I can't remember if this was a topic of conversation before,

but here's a link to a site that tells about a German woman who gave birth to a baby with 'alien' features back in 1735. Very bizarre.

Could have this been an undiagnosed cace of Elephantitis?? Like the Elephant man years ago?? Some of the features are similar.

It looks to me like a feotus, I remember seeing a picture similar to the one on the site a while back, it looked like that one, and it was an unborn featus from a human.

put me down for ...........elephant man......... as well. the only problem is that i didnt know they were very deformed at birth. oh well, that was a really long time ago, and we cant really exam the mother now. till we find DNA in that thing that isnt human, i say it is just an abnormal baby.

I'm hearing a lot of 'Elephant Man' stuff but I have no idea what that is. Does n e 1 have any linx to a page about the so-called 'Elephant Man'? And yeah, I think it is just an abnormal birth. Like *m3ntal*PaTienT* said, she probably did drugs or something...

John Merrick did infact suffer from Elephantitis. The genetic disorder he was wrongfully diagnosed with was Neurofibromatosis a disorder which causes many symptoms the main one being fibromas ( small benign tumas) on the nerve endings of the person with Neurofibromatosis.

Kismit and Lisa are right, it wasn't neurofibromatosis. It was Proteus Syndrome, diagnosed in 1979.
So, the comparison between the alien baby and the Elephant Man is faulty. Merrick's disease caused deformities in bone and skin growth only. The description of the alien baby states that the deformed skull was filled with brain matter. Merrick's bones were also all accounted for, whereas the alien baby is described as missing bones in the fore arms and lower legs, as well as knee caps. Also, there was no mention of deformity in Merrick's internal organs, as were described in the alien baby.
Lastly, as CASTOR pointed out, any of these diseases would develop over time after birth. Merrick was apparently sufficiently normal from birth until about 12 years old, when he was deemed "too ugly to look at." The alien baby was obviously deformed in the womb.
That leaves only the most obviouse conclusion: mom ate a bad bowl of chili while pregnant.
(It does kinda look like a Chupacabra, though, huh?)

I think its nothing strange... I think there was some problem with that woman.....and I believe outta 60000 births every time....1 can be a strange one......that is ...it is within limits...
Kismit

well 1 in every 6000 births can be Neurofibromatosis . And thats the most common genetic disorder in the world . So I would think the odds would be somewhat higher for a mutation like this one Dr. Brain.
Quite a lot higher but not impossible.

I think that its a foetus born with a severe abnormality/disease of the skull. Poor little mite.

Here's just a thought. Has anyone seen that Stephan King movie or read the book "The Dark Half?" The guy finds out he started out as twins, but his twin was absorbed into his body at some pre-fetil (?) stage. Then as an adult this guy finds out parts of his twin brother (teeth, eyes, etc) are growing in his brain and causing him to become somewhat schizophrenic.
Maybe something along those lines happened to this kid. A twin got partially absorbed. The bulbous mass is said to contain brain matter, perhaps this was a remnant of the twins' skull and brain. The missing bones in the arms and legs may have tried to be absorbed into the lost twin, but never formed. Likewise, the abnormal internal organs may have resulted from the cells not really sure how to preform their encoded genetic programing with all the extra material to work with and just kinda ad-libbed. Or maybe the cells just skipped programming class that day.
Like I said, just a thought...

It's very interesting, very strange and very sad. Do you think that had the baby been born now that it might have survived?

Deformity, that's all that it was back then and right now. It's a shame that that poor child was labeld as a "alien" when in fact it was just a deformity. I wonder how long the child lived for? Of course that picture was taken when? When it was born or after it died? Hmm, this remides of one of the pictures in the Gallery.
Happy Holidays!

A fetus looks alien like in early gestation. It doesn't say at what term this baby was born.
It looks like a premature fetus with severe birth defects to me!
Very Interesting!
