Sorry to burst your bubble Zudo, but telepathy is reading someones minds. Telepathy, and Telekinesis my sound alike, but really there is a fine line between them.

it depends on how you use it. if you just randomly read people's mind's for no reason other than to know what they're thinking, then i think it's an invasion of privacy.

People have no privacy any more. If someone is suspected of thinking ill thoughts against me, I have the right to uncover these thoughts by any means possible. Personal preservation is our base instinct.

No you don't. Then they would have the right to uncover any bad thoughts that you were thinking.

If everyone was telepathic, i could imagine there would be a lot of issues with invasion of privacy. Perhaps laws would be established, and anyone trying to read someone's mind without permission could be prosecuted.
There would have to be some way of maintaining control over it, or everyone would know anything they wanted about anyone, depending on just how effective this 'mind reading' was.

Yep! That's right!
Life is pretty much a free for all.

A free for all? Life isn't free for all. There's child labor, slavery, abuse............not everyone's free to do whatever they want.

WHAT IN GOD'S NAME ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!
I didn't think it was possible for a person to be so deluuded that they could misunderstand a simple comment to this extent. What are they teaching you in schools these days anyways?

Uh you said life was a free for all, and that's not true. I know what you meant, but technically it isn't correct.

I wouldn't consider life as a 'Free-for-all' but 'None for all and all for One'.
One would try to get everything it can, and give none of it to any.
Cause the bad thing to do in the first place is to read someone's mind, I would consider that blackmailing....its like spying on them, unless you get their permission. When peoples secrets are read, they wouldn't not feel to happy about that and they would feel that their privacy is invaded.

If telepathy was developed to such an extent then definately some sort of defence against it would be developed as well, I think.
psychicpowersarenice
Dec 25 2004, 03:32 PM
Actually, that has been developed already. You can use psi to shield someone from reading your mind. It rocks!

A defense system preventing intrusian can be invented, like all the awespiring inventions already made...once thought out as fantasies.
Have you seen any futuristic movie/tv show where gaurds put some sort of device that encircles the head, and blinks midly to prevent any mind abilities of a prisoner? Yeah, well thats a fantasy and that can be true one day. If it does happen, then that defense system would be cool, and be able to block telepathy....(if it exists)....happy?

I've never seen that on anything on tv.........but it sounds cool! I'd definitely get one!
