i voted false. shape shifting would have been an arcanic art of polymorphing which is deemed as one of the most complicated arts. if anyone was ever able to harness its powers it is lost (along with all of the arcane) in our modern day society.

must i always explain? *sigh*
i voted false because that i deem it highly unlikely that it is possible, to take on the scientific side it would be completely imposible. you would have to have the power to change your cells into, or a hybrid of a different species....now as for the arcanic side

if it was possible it would have been a very rare ability. hence i voted false. I CAN TURN FROM A MINOTAUR TO A WEREWOLF!!!!!!!!! AHAHAHAHA!!!![SIZE=1]in dnd anyways....

I voted True i mean technically it is possible to appear shape shifted to the eye but not truly shifted. Not like dressing up but tricking the eye.
Also it probably was possible back a long time ago.

Answer this - when a werewolf is in the process of shape shifting, how is the hair and where is the hair of a werewolf kept for storage and what muscles are making the hair stand out and grow more quick?

There are some people who have hair all over their bodies, and they used to be mistaken for werewolves. There are also some people who suffer from lycanthropy, were you believe you're a wolf. (I might have a light touch of it-*howls*) They can lose control and attack and kill people, but they can't help it. Also, I highly doubt werewolves ever existed, but the concept is really cool.
By the way, welcome to the forum!

Hypertrichomis - disease where an uncontrollability of involuntary hair grows in random areas of the body continously and repeatidly throughout life...But many people are positive about their disease (Larry & Danny Gomez) who perform for a circus and are happy and don't mind their condition...

Yes, true. Many people consider these people who are diagnosed with hypertrichomis werewolves or atleast "freak of natures" which I am totally against using that word. Though like I mentioned in another thread all about hypertrichomis, maybe people have come across diagnosed people with this disease and then claimed to have seen a werewolf - hate to say it but its a possibility -

I think there would be too much mass lost for shapeshifting. Like, if a human were to become a wolf (and wolves can weigh up to 200lbs, even though that is very rare. Normally they're around 100lbs or so), the mass itself would be about the same at the beginning, but what about oh, say...fingers. I guess they would just fall off, they can't just shrink up into the body. And when the wolf reverted back to human, where does the tail go? I suppose it would have to fall off, too. The shapeshifter would lose too much mass in transformation.

I've thought about this too much. Perhaps I should go to bed.

Very true - also like I continue to wonder to myself, where would the hair be located, in the arm itself! No? Eyes transforming, nose transforming, senses changing totally, walking position - everything would totally change changing the homeostatic balance itself or as I like to say dynamic equilibrium -

whose to say they grow tails and whos to say they have paws?... maybe everything stays the same except neural reception of your sences (if that even makes sence)...what im trying to say is maybe your sences become more finely tuned and as for hair... we have hair all over our bodies anyway...well most men anyway...

i voted true because i defintley believe in them no matter what... well if they are not real then who made them up ? how? where? when ? someone just couldn't think up something like this over night.
yes many people have made stories up but if you look at their statments then all the werewolves look the same, but these people are from all over the world..
so my opinion is they are real but hey it is my opinion

Although we can never know for sure, the werewolf myth probably evolved in many of the same ways most myths evolved in the past. The myth changed and got stronger with time, no one had to come up with it overnight. The human imagination is extremely powerful!
Also, the descriptions of the appearances of werewolves in ancient myths have
enormous variety, rather than always looking and acting the same.
