The TV movie is due out some time in 2005 and stars Ashanti as Dorothy, David Alan Grier as Uncle Henry and Queen Latifah as Autnie Em as well as the usual Muppet cast. Jeffrey Tambor, who you may recognise as George Bluth Sr./Oscar Bluth in Arrested Development or the voice of King Neptune in Spongebob Squarepants or K. Edgar Singer in Muppets from Space plays The Wizard. It is directed by Kirk Thatcher, who has quite a history with the Muppets. He wrote Muppet Treasure Island and was a writet on The Muppets Tonight and also directed The Very Merry Muppet Xmas Movie. It also has a cameo by Quentin Tarantino.

I haven't seen The Wizard of Oz, atleast not all of it and haven't read it and don't really have any desire to but The Muppets are awesome so I will be watching this. Gonzo and Fozzie look great.

No, Jeffrey Tambor plays or provides the voice (it doesn't say if the Wizard will be a Muppet or human) of the Wizard. Tarantino will be playing himself.
