One more point I wanted to bring up while here today....and sorry for such a long delay in adding posts! We've been busy getting Mayan Calendar Cast rolling with audio and video shows...

Everyone seems to be focusing all their energy on the prophecies of the Maya. These are of course valuable to some degree...but only to some degree!

WE ARE THE ONES prophecying our own future right now! We are creating our future NOW!

www.airstream-indie-radio.com

Something came across my mind as i was reading this comment. Why are we arguing about it and not coming up with "just in case" measures. we are making our own futures and old prophecies are useful to SOME extent but instead of fighting eachother why not come up with a way to counter "World Domanation"

Think about it thumbsup.gif

hi

i'm new here, and there is a lot of good information here (but also a lot of crap laugh.gif )

I'm new to the Mayan stuff

but it attracts me, so does Area51

I think there may be a link between a51 und ancients civilizations !

Does someone has pics of the signs, that are believed to be made by the Mayans, that contain pictures of kinda-helicopter-looking things and 'diving suits' ? I just can't seem to find any :s

Almost forgot : ontopic : Did the Mayans predict their own extinction ?? I don't think so? :s
So they could be wrong? unless you take the descendants of the Mayans into account unsure.gif

ps: I'm not English nor American, so srry for my language errors

welcome to UM happy.gif

the mayans did predict there collapse. they predicted that people from across the sea would be their downfall - being the spanish in there greed for gold. I'm not sure what the prediction prophecy said exactly, but thats the basics of it.

their predictions are very close, and their mathematics are of our standered, only around 0.5% off (but dont quote me on that, may be a smaller figure). also, their calanders exceed our own yes.gif

For starters, someone's feeding you strange infor for a history class. There is nothing to surprising about the calender; heck the Mayans were not the first people to figure out celestial movement with great accuracy, nor were they the last. The two birds striking the great city is indeed bunk, and I suggest you verify something like that by checking out its source prior to believing it. The forty-day flood has been shown not to have happened in anywhere near the scale the bible talks about. The only reference other than the end-of-world nonsense people like to talk about concerning the 2012 date on the Mayan calender is not, in fact, the end of the world, but rather the beginning of a new cycle, in much the same way that my calender ends on January 30. It doesn't signify that I need to prepare for the end, it signifies that this calender has run out and I need to buy a new one.

then explain how the Maya understood equinoctial precession with the result that they not only knew that the earth revolved around the sun but also worked out 'earth wobble' to an accuracy that is quite disturbing.

Why is it disturbing?

It's only disturbing to thoise who arrogantly think themselves better and cleverer than anyone else, and who can't accept that humans throughout history have been just as intelligent as we are today.

iam not really prone to people making predictions on the end of the world. i have a few "religious" people in my family, who swore to me up and down that on january 1st 2000...the world as we know it would end. ofcoarse it didnt, and it seems now everytime something wrong happens....even HIGH GAS PRICES, is a sign of the end of days. yes, iam sure high gas prices..haha.. how can people of the church actually predict what is going to happen to this world, when in the actual bible says that only god knows when it will end. the year 2012 has alot surrounding it, but i myself think its just another y2k thing, and after the 21st, people will still be making predictions on the supposive end of days.

Heres another one:
--The End of the World will be marked at Sunday December 23, 2012.
Fact: There have been stories in the bible about the 40-day flood that ended the world, stories that the world ended and humans would rise again. You think this will happen in 2012?

----lol, I learned most of this from my history class and a movie that was completely made by scientists and very modern looking, and no its not propaganda. So what do you think? Will the world end in 2012? New York sure was struck in 2001 by giant birds. What are the chances of the world ending?

don't tell me otherwise, because all of it is what really happened, no hoax, no possible way of it being propaganda, no reasonable chance of coincidence--both the Mayans and the Bible tell of the end of the world on the same year----because the flood happens in the Mayan prophecy, and the Bible tells of a comet, what do you think comets are made of----ice, ice melts----and also says the dead rise, like the Mayans said

its disturbing because we could not equal the maya's knowledge of the cosmos until we had invented the telescope.
and its disturbibnf because at the same time that the maya were routinely measuring the length of orbit of numerous stars around the sun they didnt have the means to weigh a bag of corn or understand the concept of the wheel.

You never though that what we know today about Maya culture couldn't be enough to understand those mysteries?
Because when a civilization is destroyed all or some parts of the culture is also destroyed and lost.
Stupid spanish explorers, besides being thiefs of the Discovery Age they was also terrorists.
Thats why I see many sites saying about spanish History in a different way I learned, some people says lies about spanish nation of that time about being a nation that ruled the world, its a lie because spain never reached to be a powerfull empire they even didn't reached and their culture never was recognized in Asia,Oceania,Middle East and Africa.

About the Maya prophecies I think that the end of their calendary could be the end of an Age,we are entering of the Aquarius Age,but remember,Maya existed a lot before Christ so couldn't be related to Church, its difficult to have sure about this kind of things, the best way to have sure is by let it happening and enjoying the moment (if happen).

Another thing is that many people imagine that end to be something so quickly like happen in one day, this can be a slow process that we even couldn't see or give attention to it while is happening, every changes no matter how's important is for us or for the news we listen can have something to do with this prophecy.

The longer you are in and the more (hopefully meaningful) posts you make, the higher up in experience blocks you get.

I think you'll find that the links above, once you get over the doomsaying, still come down to the basic point that "The Mayans simply ended their calender on X date. We don't really know why." If you wish to believe this means the end of the world, well, that is your perogative, however it is far more likely that it simply meant the retirement of the mathematician who was calculating these dates.

That was exactly my first response. But you still never know. Hmmm.

Also, a note to all those connecting the end of the world with the bible. God never said he'd destroy the Earth. There will never be an end to the "world", only an end to the "Wicked", so when God comes, it'll be more of a transition into a more peaceful spiritual age of mankind. So yeah, there actualy is no end of the world, even if you believe in God. It's more of a change.

Yeah, well..

it really depends what branch of christianity you believe in

I mean the christians... well, pretty much everyone's wicked. I mean, if you have sex before marraige.. or wear a rubber... or if you say oh my god... work on sunday, etc.. youre evil.

lol, i dunno though - this 2012 thing is very strange.

I mean, with isreal already a nuclear power, and Iran on their way to getting nuclear arms, a nuclear holy war may be just around the corner. And you may think the US is safe from that cause theyre so far away? bah, they stick their nose in everything. *shrugs* it may just be a time of global tolerance, or maybe there will be visitors from the stars aka 'gods'.

my point is we don't really know, and won't until 2012.

I'm really interested in all this stuff, but I really don't know what to trust anymore.

I mean, apocalypse means revelation, right? As in something being revealed?

I thought that meant that since 1987 or whatever, there's been a revealing of what the next world will be. I don't really know what that means, but I thought the mayan worlds did have some significance, other than just an arbitrary measurement point. I also heard about the next world being blank, supposedly representing that it is somehow yet to be written, in a way presumably that the others were not. I heard that this was meant to be the transcending of time, which would explain why it's blank and unpredictable.

I really hope some of this is based in fact, can anybody tell me where to get reliable information from? I am a skeptic, even though I do want to believe. Or can anyone even just tell me themselves how much of this is based in fact, and whether the mayans did predict things. I haven't heard a single prediction apart from this two great birds one, and would that have originally been in the mayan date, which I think has six sections instead of three?

So if anyone knows any websites that draw their findings from direct translations, or better still, any sites or books that offer direct, OBJECTIVE, translations, as if that would even be a lot to ask for. Doesn't anyone care about the truth anymore?

sorry to bump this up again lol but i was listening to this radio show and they had this one guy on and they were talking about the mayan calendar and 2012, all that good stuff, and the guy brought up an interesting point

think about this the mayan calendar has about 360 days in a year...in our calendar we have about 365

the mayan calendar(or gregorian(spelling is wrong)) i may be wrong but i think it starts around march and ends around october, if you translate it to the julian calendar(our calendar) thats about a 4 month difference

and the guy said some other things to, but he did some math and with all the days and months that are missing compared to calendar he had the mayan calendar ending around the end of this year with all the translations from the mayan calendar to our calendar

Hello,

For what it is worth. As is being discussed here the year 2012 – 2013 A.D. is the ending date given by the Mayan calendar. There are many theories as to why the calendar ends at these dates.( just do a quick web search) I found an interesting article about an asteroid that will pass very close to the earth in 2013 and again in 2029. You can read the article here:

Aprophis

Maybe the ancient Mayans were able to calculate these astronomical events much more accurately than we can.

What may also interest some you is that there is another ancient artifact that gives the dates of 2013 and 2029. That artifact is the Pyramid of Gizeh. It is likely the Witness described in Isaiah 19:19-20 . For those familiar with its chronology it gives the same dates for the Flood, the Exodus, the birth of Yashua and the Resurrection as are given in the Bible. Many men over the last 200 years have tried to predict the future based on the chronological time scale of the Pyramid. What I have found amazing in researching their claims is that just about every one of them as employed a complex “special” time scale to make their calculations fit their own generation. As some of you may know the Pyramid of Gizeh represents time in a simple mathematical equation of 1” to a year. This simple scale of time works beautifully from the flood up until the present day. Because many of the men who researched the Pyramid believed that they were living in the “last days” they tried to modify this simple equation to speed up time. If the chronological time scale of the Pyramid is left as was intended the dates of 2013.14 and 2029.35 are both represented. I do not know what these dates represented. I do know that from studying the symbolism expressed in the Pyramid of Gizeh that these dates are important. The later date especially in that it is the year ending the 123rd Jubilee from the Biblical creation of Adam as well as the 40th Jubilee from the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD. I personally do not believe that any “dates” can be used to predict specific events in the future. What these dates as well as others may well show us is that YHWH had an intended plan since the beginning and we will be able to look back in eternity and see His perfect design. In other words, we will be able to use these dates’ as indicators of the future and confirmations after the events have transpired. If you would like to see these dates as they are represented in the Pyramid of Gizeh you can view them here:

http://www.countdowntothemessiah.com/The%2...nograph2012.htm

I want to state clearly that I do not know what these dates represent. They may well be inaccurate. I simple share them with you because this subject has been an area of personal interest for over 15 years. Only in the last year have I begun to think that these dates may have any relevance at all. And this is only because they are amazingly close to some of the dates given in the Bible that point to the return of Yashua the Messiah.

My personal belief (please note this is a personal belief based on my own research) is that 2012 -2013 may start a serious period of turmoil leading up to the return of Yashua the Messiah. The basis for this research is here:

http://www.countdowntothemessiah.com/The%2...ntdown%20II.htm

Is it possible that the mayans were predicting the next major pole shift?

According to http://www.polereversal.com we are overdue for a pole shift and speculations is that the next one may occur on 2012.

What the mayans ment would happen in 2012 could be nearly everything (it happens a lot in 2012) from meteors to that pole shift... But myself I belive that what they mean is that in 2012 the aliens would come and collonize our planet (that would be an new era if you asks me)

if the mayan predicted the future what happened to them?
but then again if they put prediction in and we avoided it then its not a prediction!!

pajamajoho
Wooooow I read just about the first 12 pages of this argument and I just had to create an account and say a few things.

First off, for all those people saying, "Well, if the Mayans were so great at predicting things, then why couldn't they predict their own 'destruction'?" I'd like to begin with the fact that the "end of the world" prediction is purely astronomical...I doubt the fall of the Mayans has anything to do with the alignments of the planets...or rather in the case of the end of the world, the alignment of the sun in comparison to the universe. So the Mayans didn't just sit around predicting random events in time like "Oh tomorrow George will come down with the flu and our civilization will cease to exist at X time." They just had a complex calendar and set of beliefs that led them to this prediction.

Secondly, I'd like to give a little spiritual input on the whole argument. I have heard a lot of points on this board that I agree with and like very much...but I'd like to add a little. I believe, at this point in my life ....of course beliefs are always changing, that the end of the world will be the end of the world as we KNOW IT. As in, I love the idea of a more enlightened human population. We as a human society and as beings will be less materialistic and...more, well enlightened, for a lack of words. I love that whole idea, but I want to work a little Christianity into it....except reverse it. Christianity has a belief, and correct me if I'm wrong, that there will be an Apocalypse and all the good Christians will be sent up to heaven to be with God while the others are stranded on Earth for seven years to suffer and reflect on their errors...and the wicked will be damned, the blessed be rewarded....and that's a little summary. Well, what if it's sort of the opposite.

If you research into metaphysical beliefs, there is a belief that souls reincarnate. They reincarnate over and over again and during each life their soul learns something new...and grows. We don't know what these lessons are because we're too....human to understand lol. But anyways, there are older souls and younger souls. Younger souls tend to be either religious fanatics or atheists...the two extremes of naivety (word? Yes or no? lol). Older souls inhabit bodies that are more sensitive to the…I don’t want to say paranormal. *sigh* I don’t know how to put this without making it sound loony, but these people are more laidback….spiritual…enlightened….enlightened is the perfect word in this situation!

Anyways where I’m getting with this is, at the end of the world, the Earth will cleanse itself of the younger souls and be inhabited by the older souls. These souls will be strong and wise enough to uphold a more enlightened society. I know I’m not explaining this correctly…because I have the ideas in my head, but words fail me. Anyways, you could possibly get the point that there will be an Armageddon, but…only the weak will be killed off until their souls are ready to return to this new, more loving Earth. Maybe they’ll go off onto another plane to finish off their learning so that they may join the older souls.

There is spiritual evidence that souls are splitting and living multiple lives at once. For example, my mom has reason to believe that her soul is inhabiting another man up in New York who she hasn’t met yet, but has “seen”. We’re going to find out if he really exists or not…oh man I know this sounds so crazy to everybody reading this lol, but if you open your minds to the possibilities! Also, I’ve witnessed a shift in my being from when I was younger to my older age…I believe my soul sort of learned a lesson in the first part of my life and has now matured and is living out another as we speak. The point behind this is that souls sense the end of this world and are trying to get in as many lessons as possible.

Either way, I know I’ve mixed a bunch of stuff together not even nearly explaining it to a point where you wouldn’t think I was crazy…but the point is, I think the end of the world is going to be a great thing and I can’t wait for it! It’ll be the end of the destructive, materialistic lives that most of us lead these days. I’m excited for a more enlightened world…I’m not scared and I do believe in it. I’m not even sure when. 2012 doesn’t necessarily mean anything, but it’d be really neat if it was that close. Others have predicted farther in the future. No matter what, I know things have gotten bad on this planet lately….though they’ve sort of always BEEN bad, I think everything’s headed in a right direction.

Sorry this was so long…and if anybody’s even following this thread anymore, I’m sure there’ll be a lot of questions and opposition to this. The only thing I can offer you is to study world religions and reflect on yourself really.

My beliefs, as I said earlier, aren’t even concrete, but up until recently I was an atheist and having a spiritual side at least takes away some of the fear associated with this world and with some religions.

Hope this helps in the discussion original.gif

PS...I'm a college student from a middle class family, i do not suffer from any mental problems....i play field hockey, do show choir, and i have friends haha. this isn't coming from a nutcase, just hours upon hours thinking at night and having discussions with my mother who's an expert in world religions.

Would the possible up coming pole shift have anything to do with the terrible hurricanes???
On the local news yesterday, the perdiction for this years hurricane season is suppose to be worse than last year. I'm in Houston. w00t.gif I have read that the Mayans and Egyptians were actually from Atlantis. But, during the last pole shift, Atlantis sank. This is how the Mayans knew of the pole shift in 2012. I'll try to find the article if anyone's intrested.

By all means, it sounds interesting. However, I find the prospect that the Mayans were related to the Egyptians to be a bit far-fetched. The key similarity seems to be that they both built pyramids and both wrote in heiroglyphs. Of cours, the fact that the pyramids differ in design, construction, and purpose, and that their writtings also differ in design and syntax, is largely unreported. There is also the question of DNA, which shows that the Egyptians and Mayans are not closely related.

it is not the end of the world we are talking about, it is the end of days,,,,,,,there's a difference, on the december 21st, 2012, we will be looking at a major polar shift

lets say that the polar shift forwards the end of days, the apocalypse- and that is why the bible code points towards that exact date

hmmmm wow.... i predict that on day people will realize that when they die its there time to die and wont have a problem with that. i also predict that many people will die but only because they were trampled by soccer moms buying a whole bunch of cannd food for there bomb shelter. while the rest of the people that have better things to like worry about this months rent and looking before crossing the street get trampled while trying to buy some garbonzo beans for dinner no.gif o and me however will be in the army ready to own some alien ass cool.gif and for those of you who are concernd and worried i wish u good luck thumbsup.gif
