Stellar
I edited my above post, so check it out again.

QUOTE
People didn't write the Bible. God wrote it through people.

Who wrote the words down on the paper? Gods hand, or the humans hand?

QUOTE
Perhaps people who translated it made mistakes and misconceptions.

Perhaps the people who wrote down the bible made mistakes in their "inspiration" from god? Or perhaps, they just lied from the beginning?

QUOTE
But this is why God created faith, so we may remain steadfast through the folleys of man.

So how do you know that God, if he really exists, is the way christianity portrays him?

QUOTE
As far as the circle of the earth is concerned, how could it be symbolic of anything else other than a round earth?

Ahh, missed 2nd grade geometry, havent you? A circle is a flat 2 dimensional object. It is not a sphere. Funny how you didnt notice that and automatically thought it was right and didnt think "Hey wait a minute! Circles are flat!"

Oops! I guess god made a mistake!

QUOTE
You know, the bible also talks about the waters vents deep under ther ocean ont he ocean floor. This phenomena was not discovered until thousands of years after it was written.

You know, the bible talks about a lot of stuff, not all of it which is right.

You know you talk about alot of stuff, and 99% of it is not right.

Actually Ashley, for a 16 year old, he shows a foundation of knowledge that is relatively impressive. He actually seems to research both sides of an issue before jumping to conclusions, unlike others that I could name. His "batting average" is substantially higher than yours, more logical and less given to belittling others for their beliefs! It is almost like his and your ages are reversed!
Ashley-Star*Child
Funny, for someone who has researched both sides of the story, I haven't found him to know more about mine than his own. What he has is an opinion, not research.
tupac amaru
And what you have isn't even an opinion, it is a fairytale/mythology/false religion!

Oh, well, thats because you consider yourself 100% right, because god said so. Anything else is wrong, which mean it isnt researche.d

Well, like you say to those who believe - PROVE IT!

Typical of an apologist, however in debates there are rules and the rules say that those making the fantastic claims (such as yours for your god and mythology) must provide the proof of their claims! Incidentally, use of mythology is not acceptable proof. Have you found the secular contemporary proof that Jesus ever existed yet? whistling2.gif

Actually Ashley, I think the proof would have to be on your side. It is easier to prove what is not than to prove what is. I am not even going to go there with my religion. The only way to prove it is for someone to go inside my head and see what I have seen and experenced. I can't prove my Gods/Goddess exist. Maybe one day science will bring an understanding for the spirit world, but right now there are only theories. In the mean time faith is all you have Ashley, except that. There is no proof.

If the end comes it will most probably be when the sun expands, after reaching 'red dwarf' stage. It will swallow up Mercurey and Venus and earth will become too hot to live on, but fear not, for Mars may (depending on expansion) develop life and the legacey of intellegent life lives on in this solar system.

I find this antagonistic argument over the different religions and which is true trivial and immature. It is one thing to discuss and compare beliefs, it is another thing to lash out at others who disagree with you. I will not take sides in this statement: each side has made questionably strong statements that can be seen as offensive to the other. Some more than others....

This is why religion isn't for me. I find religion somewhat foolish, despite it's benefits. I place importance on FAITH, not religion. The doctrine you believe in is not nearly as important as your ability to have faith in something that will help you to develop into a spiritually healthy person. If you have faith in God and Jesus' teachings, great for you. If you have faith in no god and in your own ability to control your life.... I do the dance of joy in your honor. I don't care what you believe in.

Now, getting back to the actual topic at hand.... I've talked this over with several people, and apparently I'm the only one who sees the end of the world the way I do.

I don't see the end being all fire and brimstone, hell unleashing itself into our lives, etc. I merely see time stopping. Think about it. What if time just stopped? You stretch, getting out of bed, and suddenly *poof* there is no bed, there is no alarm clock, there is no YOU. You ask a friend if they're going to finish their fries and *poof* no more fries, no more friend, no more world.

I don't know... but that's how I see it .... Anything else, I wouldn't consider "The End." The earth may blow up, but time would continue. As long as existance exists, then nothing is over. As long as time exists, then existance is not obliterated and the "End" has not come.
