Who do you think is the greatest classic band? This is just my views on who I think are the best. Just my view. Place your vote. If other, please name. This is not meant to be for flaming. Just to start some sort of discussion. So let the fun begin!

Nice selection assembled, Jeremy.

I will just add an honorable mention: The Band. Terrific Canadian group of the 70's...toured w/ Dylan for several years.

I think its a tie between Pink Floyd and The Who, only because David Gilmour was the greatest guitar player and Pete Townsend of The Who was an amazing songwriter

The Beatles are really good, but they just didnt have that amazing guitar power that Floyd had... Queen and Eagles also are awesome though

I voted for the Rolling Stones because of their staying power, and they've been around much longer than Aerosmith, the only other band listed that's still together. The Stones are still touring (despite half the band looking like corpses

) and making music. They developed the edge that the Beatles were afraid to.

You know, I think they aproached Keith Richards to play Jack Sparrows father in the Next Pirates of the CArrebian movie

He was who Johnny based his look in that movie after anyway.

Yes, you're right. And as far as I know he has accepted.

Depp said he thought of pirates as the rock stars of their day, so that was his tribute.

I am horrified that Van Halen is now considered classic.

I remember my mom not letting me listen to them, now they're classic rock. Alas, I am an old lady...

Oh my, Jeremy, such a poet's soul...I am all flustered.
And as long as we are talking the David Lee Roth days, I agree they were influencial. Both musically and upon legions of groupies...

I voted Pink Floyd because I love, love, looooovvvvveeeeeeeeee "Learning to Fly". Otherwise, I'm a bit shamed to admit, I'd probably pick Aerosmith, just 'cause I love them so much. 5 decades and they still freakin' rock!

Don't be ashamed about liking Aerosmith. They're awesome! (Well, not the last couple of albums, but I still love 'em.)

The best classic rock band was the Beatles. Without them, rock wouldn't be here today as we know it.
