ok basicaly, scientists have came up with this small chip that stores a person's medical history. So, next time you go to the ER or doctor, all they have to do is scan the chip to get the person's medical information. Like allergies, heart problems, organ problems, blood problems.. what surgeries they've had, drugs they're on...
It sounds all nice and good... but people fear it.

Why. Is my question. Why the hell do they need the chip in the person's brain when you can just whip up a document on that stuff throught the PC?

Actually, no, thats not correct. The chip is simply a chip which broadcasts a code a small distance. That code can be picked up, and then the computer can look for your medical record using that code.

And, once again, the chip is not a tracking device. It is not a transmitter. It can only become active when a scanner energizes it, and the only thing that it can do is emit a 256 digit password that uniquely identifies you as yourself. It has an effective range of a little under four feet. Nothing else is stored on the chip, nothing at all.

There seems to be a lot of confusion here about these chips. Yes these RFID chips only transmit a few feet. You cannot be tracked by satilite on the street with 1.
These chips are not going into you're brain either!(not these chips anyway). They also are volantary to make life better and easier for whatever purpose.
Also if there are an Diabetics here, I read that these sort of micro-chips will make life a lot easier for you.
Eventually the Chips will be able to Send information to your Personal computer, a PDA, smartphone ( watever we are using ) and transmit Results back to you're Doctor using the Internet. Then the right Medicin can be sent to you if you have some sort of infection or something.
So instead of Guess work, They will know what strain you have, what drug amount is needed etc...
Im also wondering about what the average AGE is on this topic, because many of you cannot accept a future like this.
Well you are just gonna have to live with it unfortanatly =/ . I can see you're worries. But they are not as bad as something like the movie Enemy of the state hehe
