Are you Anti-Chinese?

I wouldn't say I am anti-Chinese. I do believe that is the greatest threat to America, military-wise, and I originally went to OCS so that I would be in a position to fight against the Chinese military (four days prior to my departure, my priorities changed. 9/11). While I am wary of them as a country, I don't really have a problem with Chinese people in general.

No

One member likes shortening Christian to xian... Kinda like how people shorten Christmas to xmas.

My first impression from the title is Athenian feels the religious room here at UM is Anti-Orient (Anti-Asian) because it has very little talk of anything beside JESUS!
Just a guess

I think the fact that he's circles Xian on the map is supposed to indicate that he takes offence to Beowulf's references to the "Xian cult". Now that I understand Xian is simply a shortened version of Christian, much as Xmas is Christmas, this reference is now far clearer.
I thank Beowulf for a useful abreviation

Religion, however, is a different matter.

No reason to be anti-religion

I'm not anti-religion, but religion is not the same as nationality. The fact that discrimination concerning race has been associated with racism is misleading because it brings ambiguity. There are Lebanese and Middle Eastern Christians, just as there seem to be the other way around. Religion is not based on race.

See, look what you've done (he, whom shall remain nameless who started using the term 'xians') you have offended an innocent person, and an entire city with your insults.

The Chinese government passed a proposal with a goal of engaging the United States in military conflict within 10 years. This was 8 years ago.
Here is an update on the situation:
http://www.cnn.com/2003/WORLD/asiapcf/east...4/willy.column/China is readying itself for a conflict with the United States...regardless of what the United States does. I don't believe they're trying to avoid a conflict with the U.S. I believe they're making sure one happens.
Now, as far as my views against Asian people go....they stand where everyone else does in the world.
If you're a friend of our people, then I'm a friend of yours. But if you have designs on destroying our people, then I'm the worst enemy you could have in this world.

Why are you bringing politics against one person?

Beowulf is not anti-Chinese, I have a degree from the Institute of Far Eastern Languages at Yale University and spent a good deal of my career in the U.S. Intelligence Services working the "Chinese problem". I like and admire the traditional Chinese culture, but have no use for the current Chinese government. I do believe that cracks are starting to show in their infrastructure and would not be surprised to observe a Soviet style collapse of the Communist regime within the next decade! That incidentally is only a personal opinion! Shadowsleet, you are welcome for the abbreviation, I have a good friend (also a Deist) whose term for them is Christ Cultists and if you really look at the definition of a cult, you can see that it just might apply!

When i first saw this i thought it was degrading and racist in itself. Why bother as that question??
Why not 'Is this forum Anti-Mex, or anti-Germ'. I don't see any Germans on the site. And why on earth would you use 'Orient'??

That's how this whole thing got started? Just because of shortening Christians to Xians?
Crazy.

I think that now that we have got the whole ordeal explained that there is no reason to keep this thread open any longer.
