I am new to this site and found it doing an online search to see if there is anyone else out there that has had a similar experience or "feeling". I may not be posting
this in the correct area, so if I am please let me know.
Ok- Last weekend I was having a party called a Cookie Exchange (totally irrelevant) but I was expecting some guests to arrive at 1 pm. I realized that when
I was at the grocery store earlier I had forgotten to buy cream for the coffee. I decided to run up to a local convenience store about 6 blocks from my house. I actually used to work there about 6 years ago but had not been back there since then. Sounds weird but I just recently moved back to this neighborhood. Well,
there are train tracks in between my house and this store. Of course I got delayed
by a train and when I looked at the clock on my dash I noticed that it was 12:31
and hoped that none of the guests would arrive early or before I got home. Well
when I got to the store there was a mail truck and a mail-lady eating in it parked
next to me. There were 2 guys next to a car and one was pumping gas. The one
that wasn't pumping gas yelled something to get my attention (hitting on me)
and I ignored him. I walked in and the cashier guy said hello. The obnoxious guy
walked in and said "Where are all the pretty ladies at? Hey-aay!" I opened the
door to the cooler and grabbed the carton of cream. At the moment I touched it
I was in this weird "super-sensory mode" I was extra aware of how cold the carton
was in my hand. The door of the cooler closed with a suctiony-noise. I turned and
walked to the counter, extra aware of every step I was taking. The obnoxios guy
was pre-paying for the gas on a debit card. He said "Hey beautiful". I smiled. The
cashier was apologizing for being slow. The obnoxious guy then asked how much
the cigars on the counter were and asked if he could "borrow" one and he promised to pay tomorrow because he didn't feel like signing his name twice in one
day. (credit card slip) Which he thought was the funniest joke ever. The cashier
let him have a cigar. Obnoxious guys leaves, cashier rings me up, every noise
the register makes is screeching in my eardrums. I can't stand these exaggerated
senses, he is slow at getting my change so I leave without it. I feel like I am in
slow motion. His words are long and stretched out. I wonder if I am feeling this
way because I used to work there. I go out to my car and my clog falls off my foot as I am getting into my car. I have to reach underneath to get it. The mail
lady is still eating her lunch. I drive away and notice the obnoxious guy heading
back towards the store and his friend putting the gas nozzle back. As soon as I
am out of the parking lot my senses are normal again. I forget the sense thing
as think about getting back home for the party. 3 guests that arrive together tell
me that there are police and ambulances at the gas station. (the one in mention)
I am curious but not overly concerned as we live in a large city. That night on the
news the story is that a guy in a trench coat walks into the store and uses the
bathroom. He comes out and opens fire on the 2 employees and doesn't rob the
place or anything. He is still on the run. A witness thought they saw him run into
a nearby house but they tear-gassed it and it burnt down somehow and he wasn't
inside afterall. I work at the local Sheriff's office so I have access to the criminal
complaint which is the legal story of what the person is charged with. It says that at 12:45 the murderer walked into the store and went into the bathroom. At 12:46
the obnoxious cigar guy went back into the store because he forgot matches. The
murderer then came out of the bathroom shooting. Given this timeline, I am fairly
sure that since I was waiting for the train at 12:31 a few blocks away and was
gone by 12:45 when this happened and saw the obnoxious guy heading back towards the store when I was driving away that I just missed this whole thing.
This is not weird in itself, I know. I just want to know what was up with my heightened senses and weird feelings? At the time I did not feel in danger or
scared like something was going to happen. I did feel unexplainably weird and almost felt like I was veiwing this whole situation from above my body but then at the same time I was in my body like normal. Like I could see how shiny my leather coat was under the fluorescent lights. Sorry to make this so long. I just don't want to leave out any information that may be crucial. Another creepy thought is that if the noise ringing in my ears hadn't caused me to leave my change I may have been still standing at the counter when the murdered came in... Any ideas or thoughts are greatly appreciated.
