AUBURN, Mass. - There are some things that people will take
with them to their graves. However, it's highly unlikely that
one of those things will be a person's phone bill. A local
cemetary received a phone bill last week for David Towles at
his current address: Hillside Cemetary, Evergreen Section,
Auburn, Mass. Plot 01501. It seems that companies will hassle
you about bills even after you're dead. The cemetary's super- intendent Wayne Bloomquist was surprised to see the Sprint bill
for 12 cents, including 10 cents for a call placed on February
16th, five years after Towles died. Bloomquist sums up the
incident perfectly: "Our clients here don't usually get mail."

Reminds me of a 'Twilight Zone' episode I saw once.... creepy. huh.gif
HD
Is that the episode where the old woman keeps getting calls and no one else can hear them and in the end it turns out to be from a grave the phone line goes in to a grave of a lost love?

i work in a mail room. i still get mail everyday for a man who died 7 years ago. often, its from the same places that ive returned mail saying he is deceased several times already.

it just shows you that at least to junk mailers, we are eternal. smile.gif
Althalus
do you think they will ever get the hint and junk mail the dead, so we do not have to get it?

either that or write on the mail 'I used to be a tree' and send it back to them.

My friend rang her dead fathers cell phone , and he answered . Now that was a little unnerving .

O.K. so it was his voice mail box but it was still a little bit of a shock to here him say "Hello" biggrin.gif

Yes HD. I remember the closing shot of the episode was where the storm had
damaged the phone line and it was trailing onto the grave of the dead guy....

...gave me the creeps in a big way... eeek!

Goes to show at what extent these companies will go to, to get their money.

Hey, if dead folks can vote and get taxed, why not pay up on bills due?

I tried to reply a little earlier, but it kept saying I had to wait 30 seconds between posts.. and I hadn't posted for an hour!!

That's high strangeness there..

Anyway, what in particular did you need to know? The man in this story got mail that was obviously a mistake. There have been other stories of contact beyond the grave.. did you want links to such as these?

huh.gif So, will his "late" payment ruin his credit rating? biggrin.gif I think that is hilarious! I would have to keep the bill and frame it!
