Someone told me that the Mayan prophecies have similarities with Christian prophecies and a few other "End of Days" Prophecies, religious and non religious alike. Anybody know anything about it?

Their calender consisted of a 260-day religous calender, twenty 30-day months with a seperate 5 days at the end.

Wouldn't that make 600 days in a year?

The Maya had over 20 calendars. All their calendars fell out of use with the decline of the Classical period (200 AD - 900 AD) Mayan civilization, except one, their master calendar, called the Tzolkin, which has been kept without the loss of a single day for 2500 years. This would be the 260 day calendar which you mentioned. (13 twenty day months)

The Maya also had a calendar for tracking the solar year called The Haab. It was a 365 1/4 day calendar. The Haab was made up of 18 twenty day months (equals 360) plus a 5 and 1/4 day period called the Wayeb, accurate to within .002 seconds, more accurate than our current day calendar.

The Haab was used primarily for planting and harvesting. Because it tracked "physical objects moving through space" it was not the centerpoint of their civilization. They were unusual in that way, compared to us today. The most important calendars in the Mayan world measured and mapped out patterns and wave cycles of energy, creative energy patterns that they were able to observe.

New information has emerged from the research of Dr. Carl J. Calleman who has resurrected the ancient Mayan calendar from the dust of 1000 years.

The Tzolkin calendar was used along with another calendar called the Tun, a 360 day callendar of 18 twenty day months. In phase together, the Tzolkin and the Tun calendars map out the 16.4 Billion year evolutionary cycle of the universe. We are in the last 5 years of that cycle....

The Mayan Calendar shows us that we are already in the "Apocalypse". We have been since Jan 5, 1999. (Apocalypse means unveiling, or, revealing)

The benefits of learning about the Mayan Calendar come through gaining understanding of the frequencies, patterns and wave cycles of sacred time (outside the domain of linear, physical frames of reference) that show us;

1- the schedule of the plan of creation
2- where we are in that schedule
3- when it ends
4 - what to do to actively participate in/with it.

The last part of the cycle we are in, and the next one that ends in 2011, are for us to complete the final phase of "our" evolution, which is the evolution of our consciousness.

The single most valuable message in the Mayan sacred time science is; this is about us becoming aware of the process of the evolution of our consciousness that is already going on, and participating in it......not waiting around to see what will happen at "one single event" on Dec 23, 2012.

If you are waiting to see....you might be missing the greatest opportunity of all time, which is, you stepping into your own superpowers as a Human with no limitations..... That is what all the ancient texts say about those living "in the end of days".... who.... "will conquer death".......

It might be worth your while to look at this from a fresh perspective.

Peacefully,
Jag

I think the problem with all of these predictions, is that it is INTERPRETED, historians may not read things as the mayans meant them or wrote them. yes.gif All of the things you all have said is interesting, but i always look on these 'predictions' with a pinch of salt as it is how they have been interpreted and translated. I vagiely remember one of the translations of Nostradamus where it was translated as something major, but when they checked it, it was a typo. Because how the 'f's were printed in that time, it had completetly changed the context of the sentance. (Sorry i can't be more accurate)

(Sorry if this has been said, i have not read 24 pages of this thread.)

It looks to me like someone has been thinking too hard.

No offense, but I'd be more worried about Apathos (2029 meteor)

I think it won't be a question of if but when & how that will proove just how technologically advanced and accurate the Mayans/Ancients really were with their predictions and or of time and space.
I also think Adam06 hit the nail on the head when stating that most historians/researchers in the past(due to valuable evidence lost and destroyed in the past)have misinterpreteted the ancients true meaning & purpose and their predictions.

just my ps opinion...

to all you guys the world is NOT ending!! we are simply beginning a new era, 1 of balance and peace. december 21, 2012 is when it'll start. it'll be a day of chaos and death but then we will emerge to a new level, one of peace and balance. at least that's what i've learned. wink2.gif

I could not have said it better myself. I dream, that the world is NOT ending, but it will be the end of all evil...
That day cant come early enough.......

I find it so refreshing and interesting to tie ufos and mayan prophesy with the prophesies of the bible. the more I research the more my eyes open to all the possibilities!!

Its not refreshing, its moronic.

24 pages of speculation piled upon speculation. Do you know how easy it is to misread or misinterpret a passage from the bible? And you're adding that to an ancient, meaningless Mayan prophecy and never-to-be-proven UFOS?

And your proof? Rambling texts on the internet. Well call the British Library, we obviously have some scholars in town.

*sigh*

Wow.

I could only get to page 10 before I had to post something.

There is too much talk of Iraq and all kinds of unrelated stuff in the topic.

Let me summarize for you everything discussed in this topic so that you don't have to read it.

1. Many people are confused about which mayan calendar is the right calendar. THere are multiple calendar systems in the Mayan world. If you are confused, please go to Google and type in Mayan Calendar. Go to many websites and read all you can.

2. The Mayans were extremely intelligent. Their culture stems from thousands of years of people in south america. In 900ad their civilization stopped suddenly, we are unsure of why. The Aztecs were the ones who came into contact with Cortez. The groups of people around the Aztecs, who were being tortured and killed by them, led the Aztecs to their death withthe help of the Spaniards. I believe that the Mayans did know what was happening to their culture. It was becoming too large, too materialistic, similar to the Western world we see today. So they stopped it by going back into the regular world they were used to before, living in the wild. If you see Apocalypto, which I think was a wonderful, yet somewhat inaccurate film, it really shows that the mayans were just living in the forest in the shadow of the Aztec and they caused the whole Spanish integration.

3. The 2012 date is not the end of the world. It is the end of a cycle of time the mayans reverred. They had many cycles upon cycles, much more complicated than anything we conceive of these days. It's sort of like how we have a 4 year cycle of the leap year. Well they had thousands of year cycles. 2012 is the end of the largest cycle, the biggest cycle. It starts completely over on that date.

4. Their calendar is easy to understand. In fact, groups around the US including one in my town Ashland have printed Mayan calendars which show you the mayan date on top of the western calendar date. It's a fascinating way to look at their calendar and understand their astrology. (Im the Mirror)

5. Just because their culture ended, doesn't mean they didn't know it would. Again, the Aztecs were the ones who grappled with Cortez, not the Mayans. We don't even know why the Mayans abandoned their great cities in 900ad they just did. Probably because they knew they had to anyway. I already talked about this. But I just want to stress that they are not idiots like some of you claim.

6. When it comes to pole shifts, which I know a bit about from lots of research into all the topics brought up in this thread, I don't even know why they were introduced into this topic. Were talking about the MAyans and 2012. I do not neccissarily believe that a pole shift will be involved withthis. It will be an astrological/astronomical significance that we are looking for in 2012. The harmony of our planet will change. Whether you think so or not, there are MUCH greater forces at work in this universe than what scientists and your history books tell you. Especially you young people on this board, please do NOT listen to everything you hear. It might not be true. Come on, I mean they used to think the world was flat. They thought the earth was the center of the universe. Who cares what "they" think. KJust live life, enjoy life, understand that it is more complicated than god or jesus or anyone can tell you it is. And on that note, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do NOT take the Bible for what it says. I love Jesus Christ, dont get me wrong, but you CANNOT take the historical things in the bible seriously unless you have a newly translated copy of the bible. WOrds in Hebrew and Greek can mean many things. If you are an english language speaker you cannot really understand this. To them, one word can mean 1 mile 10 miles 100 miles 1000 miles. So 40 days and 40 nights could be 400 days or 40 hours, you just cannot take that stuff literally. I mean at least the one thing I do know for sure is that Moses did not part the Red sea he parted the REED sea, the Nile! That was not hard! THe Nile is nothing compared to the Red sea (in length across). Mistranslation can cause a lot of trouble, as you can see from this forum. Those of you saying that Adam and Eve existed, wow. You really need to get out of your Bible and go study ANYTHING ELSE BUT IT. There is one mother to us all and SHE WAS A BLACK WOMAN IN AFRICA, ok? Some things you can prove. Other things you just can't.

I think this is all I wanted to say. =)
