Why Ghosts are seen wearing Clothes... They are souls of the dead.. so how come they seen wearing clothes?
ROGER
no.gif Because no body would report seeing an old women or old man naked ghost.
That would be disgusting ohmy.gif

Yeah I asked myself that question a while ago, the answer is probably that ghosts are nothing but the image we have of them, I don't know, perhaps the real ghosts are the naked ones?

I am guessing ghosts are mostly some type of energy either caught within the walls that repeats over and over, or they are spirits left behind. Since they dont have a physical form, their forms would be determined by their perception and self image. Thus they their form would be determined by their thoughts and what they remember even if subconciously. Most people dont picture themselves as nakid, and think of themselves in clothes when they picture their bodies.

The “ghost clothes” topic has been debated since the 19th century. When we were filming at Rotherwood, a haunted mansion in Kingsport, Tenn., we had to hire actors, one of whom was to play the part of Rowena Ross, Rotherwood’s “Lady in White.” The producer found a 19-year-old girl to play the part but I objected because Rowena was in her late 30s when she committed suicide. After discussing the issue, I finally said, “Oh well, if Rowena has the ability to return from the dead, I suppose she can appear at any age she chooses.” I apply the same reasoning to “ghost clothes.”

Has anyone else heard the story of the man in a raincoat who appeared in (I'm thinking) a hotel lobby somewhere, flashed a couple of elderly ladies and then disappeared? <G> Don't remember where I read that. Probably either in the National Directory of Haunted Places or one of the Winer/Osbourn books.

laugh.gif I was going to say that! tongue.gif I guess you beat me to it! I'm not sure why they would. I have no answer for this topic.

Perhaps they just keep the form they had when they died. In their mind, so to speak. dontgetit.gif

Are they really dressed as anything specific? Or is it how our brain interprets the entity or spirit or ghost?

There are a few tales here and there of naked ghosts, but I believe the spirit of a person who wouldn’t have walked around naked in life, would be unlikely to do so in death.

Additionally, I don’t think our perception has anything to do with a ghost’s attire. There have been many sightings of ghosts, especially in the UK, by people who could not identify period dress and would review a book of clothing styles to ascertain the type clothing the ghost was wearing. In many of these cases, more than one person saw the apparition and agreed on the type and color clothing in which the ghost appeared.

Resurrection Mary, one of America's better-known hauntings, is said to appear in a white 1930s-style party dress. Yet, research has revealed she was, in fact, buried in an orchid-colored dress. This has led many to believe Resurrection Mary is not the spirit of the girl buried in the cemetery who was killed in an accident in the 1930s. These people, for reasons known only to themselves, think spirits are confined to appearing in their burial clothes. This, of course, is not true. Both Mary, Queen of Scots, and Anne Boleyn haunt numerous locations in the UK and they appear in various costumes. It is most likely the two queens appear in clothing they wore while living at, or visiting, a location they now haunt.

In Virginia City, Nev., there is a ghost of a murdered lady of the evening who appears in various costumes.
