Family's Missing Dog Found 1,600 Miles From Home
Woman Decides Not To Get 11-Year-Old Dog Back

POSTED: 8:54 am EST December 9, 2004

FLOWER MOUND, Texas -- Gail Scott can't understand how her dog Carla ended up in Texas, 1,600 miles from home.

The Washington state woman was shocked when she got a call from a Denton, Texas, veterinary hospital, saying her mixed-breed dog had been found. Carla was identified through an implanted microchip.

Scott, who adopted Carla in 1998 from a Washington pound, believes the dog escaped from her yard the day before Thanksgiving and was picked up by a trucker at a nearby truck stop.

She said it would be too hard to get 11-year-old Carla back to Washington state, so she's asked a The Flower Mound Humane Society in Texas to put her pet up for adoption.

Aw, poor dog. sad.gif Owner didn't even want to take her back. It's really hard for adult dogs to find homes in shelters, bu tI hope she gets one. sad.gif

That's really wierd that the owner didn't want to take back a dog that (I assume) he's had for 11 years.

Hopefully the dog will find a good home in the shelter.

Why wouldn`t you want your dog back!?!? It wouldn`t have been that hard to get it back, poor dog!

Wow the owners didn't want the dog back! If I lost my dog, I would FLY to where he was.

My this dog was planning it's escape for the past 11 years and escaped on Thanksgiving (because they will over look her because of guests and preparing the food).

If MY dog went missing and was found, you bet I'd go get her straight away! Poor pooch. It can be really hard for old dogs to find homes, and they're usually euthanized. I wish the poor dear the best of luck.

My sister's hamster went missing for 3 days and we found him behind the water heater.

If you go to any dog pound and talk to the staff, this isn't an unusual case.
Before we got our golden retriever pup, we saw a pure bred 2yr old male goldy at our local pound.
We were told his owners had been contacted, as had many other dogs owners but they don't want to pay the fees for getting the dogs out and registered.
The goldy already had a list of people waiting to take him after the 2wk waiting period was up. He ended up going to a home 4 hrs away, but the new owners were happy to travel to get him. grin2.gif
It's wrong and the original owners should get a little black mark against them. disgust.gif

Tha poor dog! If I had a dog that ran away I would try my best to get it back, and when it finally does come back, I would want to keep it.
About 9 years ago, my cat ran away and I haven't seen it since. crying.gif
I would do almost anything to get it back, though.

Maybe your dogs will be glad to be away from you. Who knows.
