When i was about 11 at my friends house once staying overnight there was a powercut in all the streets where i live.
so we went downstairs and his dad was lighting candles etc and he suggested that me him his sister take the dog out for a while so we got torches and his sisters friend came with us.
we went round the back of his street where theres a long path with a small forest lined in front of a large field (for the record its all downhill behind it to a big forest) so we walked down the down the path until we came to a part where the small forest is split in 2 so you can go through the middle to the field
its always overgrown so there was branches and bushes kind of covering it a bit,but anyway his sister and her friend had walked on quite a bit further than us and we stood there shining the torch up to the sky because you could actually see the light on the clouds it seemed.
then we shone the torch down on the path to the field and there was this green man he looked really old his legs were bent and his hands touched the ground he must have been about 10 feet tall possibly bigger with what seemed like lumps all over his body the same colour as his skin,in proportion to us i think his hands were probably a bit smaller than the size of a football same with his feet.
anyway even though i do remember a lot of detail it was only there for about one second then it dissapeared like the scene changes in a film like straight to another scene really quick.
and no it wasnt the shape of the branches or anything that caught our eye we both saw it and when it dissapeared you could see where it had been if it had been an illusion we would still be able to see it.
im posting this everywhere i can to see if anyone else has seen anything like this or has any info on it so any (genuine) replies would be appreciated

Reminds me the story of the 2 green children dicovered wanderind in a field in Spain (I think it was in Spain, not sure about that). There was a boy and a girl. The boy died soon after some people adopte them. The girl manage to survive and her skin became normal after a while. When she was able to speak, she explain that they came from a another world, and arrived on Earth by a hole in a cave.

Maybe its an earth elemental that you saw.people here in the Philippines always describe the same thing, a "lamang-lupa" as they call it.

Have you ever read the book Faeries? I betcha I could tell you what it was with more detail. Jack-In-The-Irons came to mind...but he's a Yorkshire Faerie. I'd bet that's what you have... a faerie. Tell me more and I'll see if I can help.

I think they meant a Leprechaun that Drags it's knuckles. Most Faeries do have features that are out of proportion to the rest of their bodies, hands, feet, legs, arms, noses and heads being the most common. If you were anywhere near a bog, at all it was probably a Shellycoat faerie. Shellycoats have green, lumpy skin and enjoy tricking travelers (which they might have thought you were). However my instinct tells me it was a scottish faerie called, Ghillie Dhow. They are the Guardians of Trees and since you were near/in a forest that is a first indicator. They often are disguised as foliage the fact it was/is over-grown says something. They don't like humans which could be why he ran away so quickly. Last of all it is said they are green. It is possible that it was another kind, but this just seems to fit.
