all the OZ workers sing with British accents. On the wall above behind the Scarecrow who symbolizes Russia are hammers and sickles!! He gets fully stocked with hay - Russia gets what it needs as do the others. The Tin Man gets buffed and shined or in other words technology is brought up to par. there are extra axes (weapons) leaning against the table. The Lion (sitting under pyramid-shaped lamps) and Dorothy (there is a strange Egyptian-looking statue on the counter behind her) get all beautified. Picture the patriotic propaganda drives the U.S. and U.K. both used to wind up their respective populations. Colorful flags and all the bells and whistles can do a lot. It is bothersome that Dorothy asks if the salon ladies can ‘dye her eyes to match her gown’ to which they reply they can.

The salon people sing about what sounds a lot like banker’s hours:

We get up at twelve and start to work at one.
Take an hour for lunch and then at two we’re done.
Jolly good fun!

It really does seem like a financial center. Anyhow, the Witch then goes about skywriting a warning ‘Surrender Dorothy’ which can be seen as when Germany warned off the Americans about getting involved in European matters. All of the citizens of OZ (and the group of four) see it and are terrified. Remember how moments before all the OZ people were singing in British accents? It is very interesting to now hear them all speaking with American accents!!! What happened??

The Wizard’s palace guard calms everyone and sends them home. He then goes about seeing for an appointment for the foursome. While waiting the Lion sings about what he would do if he were ‘King of the Forest’. Near the end of the song he humorously says “Nuk” which seems comedic except it is very telling as it is actually an ancient Egyptian phrase for ‘I Am’
(see #45 at http://www.drjoshuadavidstone.com/72mantras.htm)
which is uttered by God in Exodus 3:14
(see http://www.truthoffends.com/janarticle3.htm)
It would seem nothing is accidental - not even the small details.

Predictably, the four are at first rejected. Dorothy crys and this may signify the U.S. desperate and stressed to get it’s economy moving again. They are eventually let in to see the Wizard. Although OZ has a ‘Man-in-the-Moon’ appearance he also is of a greenish/pale color. He is definitely OSIRIS!! He says he will give each of them what they want ONLY if they return with the Witch’s broomstick. Again, symbolically, the head of the financial center will give aid (loans?) in return for the defeat of Germany and the transferring of her technology. It seems OZ knows they won’t survive, but pitting them against the Witch will allow OZ to stand on the sidelines and watch who will win and, possibly, try to take advantage/profit from the outcome.

The four head off to confront the Witch. Curiously, they now have weapons! They are armed with a gun, hammer and net. The nations have been financed and are armed. In a telling moment the Lion gets scared and starts repeating (like a mantra) “I do believe in spooks. I do believe in spooks.” ‘Spooks’ is another term for espionage spys. Did England not put massive effort into the underground network of spys in France and the like?

True to historic form the witch launches a pre-emptive attack from the air in the form of her flying monkeys. Watch as the monkeys fly past her castle. The look suspiciously like waves of airplanes - sort of like the huge groups that crossed the English Channel towards London. The fact the Witch keeps swinging her right arm in a familiar style doesn’t take away from this observation.

The monkeys ambush the foursome in a forest between OZ and the Witch’s castle. They tear the Scarecrow apart by throwing his straw insides everywhere. Russia is down, but regroups for a counter-attack as the Scarecrow is able to ‘re-straw’ himself and keep going (with the help of his friends just as Russia did with the Allies later applying pressure on the Western front). The Tin Man is disarmed (initial Allied forces were being devestated on both sides) and the Lion tries to run and hide (England fearing Germany’s opening aerial salvo). Eventually they regroup as Russia and England did. Dorothy was kidnapped by the monkeys and brought straight to the Witch’s castle for “negotiations”. The U.S. negotiating with Germany? Makes one wonder what may have been going on behind the scenes politically given the revelations that have been leaking out over the last five years (i.e. U.S. businesses conducting affairs with the 3rd Reich)?

The Witch requests Dorothy’s Ruby Slippers or Germany negotiates for U.S. money.
(see http://lederman.911review.org/913chase.html)
The Witch would be all powerful with the Ruby Slippers over the Wizard the same as Germany would be financially independant of the powerful mystery bankers a.k.a. OZ. The Witch flips an hourglass to time the threat to Dorothy. Nothing too deep here. A timetable is a timetable.

Toto escapes once more to lead the comrades to Dorothy. Is it possible the O.T.O. helped in more ways than one back then? Who knows? I'd like to thank them anyway if they did.

The Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion arrive by the Witch’s castle to rescue Dorothy or the U.K. and Russia are ready to strike with the U.S. Both the Quebec City conferences of August 1943 and September 1944 and the Yalta Conference of February 1945
(see http://history.acusd.edu/gen/20th/coldwar1.html
http://www.fijet.net/Vue_Tourist/articles%20Crimea_3.htm)
were held at castle/palace structures or in cities that contained such. This may not be too important symbolically as the Old World was covered in such structures. Still, something to keep in mind. I am unsure as to the Tehran conference of December 1943.

The three watch the Witch’s ‘Twinkie Guard’ (how cute) do parade drill in a very east European military style. The Guard are dressed in the Prussian colors of green, grey, black and red. The 3rd Reich intensely associated themselves with Prussian military legends. They are attacked and overcome their aggressors. The tide of the war is turning in the favor of Russia and England. They then don the attackers’ uniforms and infiltrate
the Guard and enter the castle. What was that the Lion said earlier? “I do believe in spooks!” We know Spooks/Spies infiltrate quite easily, don’t they, to bring down from within? The allied spy network is in place and on the move!!

The hourglass runs out just as the three break in to rescue Dorothy. The four are now united (or the Big 3 with their industrial might). The Witch never did get to make good on her threat to Dorothy just as Germany never got to attack the U.S. the way it did its continental neighbors. The Witch brings her forces (monkeys and Guards) to bear on the four. At the top of the stairway to the left of the Witch is a large, black eagle that really
looks 3rd Reich-style. Hmm??? They are cornered by the Witch and her forces. The numeric odds are overwhelming except that the Scarecrow (Russia) uses the Tin Man’s axe (military industrial might) to cut the support rope and drop the chandelier onto the Guards (the German armies of both fronts are halted) allowing their escape. The Witch says to her forces “Half you go this way - half you go that way!” She divides her forces as Germany divided hers to fight on two fronts. The four race to the top of the castle for the final moments (last closing days of the war) where the Witch tries to light the Scarecrow on fire. This is Germany’s last final offensive/defensive thrust seen in counter-defensive moves against Russia in August 1943
(see http://www.onwar.com/maps/wwii/eastfront2/1kharkov43.htm)
and against the U.S. roughly a year and a half later in December 1944.
(see http://www.onwar.com/maps/wwii/westfront/1bulge4445.htm)

The Battle of the Bulge is shown by Dorothy’s counter-move of throwing water onto the Witch to put out the lit broomstick. The U.S. has shut down Germany’s last try and has, in effect, ‘thrown cold water’ onto the plans. The Witch melts away and this can be seen as the U.S. having literally “liquidated” the enemy. Interestingly enough, the Witch disappears in a pile of steam and the 3rd Reich went down in a pile of ruinous smoke.

The Guards and monkeys rejoice at being free of the Witch’s tyranny as the German people were happy to be free of the 3rd Reich’s iron rule. They hail Dorothy which pretty much explains the U.S. dominance of Germany and most of Europe at the war’s end. Dorothy asks for the Witch’s broomstick to which the Head Guard says “Please! And take it with you.” The German people were more than happy to get rid of anything belonging to the previous regime be it technology or whatever. Remember all three (Dorothy, Scarecrow and Lion) possess ownership of broomstick. After the war the German scientists and technology were divided among the victorious powers. See Operation Paperclip amongst other reports.

They return to OZ and surprise the Wizard by offering the Witch’s broomstick. The enemy has been vanquished and by the Wizard’s reaction this wasn’t anticipated. Now he has to make good on his promises which he didn’t plan to do. From a symbolic standpoint this begs the question - were the Allies originally supposed to lose?

It is then revealed that OZ is nothing more than a man behind a curtain operating a machine. He actually turns out to be a highly educated man running a very efficient system. You see, this man besides being the unseen Wizard/god OZ(iris), this man was also the Wizard’s palace guard, the city wagon driver (the pseudo-taxi with the ‘Horse of a Different Color), the city’s main gate/door guard and Professor Marvel way back in the States in Kansas. This guy runs an efficient system and is everywhere!!!! The ‘Surveillance Society’ was being revealed back in the ‘30’s!! This also comments how all things are manipulated simply by men.

The ‘Wizard’ reveals to each of them that what they wanted they had all along (as you’ll notice when watching the characters thru-out the film). As an aside, this is a very important point. Each thought they lacked something and wanted an outside influence to give it to them. The comment here is that there are no magic pills or prayers or whatever.

If one looks within themselves they will find what they need. A person’s biggest weakness is refusing to look into the mirror. However....if this were absolutely true then why was the ‘Wizard’ shocked to see them return? Did he not have confidence in them and their abilities? Apparently not! He was betting on the Witch - a fellow superior. This would translate to the “higher-ups” not thinking much of those beneath them or their
capabilities. What’s the saying....’Everyone’s replaceable’?

The ‘Wizard’ says he is returning home and Dorothy can go with him. He leaves the Scarecrow, Lion and Tin Man to run the show or England and Russia control Europe with their new-found industrial might. France could be included, but was relatively weak after the war and had to get back on its feet first.

Dorothy and the ‘Wizard’ are to leave by hot-air balloon (remember he was a balloon enthusiast?). A balloon runs on ‘air power’ and the Wizard was a sort of royalty in his own right. Could he be a ‘Prince of the power of the air’? An interesting term. Research it. The balloon alludes to distant travel to return to the home base. The U.S. and the Banker are leaving Europe to return stateside. The question is - is the ‘Wizard’s’ move symbolic of wealth transfer to Wall Street from London? And isn’t it funny that the banking system and its fiat currency are said to be supported by nothing more than “hot air”???

The ‘Wizard’ leaves prematurely and Dorothy is left behind. The U.S. staying to oversee post-war Europe for the additional few years afterwards. Glinda returns to show Dorothy she always had the inner-power to return home or do whatever by clicking her heels together and reciting the by-now infamous “There’s no place like home...”. If the Ruby Slippers represent financial power than this would show the money that had to be spent returning the bulk of the fighting forces. As well, note that thru-out the film Glinda had faith in Dorothy and her abilities while it turns out the ‘Wizard’ didn’t. Think about that one. In actuality, the ‘Wizard’ was quoting the right theory about self-belief though he didn’t have enough of his own to believe it himself. Notice how ashamed he was when his true identity was discovered. There’s a lot to the phrase “Practice what you preach”.

Dorothy returns home by waking up in the black & white world again. Life is good and simple. Nothing is complicated. Everything is black and white. She sees all her friends around her once more. The U.S. is back to a stable world and still has her allies (although one would become a MAJOR adversary in very short order). Miss Gulch/Germany is nowhere to be seen and the storm has passed!!!!!!!

In closing, did this film warn of the near future events to come? It’s the reader’s decision. Am I seeing things that aren't there or stretching my imagination? Possibly. I would like to state, though, that the odds of chance or coincidence get more and more unbelieveable as the comparisons and visual/verbal hints progress through the film. Was L. Frank Baum aware of any of this? Was anyone at the time? It’s hard to answer that.

While it’s possible certain individuals knew of a ‘grand plan’ and put out the warning through the entertainment medium, it is difficult to fathom that much intricate inside knowledge and detail would be known and woven into an accurate and chronological fictional storyline. Difficult to imagine that any human would be able to do that and have that much accurate and minute control. Human? For the first time I am starting to wonder? If this film was a message at that time - then how many other films are speaking
to us?

The final question would be if this film did reveal pre-arranged events to come then how much control over destiny do we really have?

i thought the day after tomorrow had some symbolism. for example, the vice president(i believe) looked remarkably alot like VP Dick Cheney. and also the administration in office isn't that "enivornmental".
